Ripken Field is home to the Aberdeen Ironbirds; the single-A minor league affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles. I've passed the stadium many times as it's located just off Interstate 95 in northern Maryland and can be seen from the highway. It's one of the few minor league ballparks I've visited with free parking. Tickets are a bit more expensive than other minor league games I've been to, but still substantially cheaper than attending a MLB game, and you're much closer to the action on the field. There doesn't seem to be a bad seat in the ballpark, and the sightlines are great regardless of where you're sitting. There are picnic tables and a kids play area set up in left field. As is typical of sporting venues, concessions are overpriced and the hot dogs, nachos, ice cream, and other food items our group tried were pretty underwhelming in terms of quality. The team store had a decent variety of merchandise, but was similarly overpriced. Many of the concession stands were closed with low attendance for an April game against the Brooklyn Cyclones, but I'm sure they open up when the summer season ramps up and attendance rises. Overall, it was a fun and low maintenance day at the ballpark, but I'd rank the overall experience a 3.5/5 at best compared to other minor league ballparks I've been to. read more

Love the Ripken experience. It's great for kids as they have the opportunity to play on a minor league field. The surrounding fields fly the flag of a MLB team. Easy access and an adjoining hotel makes for a fantastic day. read more

Let's Go Iron Bird!! We were visiting from another state and decided last minute to get tickets. Overall everyone in our group had fun - the entering staff and concession stand staff were super friendly ... the usher to show you where to sit - was not attentive or friendly. The popcorn was over salted and basically inedible. The concession stand food was cold and unimpressive ... $6 for a hotdog with a stale bun. The store offered a variety of items ranging from $2 - $100 - so depending on your budget - you could still buy something. read more

Take me out to the ballgame! Oh yea, getting to watch the Ironbirds! We have great seats and we love going to baseball games with our family and friends. This was a surprise for my mom who is in a wheelchair (handicap parking not a lot available or close)..boo!! The main entrance has a few men checking tickets and bags (no drinks allowed even unopened). We passed them and on to our seats. Unfortunately we had seats in 5th row and mom couldn't get down to the seats so my husband and mom stayed up top behind the railing and my son and I sat in our seats for 2 innings then moved back up with mom & my husband. The mascot was walking around and mom said she wanted a picture with him lol. I asked him if he would take a pic with her & he did-made mom's night. The restrooms were clean and they were directly behind us. The gift shop has something for everyone & prices range from $1-$100+. The ladies in the gift shop are very friendly and helpful and they will tell you about anything they have on sale. I bought a bib for a gift & market bag. The food was good and not expensive. They have drinks from water, soda, tea and beer. The game is alot of fun and they do alot of games during inning change with the fans. Also the players are much more approachable than the MLB and they will sign balls, books, cards take pics with fan if time. Parking-handicap 4/5 Cleanliness 5/5 Staff 4/5 The seats-5/5 all good seats and alot of foul balls come into the stand Prices for tickets $$ (great place for scouts(we camped on the field with Boyscouts several years ago) They really appreciate their fans and support the communities and organizations for children. Definitely recommend 100% catch a game or 2 if you can. You'll be happy you did:-). We've driven by the stadium many times but never stopped so we decided to take a Saturday drive to visit. As a huge Cal Ripken Jr fan, I had been wanting to tour the grounds. The staff members in the team store were amazing and even took us to see the new field which wasn't yet open to the public. They gave us a lot of history of the teams and the fields. There was a little league tournament taking place while we were there so we stopped by (no charge to enter) and watched a little bit of the game. The seating area is comfortable and spacious. We're looking forward to the season to start so we can catch an Iron Birds game! read more

I absolutely love it at this stadium!!!! My son and I took in a game with the IronBirds taking on the Greensboro Grasshoppers (PIT affiliate) on a whim ticket purchase. Absolutely worth the 40 minute drive to the stadium!! Their food, atmosphere, seats, and view were everything that a person could possibly want on a minor league baseball stadium summer tour!!! Everyone was absolutely welcoming and friendly!! Even got to meet the actual GM of the Baltimore Orioles, Mike Elias!!! And everything in the gift shop was very reasonably priced. We attended a game pre-covid. Very clean, very nice staff. We went for the suites/boxes (a/c and some food included). Loved it! There was even an event near us that had crabs and they had dozens left over... the staff allowed us to sit down and have some after the guests left. So sweet of them!! read more

The Maryland Foodie Fest was held here today. The stadium complex is really nice and the parking was free yea! The event it's self was just ok. I think this must've been their first one because it didn't pop up on Yelp. I thought the entrance fee was a little pricey at $40 a person, which includes a wristband, 4 complimentary Tickets to sample food and a plastic Shot Glass. We had to buy more Coupons in order to sample food. Most items were 2, 3 and 4 Tickets to sample food. Very small portions I may add. They did have some Food Trucks around the field, not as many as I thought they should. They had a Burger Competition and food, dessert, wine and merchandise vendors throughout. I don't think I will be returning unless they have more variety in food choices. read more

Fans of the Orioles and just die-hard baseball fans will get a kick out of the Aberdeen Ironbirds' home stadium. We got our tickets through an online marketplace and it included the children's all-you-can-play wristbands for Kidzone which included a bouncy house and speed pitch (which my boys absolutely loved!). We made reservations for shaded seats on the 3rd base side (near the Kidzone). The concession stands are still somewhat overpriced but the kids' meal was only $5 and it includes a kid's hot dog, a kids' beverage, and a bag of chips!). They even have a Jimmy's Seafood kiosk which I nearly missed. All in all, the boys had so much fun and it was a great experience. I hope passing on the tradition of American baseball to the next generation remains strong, and it's Minor League stadiums like these that provide that happy place for so many young future players. read more

Ripken Stadium is an excellent place to watch a baseball game with friends and family. The stadium is beautiful! Sadly, I have to give the stadium three stars. If you want food or drinks, you will have to wait in 30 minutes+ lines. The wait is frustrating because you go to this stadium to watch the game, and you spend half the time standing in lines! Please, open more lines for food and drinks. The demand is there. I also must note that the bathrooms were pretty gross. I know that is to be expected, but many of the stalls were dirty, and the foul smell was overwhelming. Overall, it's a beautiful stadium, but please, please, please, hire more staff for your food and drink lines and maybe look into some air freshener for your bathrooms. read more

This is a really nice complex. We came to watch a friends son play baseball. Very clean, well maintained, nice restrooms, large parking lot and plenty of fields. There is a large Ripken statue as well. Looked to be a lot of options for food, although we did not have anything so I can't say how good any of it is. read more

Purchased a 9-game mini plan with the Aberdeen Ironbirds this season and just recently went to their first game on Sunday. We had a great time. The in-between inning entertainment was "entertaining" and we definitely laughed. The team is currently 2-6 for the season, so not the greatest but a nice relaxing time, especially since this is the most entertaining sports thing going on in Aberdeen. They had food specials going on throughout the game but the staff needs to be more organized about when to start offering them. The food vendors were shouting at each other about offering $1 nachos promotions, waiting for a manager to approve it. All in all, parking is free, seats run about $10/each. As a season ticket holder, you get coupon tickets for free/discounted tickets and a reusable cup for $1 drinks. They treat you very nicely and we were even invited to a free preview event of their catering where Cal Ripken, his brother and mother were in attendance giving a speech. So it's a great family experience here. read more

Talk about good ol' fashioned fun! Now, straight off, I should tell you that I have a soft spot in my heart for minor league baseball stadiums. My very first summer job after turning 16 was working the concession stand at my hometown's stadium and it was the most fun ever. But, I am not a baseball fan by any means, so I think I've been to a handful of MLB games since - it's just not my thing. However, I would totally go back to another Ironbirds game in a heartbeat - it was just that much fun. I don't know if it was the small town feel to the place and people. Or, the fact that they had decent grub - everything from a Bo Brooks crab pretzel to pulled pork to an ice cream sundae in a mini helment ala old school DQ. Actually, it could very well have been the crazy shenanigans like three people dressed up as giant eyeballs racing one another or that every other hit ball could very possibly roll off the roof line and knock up upside the head. Overall, it was quite an enjoyable time and I want to go back again. Who's up for a baseball game?! read more

Great place for a ball game. As other reviewers have noted, the ticket prices are high for an A-ball team, the cheapest going for $11.50, but parking is free. As with all minor league stadiums, there isn't a bad seat in the house. The one thing this stadium has that I've never seen anywhere else is the crabs -- get there early, buy a dozen and pick 'em. Nothing wrong with a ballpark hotdog, but when in Maryland, eat crab. And while every stand in the place will sell you a Natty Boh, there are two that have some better brews on offer. The Troegs Brothers IPA for $6 is probably the best beer I've ever had at a ballpark. And following up your crabs and beer with a custard from Rita's? No brainer. But amidst all this good eating, try to remember there's a baseball game going on. Or not. You'll leave happy either way. read more

Mgmt never listens to fans concerns to improve experience. Always running out of lids. Straws. Cups. Close one side of stands so you have to walk to other side of stadium to purchase food on slow nights. Went to bagged popcorn when popcorn maker broke near end of season. When complain about anything on social media your post is automatically removed. Social media team is the absolute worse I have ever seen. No interaction with the fans. No stats or history posted on any of the players. When you complain to them or offer ideas to improve the experience that cost nothing the revoke you season tickets for next season like they did to me . They want the fans ? Yet have lost so many after this season. Removed the rewards system and blamed it on a new ticket system they stated they hope to bring it back next season. No you should have never gotten rid of it period! How cheap can you get!! From what people pay for tickets. Food. The over priced beer it is the least you could put back. Not use some lame excuse. Mascots. Never see them past the seve inning. If at all some games. And this stupid rule of not being allowed outside food and drinks has got to go. read more

I was working in Aberdeen Proving Ground, so I decided to take the short 10 minute drive to Ripken Stadium. I needed to buy some apparel for family at home. For a baseball park in the middle of nowhere, it is pretty nice. There was a little league game going on at the time. Almost makes those kids fell like they are major league stadium. Well more like a Minor League stadium, known as the aberdeen Ironbirds. The store here had nearly 90% of merchandise for the ironbirds, the other 10% consisted for Ripken Jr & Sr things and some orioles. If you had nothing to do and have about 30 minutes to spare as i did in Aberdeen or a hardcore Ripken Jr. fan, you can ponder a visit. read more

This was my second time here. This was my fifth game in my Birdland Passport baseball road trip. It was also opening night. It was a hot night at the ballpark and I felt for the guys that had to wear suits. Ordered my tickets online and picked them up at will call. The person that was working that window was nice and was quick with getting me my tickets. They have a very good selection of food and beer. Since it is a smaller minor league park, there really is not a bad seat in the house. After the game there were fireworks, which look real nice from the parking lot. This is when I left, so I could get back on the road sooner rather than later. from the parking lot, it was two turns to get back onto 95. It is real easy to get the games. read more

Great stadium for class A short season minor league baseball. Lots of food choices, including, of course crabs. Parking is free, but the tickets are expensive for the quality of players. I am used to paying $1-$5 per ticket for class A (not short season) minor league games. It is around $10 per ticket here, and I haven't seen any promotion days to lower the ticket costs. That is really the only downside. Oh, and the fact that they changed their colors this year, so I have to get a new hat and shirt! read more
