It takes more than words to establish who might be the best Physical Therapy business in San Diego…read more I have sustained two torn rotary cuff injuries and surgery requiring substantive PT with the second shoulder injury much worse than the first. With Rick Stauffer assembling arguably the finest and most motivated team, my recovery now is rated close to 100%. Ricks' right hand man Josh Ostrom had the very difficult task of guiding me through my more severe second injury. Josh was dedicated to me and performed the vast majority of my PT sessions. It looked pretty bad initially as recovery was slow, but he stayed with me and true to his dedication, I am now back to playing golf with zero pain. You can feel the energy that everyone on Ricks' staff displays every time they engage with clients, even those they aren't directly working with. Whatever comes after five stars, I give them that highest rating and title of San Diego's finest PT clinic. Art Weidetz

This place is very hit or miss depending on which therapisit or assistant you get. My wife had ok…read moresessions with a different PT, but also had issues with some of the assistants. I'm not naming names here, because perhaps they were having a bad day, or other issues that I am unaware of. I hope they use this feedback to improve. I am a very fit, experienced weight lifter. On my initial visit I was very clear on my goals for physical therapy. The therapist had a trainee do my measurements and most of the evaluation while he watched. That was a little weird, but okay. They gave me four exercises as homework, all of which I explained I already did. I went into great detail about my workouts and exercises. The trainer then said, just do these and we'll build on it when you come back for your first official visit. I came back, explained to the PT my current status, explaining that I did all the homework every day and indicated I had already done some work that morning reviewing the exercises that I had done. The PT worked on me, stretching or manipulating my hip for 5-10 minutes which was great as I'd expect. He then said ride this exercise bike for five minutes while I plan your exercises. Shouldn't this have been done prior to my visit, not on my time? I was already warmed up, so riding the bike was a pointless waste of time. the five minutes were up, then I just was left standing there waiting for them to come back. I finally walked over to the counter and he saw me and came over. He said I was going to work with the assistant. Now the not so funny part here is that the assistant simply had me do all the exercises they had given me for homework, with a couple of new moves that I had already done in my workout that morning. It was like do this, she gave me a cursory glance and minimal input, then she walked away to help others or talk with other people while I did the exercises on my own. I'd then stand there by myself waiting for her to come back and give me the next steps. She'd come back and say, "how was it?,l when I was done. This happened every time. It was like working out on my own off a printed list. Something I specifically warned the therapist against in my initial consultation. Suddenly the assistant says, that's it, you're done. I asked where the therapist was, don't I get to talk to him again? Her response, no that's it, we'll see you next time. No feedback, new exercise, planning, anything, despite this being my first non-consultation visit. I then walked the whole floor looking for the therapist to give feedback and he was nowhere to be found. other than the first 5-10 minutes, it was like working out by myself, but having the privilege of paying my $50 copay for it. i can only imagine what they charge my insurance company. I later spoke to both the reception and PT on the phone, explaining the issues and how poorly I was treated. The PT did apologize, but sort of defaulted to a this is how things work stance. We evaluate how you do what we lay out and build off that. The problem was, there was no evaluation or feedback. I had no one to say, the weight is too light, this doesn't really work for me, etc. If this is how it works, I want no part of it. I set aside time to go and pay for these visits, they should actually work with me! A couple additional comments, the facility is very crowded and compact. Tables are only a couple feet from each other and you're competing for space while exercising. The employees stand around BS'ing with each other about their personal activities and not really engaging with their jobs. i Actually felt like an outsider, not the actual client. It was truly an awful experience and ruined my whole day. I'd advise you to look elsewhere if you want a quality experience.

ASIS (RB location) has been a total game changer in my case and I can't recommend them enough. I've…read moremade more progress working with Dr. "D" Catron and all the professional, dedicated PT Techs (especially Annika, whom I've been working with the most) in the last year than the previous 6yrs of conservative pain management (i.e. incompetent pain docs, epidural steroid injections, pain meds, numerous feeble PT attempts with mediocre PTs at substandard PT clinics, etc.) combined. My care plan is not only 100% tailored to me, but Deanna also personalizes every session based on how I'm feeling both physically/mentally that day, integrating mental/physical well-being in her practice. She takes the time to listen/understand how my condition impacts my life, finds ways for me to integrate my home care routine more easily/efficiently into my lifestyle, explains how each exercise/stretch works, and creates new ones on the spot to help save me time by combining several into one. Deanna truly goes above/beyond by taking the time to help me better understand my condition anatomically, how it affects me physically, and took things a step further by helping me understand my MRI/x-ray impressions ordered by the pain docs but never explained to me in a way I could understand by them. Thanks to her and Annika's profound empathy/compassion, unremitting encouragement/devotion, inexhaustible patience/support, and exceptional teamwork; I have managed to get off opioids completely, drastically cut down on multiple other addictive meds, regain confidence in my self/my ability to get better, and learn what I can do to continue along this path to recovery without having to get surgery. I'm no longer stumbling around in the dark and can finally see light at the end of the tunnel. They have completely transformed my life for the better and I sincerely hope they are getting the recognition/compensation they deserve for their relentless hard-work/efforts. Speaking of well deserved recognition/compensation for hard-work/efforts, I feel it's important that I mention all the other amazing PT Techs that have played a role in my journey to recovery (not in any particular order and hopefully spelled correctly): Jericho, Hanna, Blake, Chloe, Nick, Cora, and Jacob. Thank you to all with whom I've had the pleasure of working with at ASIS in Rancho Bernardo, words are not enough to express my gratitude for everything you have done for me!

When I first came to him, I couldn't externally rotate my shoulder and struggled to get my arm overhead without insane scapular winging. I can now do both, and my winging is pretty much under control. That says a lot, especially considering I have Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. My surgeon has been impressed with Nick's ability to correct my STAM. Dr. Nick has identified my muscle weaknesses, prescribed the right targeted exercises, and has me log them to stay accountable. There have been strong suggestions that I consider another surgery, but Nick has also been able to keep my pain under control with effective, targeted bodywork, including cupping and massage. I've gone to PT at both UCSD and Kaiser without any success, and I'm so thankful Nick has helped me hold off on another surgery. He listens intently and navigates each session in a way that leaves you walking out feeling like you're ready to do all the things your body has been holding you back from. I'm beyond thankful to Dr. Nick and SDSPT. They genuinely want you to get better, I promise you that. I've been to both locations, and they are top-notch. If you're active, an athlete, or just someone who doesn't want another surgery, you'll find the best care here.

My therapist at Fundamental Physical Therapy & Pelvic Wellness was wonderful!…read more I was experiencing low back / pelvic pain in pregnancy. She immediately was able to figure out that the pain was coming from my SI joint area and gave me exercises to help stabilize that area. During our appointments she was able to use massage and stretching techniques to help the pain as well as teach me to practice techniques on my own. Would definitely recommend to anyone dealing with pelvic pain in pregnancy.

CAUTION, CAUTION, CAUTION!!!!! YOU MUST READ THIS IF YOUR IN PAIN. Not all Physical Therapists…read moreare created equal!!!! I'm a man who has lived with chronic pain for almost 20 years. That is, until I discovered Debbie Cohen. I'll try to summarize. For many years I've suffered from chronic lower back & "pelvis related" pain. Specifically, the very worse pain would manifest in my rectum, tailbone and buttocks region. This pain was chronic and often unbearable. Regrettably, it had a VERY NEGATIVE impact upon my life. Over the years, I seen numerous Physical Therapists, Urologists, Neurologists, Orthopedics, and Chiropractors, etc. During the process, I endured many different forms of treatment, to include, a wide variety of medications (to include high doses of morphine, etc), Biofeedback, Acupuncture, Bladder Installations, and MUCH, MUCH, MUCH more. I was given many possible diagnoses, to include: Interstitial Cystitis (IC), Pelvic Floor Dysfunction, Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndromes (CPPS), and so forth. Regrettably, despite all the diagnoses and treatments, I continued to suffer. My desperation fueled continued investigation and research until I discovered Debbie Cohen at Fundamental Physical Therapy & Pelvic Wellness. Initially, I was a very skeptical about seeing another Physical Therapist. After all, over the years, I've seen many different Physical Therapists without any real relief. Many Therapists claim that their treatment can include Pelvis related issues. However, I quickly learned that not all Therapists are equal. I did suspect that my pain was somehow related to the Pelvis and I knew that was Debbie's specialty. Thus, I elected to see Debbie for treatment. Bottom Line: Debbie Cohen was a life saver. Her treatment has relieved me of the chronic pain that I suffered for MANY years. It's almost like a miracle to me. Sometimes, I simply can't believe this has actually happened!  Simply put, she is a true professional in every regard. Unlike some Therapists, your never handed off to a helper. Rather, she provides her undivided and focused attention (one on one) to solve the source of the problem. She's a great communicator that takes your problem very seriously. In fact, her personal services far exceed the hourly treatment sessions provided. Debbie has my absolute highest recommendation.
