We also inquired about a water softener at the time, but the technician said we should wait until the well is complete to see if it is needed. They easily could have upcharged us right from the get-go, but wanted to ensure we needed it. After the well we did decide to add a softener, but I still appreciate their honesty and not trying to just make a quick upsale. We have called them back and are adding a hand pump. We would definitely work with the company again. They have always answered the phone for questions (including on what to do when I forgot to add salt). They are just good people. This is a long review but entirely warranted given how they have treated us. I will update with photos.

I only discovered after incurring an $889. bill less than 2 years into ownership that this product inherently attracts ants, both through the hum and the adhesive itself in the control panel, attracts ants. A corporate person I spoke with in Wisconsin told me the company is working on a re-design. My control panel was destroyed to the tune of $600. and the battery at $150.; both attributable to the ants. (add labor and house call) Noteworthy is the fact that the base of this unit comes with "carrying holes" for the unit to be set into place at your location. There exists "fascia cap kits" made for those holes, to keep the mice, etc out; but you must ask for it from corporate and pay for it. It was also advised that I should silicone around these caps. Despite corporate telling me they'd send me the caps, at their expense, they now say they have no record of my phone call. I believe this kit should come with silicone gaskets especially designed for these fascia caps, and come installed with each unit. Needless to say, although the Never Dark folks are nice. I am not a satisfied customer of Generac's; as its painfully obvious Generac has transparency issues with its customers. Also obvious, is the fact that this problem generates sales for corporate's bottomline.

THEY RIPPED ME OFF!!!…read more I had a toilet that needed to be lifted up and resealed and then just bolted back down. Very quick and straightforward job. It should've been a red flag right away that the front desk person who answers the phone said "I have no access to pricing"; like it would really be impossible for her to have some kind of quick price list next to her phone to give me a ballpark of what I could expect it to cost? She would not tell me anything about pricing and said someone had to come out, but that "there is no charge for an in-home inspection." Of course no one's expecting an exact, to-the-penny quote over the phone, especially without even seeing it, because everyone's situation is different. But she wouldn't even give me a price range of what to expect. These people have done a job for me before and I was happy with the price and everything like that, ...but I think they're using variable pricing and sizing you up by sending someone into your house first to feel you out on what you can probably afford and then they present you with "fixed" price options off of a tablet anyway. Well, I've got to ask. If the option prices are fixed on a tablet, why can't the person answering the phone give somebody a price range??? Anyway, the guy came out and told me it was going to be $520 to unbolt the toilet, lift it up, reseal, and then bolt it back down. He was literally not even in there for 22 minutes. This tactic is designed to make you feel pressured and under the gun to just go ahead with it because now you've got someone standing in your house waiting for an answer. If the lady had told me over the phone that it was going to be over $500, I probably would've said "Thank you for your time. I'm going to call around and get some more prices." They knew that once they had someone in the house and ready to do the job, you're probably going to go forward with it because the next company might say "yeah I'll do $400 and I'll see you in three weeks" I talked to some friends later who had similar work done recently and they said "You paid how much????!! The standard for that job in this area is about $350. You got had." I'm never going to use Smooth Plumbing again, I strongly recommend you don't either.

We just had the most amazingly poor customer service from a contractor we've ever had…read more After getting an estimate on a tankless hot water heater from one plumbing company, we contacted P. W. Stilwell Plumbing & Heating in Brandy Station, VA for an estimate. Their man came out on January 27, took photos and notes, and told me we'd hear from them soon. After not hearing back from Stilwell for a week, my wife called and spoke with one of their employees, Nikki, who again said we'd get an estimate soon. We did, and my wife again called back to say we'd like to go ahead with the work. That was the last we heard from Stilwell until, on February 22, Kelly called again to say we were going with the first contractor because we hadn't heard from Stilwell. Nikki claimed she had left two messages on our phone number. We had no messages on our business, home or mobile numbers. Today my wife received an emailed invoice in the amount of $334; $105 to compensate Stilwell for pulling a county permit and a $229 "restocking fee," because they had ordered the water heater and were returning it. They were being charged a restocking fee, and were passing it on to us. Note that not once did we receive phone calls FROM Stilwell, nor did we receive email communication until this invoice arrived. My wife immediately called and asked what number Nikki had left the messages on. Nikki read back a number ending in 4577. One of ours ends in 4572. None of our other numbers are close to that. When she pointed out that the error was on Nikki's part and that we were basically being charged for her error, she was told we'd have to pay the fee or Stilwell would not release the county permit. Only one contractor can hold a permit on an address at a time. A call to the first contractor confirmed that they were unable to pull a permit for this reason. We had no way of knowing they were going ahead with the work order. Our old tank is showing rust, so we had to move on this. We'll have to pay over $300 to get Stilwell Plumbing to release the permit, yet Stilwell's employee admittedly called and left messages at the wrong number. I'm slack-jawed at the utter disgrace with which this company handled our call for service. Despite admitting the error, they refuse to back off on the charge. I hope that $334 makes your wallet full, Mr. Stilwell, because it hasn't done anything good for your name.
