Nicole Cerrato at Rise in Ojai is a treasure and just as amazing as the other reviews suggest. I got the best, super flattering haircut, absolutely gorgeous color and adjusted highlights that a stylist at a different salon had done a mediocre job on before. I also got a consultation for extensions that I asked about for an upcoming event and feel confident about purchasing the ones she recommended. Nicole is such a pro who very obviously loves her job and to make sure you end up with exactly what you envisioned - in fact I couldn't have imagined my hair looking this great, so she exceeded my expectations. (Now I won't have to think about letting my hair go gray for a long time!) Nicole pampered me and ended up spending way more time with me than was originally scheduled, which I appreciated. I had a severe chemical burn to my hair and after having several stylist friends look at it all saying to reach out, it was suggested I come in to have it fixed with the person who damaged it. its been beyond traumatic and was also $400. it would have been nice had the stylist who did it and has to know they fried it, offer a refund. I've had to cut 4 inches off to match where my hair broke off and it's still very damaged. read more

Yesterday I went to Rise to see Angela for a partial highlight and blowout. She took some time to clarify what I wanted done and we discussed blending of natural color and gray as well as my desire to keep my hair a 'cool' blonde. She did an excellent job with a fair number of foils to ensure I got the look I was wanting. She used a conditioning/repairing product(Olaplex, I think) to minimize damage while coloring and I left the salon with soft, beautiful blonde hair! I feel so lucky to have found Rise a few months back after moving from San Francisco and navigating through a few very mediocre haircuts at other spots in Ojai and Ventura. I just got my second cut today with Heather - hands down the best haircut I've ever gotten (both times!). I have never received so many compliments from friends, colleagues, and complete strangers than I did when I first got my haircut with her. I have bangs and hair above the shoulders - and both times my hair has looked flawless after. Heather is kind, friendly, listens, and is extremely talented. Okay, first off --- the salon is gorgeous. Bright and beautiful, and with the most comfortable seating to get your hair washed that I've ever experienced. And every single person that I interacted with was just lovely --- from the girlie at the front desk, to the assistant who gave me an amazing scalp-massage, to the co-owner Heather --- everyone had such a great energy. It really is just an amazing space. I could grab some tea and a good book and just curl up in a corner and stay there forever... But the star of the show for me has and always will be the ah-mazing Jen Keeler. She is the reason I drive 3 - 4 hours round-trip instead of just finding someone else in LA. Her cuts are divine and her colors are absolutely edible. She gives me exactly what I want --- except when it's crazy and not possible --- and then she gently steers me away from what I think I want and to something far more flattering and even better than I could have ever even hoped for. I trust her implicitly. And I don't know what I'd do without her. So if you actually have the luxury of living in Ojai --- I cant imagine why you'd go anywhere else. Kelsey is awesome! I just got a cut and style by Kelsey. I am Japanese and my hair was past my waistline and very thick. Now it's above the shoulders and feels lighter and has great long, gradual layers that I can wear straight or curled. Not a lot of stylist can deal with thick Asian hair so I was pleasantly surprised by Kelsey's technique and efficiency! Great salon too!! Nice boutique home and great hospitality. I moved to Ojai a year ago, tried a couple places in town and wasn't happy with my cut or color. A good friend of mine worked with Jen in Los Angeles and said I had to go to her. So happy I did and now I have my hair spot and stylist in Ojai! She listened to my requests and the result was perfect. Her assistant was great, I almost fell asleep while she washed my hair, it was so relaxing. I never felt rushed and it didn't take forever. I learned that price does not automatically result in satisfaction. I have never paid $280 for a cut and color, so I was expecting to be more than happy with the results. I am only disappointed, frustrated, and confused. Kelsey offered me a free re-cut after living with the cut for a couple days, but 3 times during my original appointment I communicated to her my concerns and she never did what I wanted, therefore I had no confidence that it would be any different if I went back. I wanted the crown and front of my hair thinned, texturized, and layered, but she only worked on the back even after the 3 times I tried to communicate my wishes to her. I was searching for a salon/stylist for my wedding day that would steer clear from what I think of as traditional 'bride hair' and give me a more natural look for my outdoor wedding.
