Oh no no ladies and gents, if you looking for an experienced colorist, Steer Clear! Did I mention Steer Clear? Nicole or "Colie" may be skilled with cuts and curly hair, in color she is desperately lacking them. Do not do what I did and what I'll never do again, take someones word on their credentials.
She was not listed as certified colorist on the Redken Salon Locater prior to this review, she all of a sudden appeared there after, how convenient. She sould post the certificate online for all to see.
I went in to change up my color, darker to lighter for the summer, we thoroughly discussed the aim for the end result: a very subtle ombre, looked at pictures and set aside 5 hours for it, 45 minutes of which I sat out in the hallway with a towel around my head, not because I was processing color or under heat, because she booked another client during my appointment....not cool
It started fine, she was pleasant enough, she did the first step of the double process and then proceeded to the next one, toning, then did another color over that, then she was finished. That's it. She didn't take any of the needed steps to achieve an ombre effect. In the end my overall hair color turned out being a really weird mix of yellowish, beigy golds and red tones, not cute. Apparently, achieving an ombre style is out of her league. She then referred me to another stylist after I politely said "you didn't do anything we talked about....."
I didn't trust her to fix it so I asked for a partial refund because I am fair like that, only to find out after I picked it up, along with a copy of an itemized bill that I opened at home, that "Colie" SCAMMED me for services not rendered. Oh yes she did.
She charged me double for an eyebrow wax at $18 a piece, and a mysterious "overlay" charge of $30 just because she wanted to apparently, everything else done was already accounted for.
The two bottles of color to tone was $130. The 20% discount on the coloring services she said she would give during the consultation was never applied, it went towards a product which was not the deal & she charged $30 to condition my hair after she rinsed out the color, which in most places is standard practice and not an extra charge.
I don't mind paying when its worth it, but this wasn't worth half of what was charged. Seriously, if I had the time I'd take her to small claims court just to teach her a lesson in etiquette and honesty, I would. I am not one to do that kind of thing but this was bad enough of an experience to make me want to.
All in all it was by far THE WORST salon experience I have ever had and I have been in the chair plenty. Do yourself a favor pay attention to credentials or you may end up very unpleasantly surprised. read more
