She offered discounts along with an assigned team for another chance, so I decided to give them a real challenge with my other SR kitty, Amber, who has high anxiety and is quite fearful of vet visits. Amber was treated with compassion, great patience, and gentleness to arrive at a surprisingly calm examination without being removed from her carrier. She was completely put at ease and submitted quietly. The team was diligent and kind with their questions without trying to upsell additional services, only giving me what I asked to be done. So refreshing... I was not shuffled to a different room, nor made to feel like it was a conveyor belt process. Amber was so at ease, it seemed like she was a total different cat. Both vet techs were awesome...they gave Amber LOTS of love, head scratches and cuddles. I was so pleased with the outcome that I had to come back and do another review. Amber's next appointment is in February for a dental cleaning. The invoice had a couple of courtesy discounts applied (true to Tracy's promise) that made the experience all the better. I'm happy with the outcome, and will definitely use East Padden again. Thanks to the entire team for making my Amber have a less stressful vet experience, and treating me better in the process!!

They are happy to get all your diagnostic, well checks and vaccines but when it comes down to it. They don't care. Luckily I went to Pacific NW emergency pet and they were wonderful. No extra fees during our distraught time. Fair pricing and I would avoid east padden if you want a long term vet for the life of your animal.

What needs serious attention is scheduling appts with a doctor that knows fear aggressive reactive…read moredogs! Especially since you offer $250 vet checks when they're adopted from HSSW Animal Shelter. These dogs are traumatized from being there and then their new home, especially German Shepherds. My 20 month old little girl, had been through a lot and I was working diligently to get her acclimated and trained. I even had one-on-one training sessions with a professional trainer. The visit to this clinic was a nightmare from the start, I asked for a side entrance because of her high prey drive and distain of other dogs, I was told they didn't have one. Instead I was escorted into the lobby, then a very tiny exam room, it was just horrible, as we were seated the vet enters and she is standing just a couple feet from us, my dogs body language was escalating, then she tried to approach, clearly not reading my dogs warning, my dog growled and was lunging toward her. She decided to get someone to assist her, I asked if she wanted me to muzzle her and she agreed. Upon her return w/o assistant, my girl was very nervous and anxious. The vet said I should wait in the lobby and she'd take her as she might do better without my presence, which I agreed. But then she reached over the dogs head for the leash, as I tried to get up, Suki muzzle punched her in the hip, everything thus far had been done wrong. From lobby to tiny room, us seated, vet standing, it was a nightmare. After just a few minutes an assistant approached and said, they would have to sedate her to treat her ear infection $400 And asked why? Shed just had them cleaned and treated for yeast at the shelter before I'd officially adopted her, and without incident, other than nonstop barking through the exam and treatment. But they insisted she needed to be fully under. After I picked her up the next day, I was given horrible advice from this unqualified to treat GSD's as she absolutely nothing about the breed. She told me to get a harness to restrain her. Anyone who knows the breed knows that a harness only allows them to pull more. She also told me that she needs to be on meds and to see a behavioralist so they could diagnose her and she could then write the prescription. I am on a fixed income and do not have that kind of money. Then she told me that if I didn't get her on meds, she could attack someone and likely turn on me, maybe not now but within 2 years. I was extremely distraught and upset when I left. First of all I know my dog, she doesn't! Besides the fact that I TOLD them of her issues before I made the appt. But no one listened to me and no concessions were made at all for her visit. It is my recommendation that your clinic listens to the client. And put a fear aggressive dog with a skilled Veterinarian that is familiar with the breed and their behaviors. She absolutely was not! Bottomline: -LISTEN to the dogs owner -Match dog to the Vet most qualified to handle. -Don't offer up information about a dog that you know nothing about. Especially when you created the entire ordeal in the first place. I'm sorry for the bad review but the advice I was given was completely wrong and had she known the behaviors of the breed she wouldn't have suggested the things she did! It was careless and irresponsible. My dog used to want to eat my cat, but with 4 months of hard work, gentle introductions my study of the breed, here we are today! I have had my girl now 5 months and she is a wonderful dog.

This review is long overdue actually as I've been taking my dogs to him for several years now and every time I see him, I'm blown away by his knowledge and ability to explain things in a way that is easy to understand. I never feel judged or coerced like at other places. It's one of the few vet offices that's not owned by a big corporation. He doesn't nickel and dime you nor recommend anything unneeded. His whole team is phenomenal and go above and beyond to take care of us. I wish he took human patients. When he retires, there will be a vast void in vet options in Vancouver

We have been taking our cats, as kittens and adults to Animal Medical for about ten years now, and…read moreall I can say is Dr. Ferguson would make an excellent human doctor and I would trust him even with my own life. That is saying something as I, myself, am a human medical professional. He is gentle and genuinely cares for the pets, gives good advice in an almost off-hand manner, and refers to other practices if treatment would surpass the capacity of his own. His practice is limited, so don't expect a fancy ER or ICU for pets, but he does an amazing job diagnosing and understanding small animals. And the psychology of their owners, as well. That's another issue. He is straight foreward, thorough and knowledgeable and he has little interest in expensive add-ons or padding the bill. His charges are reasonable, especially considering the bills one finds at local 'animal hospitals' which border on human-scale expensive. I have also had him 'put down' a pet who was beyond hope and he is sensitive and responsive to such grim occasions. I can think of nothing unkind to say.

A Rollercoaster Experience at Hearthwood Veterinary Hospital: Good to BAD to LOL…read more Strap in, folks, because this ride at Hearthwood Veterinary Hospital is all about highs and lows, with a heavy dose of mystery. My debut was good Dr. Dena Baumgartner, (picture shown on their website below), savvy vet tech (picture not shown), and the vibe that my furball and my wallet were in good hands. But hold onto your hats, because round two veers into the twilight zone. The plot thickens with their photo policy - so cloaked in mystery it could star in its own detective novel. I wanted to document my pet's first happy vet visit. If Hearthwood was a book, it'd be titled 'Why We Hide.' Auditing seems overdue, doesn't it? Then there's the 'VIP (Very Isolated Pets)' treatment - pets and owners parting ways for procedures, waving more red flags than a matador. Me and my sidekick? We don't play that game. We took our paws elsewhere after a peek behind the curtain revealed too many unanswered questions. They wanted to separate me from my pet for a simple booster shot. I thought that was odd since we were already in a private room and they were holding the shot in their hand. Wouldn't you think that was odd? Don't even get me started on time - or the lack thereof. This tech (see picture below) is 45 minutes late for the appointment. As you can see, she is less 'fashionably late.' It's not just about the wait; it's the principle. Most people count that as a "no show" at 20 minutes? Where do you draw the line? 15, 30 min? If it was the other way around they would easily charge me a "no show" fee. They also charged me wellness exam fee of some $60 which I did not authorize nor was I advised that a exam was being conducted. Bottom line: If you're shopping for a vet where secrets don't shadow simple check-ups and respect for your time is a given, let my story be your compass. It's time to vote with our feet, because the path to change is paved with our choices. In America, we vote with our dollar. And people like this business need to respect that. I hope people who read this review note that I was not offered an apology or a refund. Transparency, accountability, and punctuality aren't just nice-to-haves; they're must-haves. Over the years, we have been seen by a few of their amazing veterinarians. I have been very happy with all of the services they provide. The facility itself is always immaculate, quiet and calm (which is great for the pets they see), and its generally been easy to get in. Dr. Felton, Dr. Pavlich and Dr. Kroussaniotakis have seen my crew the most. They are all extremely kind, professional, and knowledgeable. I am always impressed with their bedside manner and compassion. It is clear they all love what they do and the families they work with. Grateful Heart Vet is the first place I recommend all of my dog training clients and I'm so glad to have them to help me with my crew!

Order: Neuter and Blood work…read more Pros: The place is very very clean and the doctors were wonderful! I had to bring my pup in early because he got sick from daycare. We originally had an appointment scheduled to prepare for a neuter. However, that slightly changed when my boy contracted something so that had to be dealt with. The staff was professional, helpful, and accommodating. And the Dr. was un-phased, in a good way, when my boy came in for his check up. I say that because one of the nurses was kind of stand offish so it made it a tad bit awkward when we first came in. That said, we got that situated. Scheduled our next appointment for bloodwork and got that done a week later. And finally we had our neuter! The surgery went successful and everyone was super-kind and helpful!! Perhaps one of the best overall experiences given the fact that my boy gets pretty nervous with vets. Cons: No major cons. However, I did receive a quote for my neuter and during the bloodwork part, which is a separate appointment prior to neuter, they did bloodwork but charged me additional $5 or something. When I got to the register I noticed the discrepancy and they said oh when they were trying to find the vein they had to use a bigger needle, which cost me. Now, I am all for doing whats necessary but I expect to be communicated too and informed PRIOR to, not after making an executive decision and then charging me. Sure it was $5 but we all know how bills can add up at a vet!!
