Pies, smoothies, trifles, ice cream. Yum!! We purchased a bushel of apples on our last visit, which we cored/peeled/sliced using an inexpensive gadget from Target or Ace Hardware(?). Froze on cookie sheets then transferred to gallon bags. We bought some that were a bit soft for pie--maybe because we froze them?--but are great dehydrated (for us & our dogs!) or made into apple butter. (Pies? Ask for the firmest apple.)

The orchards have several apple varieties, are well maintained and easy to navigate. The price is quite reasonable, you pay by choosing between three sizes of bags to pick the apples. They have picnic shelters and several playgrounds for kids that are free. Kids can also participate in a tractor ride in individual cars that are pulled by a riding lawn mower. We didn't see a full size tractor ride however. If you come hungry, try their apple cider donuts, slushies and ice cream. All of it is really good!

Realizing salt exists would help with a lot of things. The best thing we had was the Haggis and if you'e had Haggis you know that's pretty bad. There was also no effort to bus the tables when everyone was done. A large number of people started doing it themselves. It is a pretty place and I don't know anything about the other elements of the business (the store, etc) but I would not consider it for an event based on this experience.

Plus, there was a little donkey out back for us to pet while my wife took the goods out to the car - a good time was had by all. A good time, that is, until my son and I were accosted by the proprietor - she seemed to imply that we were not welcome, either because she thought we would steal something or perhaps that we were loitering. I told her we were with the lady who just purchased a bunch of stuff, but the more I thought about it, the more upset I got - I'm still upset (obviously). One might think this is supposed to be a good-vibes kinda place - that's the whole country store schtick, but... no good vibes were to be had that day. At any rate, all the stuff turned out to be really good - but the dog treats had an extremely unfavorable look - kinda like ground up tires. Regardless, we won't be returning.

If it's your first time here you may want to drive around before you park. Depending on what type of apples you're aiming for you may want to drive closer as it's an incline up. You pay for your apples at the store. There you can find pies, apple cider, bread, canned goodies and they also sell meats. The apple season began a month ago and most of the apple trees were picked at height level. We used an apple picker to get the apples high up. It was a beautiful, clear day ; about 80 degrees. Watch your ankles as the ground is uneven and there can be a lot of apples on the ground under and near the trees. There were other vendors near the store and portable toilets throughout the property. We are hoping to pick peaches next season!

Green Truck Farm did not disappoint! We were greeted by rows and rows of black raspberries, which I had never experienced before, but taste like a more flavor-packed version of raspberries. After we had our fill of black raspberries, we walked over to the blueberries and picked our hearts out. Advice: -Black raspberries tend to sell out first so start there if you're planning to pick at both places. -Subscribe to Green Truck Farm on Facebook for the latest updates about ripeness. -Visit their cousins down the road at Hartland Orchard for other fruit (cherries, peaches, apples).

We went the last week of May and there were still hundreds of strawberries to pick from! When you first enter the orchard/farm they give you a box that contains 6 of the strawberry holders. When we went in May 2021, they were around $4.99/lb. You have rows and rows of strawberries to pick from that are spread out nicely enough that it was easy to avoid people who didn't wear masks. The process was easy and the strawberries were delicious! My family and I demolished 6 boxes in less than a week.

We were directed to area 13 which had lots of Fuji, Granny Smith and Yellow Delicious apples among others. We were there on a weekday afternoon around 10:30 am so it wasn't too crowded so we could move around the orchard without fighting the crowds for the perfect apples. They didn't have much in the way of frills set up, just a stand on the way out selling apple butter and jams. I think they might have more amenities on the weekends but I'm not sure. If you want basic non-crowded apple picking, come here on a weekday morning. Check their website for events, etc. if you're planning to come on a weekend and want more activities. Oh, and they're cash only so be sure and bring some cash since I don't think there's an ATM on site.
