I recently changed several prescriptions to Rio Rico Pharmacy, since they were much closer than Green Valley. The first I heard of their relocation was by accident, when I stopped by 2 days before my prescription was due (on a Friday). I was directed by the new owner of the gas station/market to a sign on the door that said "text your bday to transfer your prescription either to Walgreens or Walmart. I requested Walmart, called next morning and was told that because I had a controlled substance, only my doctor could call the prescription in and the pharmacist should have known that. Luckily, I was not out of my meds and on Monday, I called my doctor to request they move my prescription to a new pharmacy. The Rio Rico pharmacy was not answering calls, so I had to call my doctor again and explain what had happened. I finally got my prescription filled, but am extremely unhappy with Rio Rico Pharmacy, due to their lack of communication. Will never fill a script here again. Would give them a minus one, if I could. read more

Joe, the pharmacist/owner of this business is an amazing guy. He's not just in it for the money, but seems to care about his customers. He knows most of them by name and takes the time to explain anything you may want to ask. Takes medicare and call kinds of insurance. Can't say enough good things about this place. Joe literally told my husband who's in a wheelchair that he was disabled because he didn't PRAY enough. He told him he is genetically inferior for having a disease that has absolutely NOTHING to go with genetics (..read a book JOE, google is free). Joe explained to my disabled husband in front of multiple people that is he DROVE TO TEXAS to see a preacher that he would be healed of the multiple sclerosis that has cause PERMANENT tissue damage in his brain. We have gone through years and years of medical research and trauma just to be told by a man that has never known the struggle of disability that WE ARENT DOING ENOUGH because we haven't prayed hard enough?!? The woman behind the pharmacy counter had to come out and profusely apologize for Joe's actions and words. Joe's completely unaccountable for the ableism he is spewing to human beings. Completely unexceptionable as someone who is a "man of God" to be belittling someone like he did to my husband. We will absolutely never be stepping foot in this pharmacy again, ever. This pharmacy is family owned. The owner/pharmacist is very intelligent and one of the most caring people you will ever meet. Joe, the owner has standards for how you treat people that most businesses do not even entertain. His morals and business etiquette are of the highest standards. We relocated from the East coast one year ago and finding a good pharmacy was difficult. I tried Walgreen's and another chain and both were terrible. Wrong prescriptions were filled, misinformation provided, and service almost non-existent. Rio Rico Pharmacy was recommended and I was very pleasantly surprised to find that this pharmacy was much like the one from back East. This is an excellent pharmacy that provides personal, efficient, precise, and pleasant service. This pharmacy is outstanding and beyond outstanding. Go to any chain pharmacy and you are just a number. This pharmacy is very caring and they make you feel important. Pharmacist Joe is so helpful/cares as he took the time to explain questions and concerns about my medical care to me. I have gone and spoke with other pharmacist in these "big" chain pharmacy which never gave me time to explain in any my concerns and medical question. I have to give this Pharmacist and outstanding award "Pharmacist who care". This pharmacist is very knowledgeable, more helpful then any doctor I have seen for my medical care.
