After several days and another phone call, a surly gentleman showed up to take measurements. Have never heard back at all, despite leaving a vm. My parents called again for some soffit repair. Scott showed up a couple days later, but had left his ladder in La Porte. Promised to come back in a day or two. After more than a week, my mom called again and was promised someone would come right out to take care of repair. That was early June.... Nothing since then...Very disappointed!

There were only a few tiles that needed to be cut, to fit around the outlets, but the tiles that DID need cut kept cracking a few days after they were installed. So, he would take the cracked tile off, cut a new tile, re-install the tile, notice that it had cracked AGAIN, and repeated these steps over FIVE TIMES. We sought out advice from a few friends, but none of their suggestions worked. At this point, we just wanted the backsplash to be finished already, so I reached out to Cedar Valley Handyman and told them I would literally pay them to come install these last few tiles! The Handyman that I spoke with asked questions about what type of saw/blade we were using, what kind of adhesive we were using, etc. and was able to identify that we weren't using the correct adhesive for glass. The adhesive we were using was only for ceramic tile, and the pressure was causing the glass to crack. Mind you, my husband is a handyman himself, and even with years of experience this was new knowledge to him. We went out and purchased the adhesive they recommended, installed the last few tiles and as of a month later NONE OF THE NEW TILES HAVE CRACKED!! Of course I was impressed with their knowledge, but even more so I was EXTEREMELY impressed that instead of taking me up on my offer and getting paid to finish the job, they chose to offer FREE advice. If we ever run into more issues in the future that we can't resolve on our own, Cedar Valley Handyman will be the first company I call!

Upon arrival, the workers did not have on anything that identified them as Stanley employees. After I asked for introductions, I showed them all of the areas I wanted cleaned. Worker 1 then recalculated and gave me a price nearly double what I was quoted online, but I agreed. He then told me that they no longer apply the protective coat on the hardwoods. I said fine. Then he told me they have to test the flooring to make sure they could clean it, I said fine. Then he told me they didn't have the testing kit with them and had to go back and get one. I said fine. So while worker 2 went to get the kit the other started cleaning the tile in the master bath. Shortly there after, the 2nd worker returned, they tested the floor and told me they could not clean my hardwoods. So I then told them that was the main reason I called them so once they finish the bathroom, lets end there. Some minutes later, the 2nd worker came and told me I "may want to get my floor regrouted soon". I rushed to see what he was talking about to find that the grout over 50%of my floor was gone. Worker 2 then said "I don't know. I didn't see that when we started." Long story short, I told him I was disappointed and to please wait outside while I called their supervisor. While I was on the phone with Bob, the 2nd worker re-entered my home, unannounced and uninvited, with a bill in hand. His demeanor had changed and I felt very uncomfortable. Bob was on the phone refusing to accept that there was damage done and demanded that I make a payment. So I did. I wrote a $95 check. Worker 2 told me that Matt would be calling me to set up an appointment to come see the problem. That was nearly two weeks ago. No Matt. So, I put a stop payment on that $95 check. Wendy calls me to demand payment and said that my "floor must have had loose grout". I asked her if it were loose, why did her workers do a service on it? Why didn't they check like they did for the hardwoods? She then said "it's not their job to inspect your floors" and I needed to pay them $95 or she was going to sue me. I had to have a tile company come out and strip all of the grout from my floor and re-do the entire floor. I am going to incur a bill far larger than $95. I would have not even submitted this negative review if Stanley Steamer would have sent someone out to just see what I was complaining of. This tells me that Stanley Steamer of Cedar Falls/Waterloo, IA isn't at all concerned with the care of your property or customer service. They will also use intimidation tactics on a woman who is home alone without her husband.
