I call a few businesses and no dice, but I call this place and Peter, the business owner, answers the phone. I tell him specifically that I need a beard trim and he tells me that they are not taking appointments over the phone but to go to his website. I tell him thanks but all I need is a beard trim and do you think there might be someone available for that. He says, I would need to make an appointment for the beard trim, but Jim is available at 1:30. Book it on the website. It's at 1:30. So I plan my whole day around this 1:30 slot, which is right in the middle of the day (on my vacation of which I could be doing other things) because he told me it was available. I leave my girlfriend to wait for me and get here...and as soon as I get here, Jim comes outside and says he can't trim my beard. Just around the sides of my mask. I tell him that Peter told me specifically that I could. Apparently Peter was standing right next to Him and Jim just looks at him. Peter, says excuse me? I repeated to him that he had told me to make an appointment for a trim on the website. He says, nope...no you didn't. Some now I'm angry. This guys wastes my time...and then lies about speaking to me on the phone. I tell him that he's wasted my time and he reiterates that it's not his decision...it's the governments. Why didn't he tell me that on the phone?? Instead I waste a whole day waiting around for an appointment that would never happen. I tell him that this will end up in a review and he calls me an A$$hole and to go back to Massachusetts and trim the beard myself. What a great guy. Thanks Pete.

Uhngi is a one person operation. Excellent customer service and a fantastic haircut at a reasonable price. I was very pleased and extremely satisfied. Highly recommended. She used to work at a large Westerly establishment and then took off to start her own gig. One day she called me up to tell me to come on over and become a customer. I really can't judge hair cut quality. I'm a middle aged male who wears his hair short and gets it cut every 4-5 weeks. It can't be too hard to cut my hair. But this is what I like about Uhngi...she complains about the places that charge $30 to cut men's hair. In her own way, she is implying that the client is getting ripped off, i.e., it's an easy hair cut, not too much skill required, not too much hair to cut, etc. And for these reasons, $30 is overpriced for the work performed. For $18 at Uhngi Shea's, I get a great cut...care and attention to detail, good advice about my hair. I always tip her, and why shouldn't I? With a tip, my cost is still about 30% lower than the rest of the local salons. Overall, I've been very satisfied with Uhngi since I first became a client. I don't always get my hair cut in Westerly, but when I do, I get it cut at Uhngi Shea's.

The ladies at this hair salon are super nice and conversational. I always get an appointment time that works for me. Once I arrive for my hair appointment, they ask if I'd like a wash. Of course I say YES. Who doesn't like someone else massaging their head and washing their hair. Its very relaxing. No matter who is my hairdresser that day, I always receive compliments on my hair and tips on how to do certain things with it along with product recommendations. They always ask how my mother is doing (she gets her hair highlighted there all the time) and how the rest of my family and life is doing.
