This wonderful street starts right outside the train station (to your left hand side when walking out). As most of Venice it's pretty crowded, but since it's - for Venice - a quite wide street it doesn't feel too crowded.
Many Hotels are lined up here (we like the Hotel Nazionale - doesn't look much, but good value). Shops, restaurants, arts & crafts, souvenir shops....it's all here. And also what probably is the city's best bakery: The Pasticceria dal Mas.
It's a nice street to just stroll around. Especially when it gets dark the visitors become less and it's wonderful to walk along it at night. Very romantic.
When the street ends (actually it just changes the name into Salizada S. Geremia) you can keep walking....and walking. You will end up at Rialto somewhen. It's a nice walk. read more
