Sorry for mistypes. Cant correct without retyping review. I really hope the zlorien cleans up its act.

I was having a panic on my way to therapy and was turned away for being over 15 min late to a 60…read moremin session. I understand being charged the late fee which is 3x more than my copay but very disappointed my therapist refused to see me during a mental health crisis. I needed her in that moment and not only did I not receive services, I'm also out $85. Double whammy. Any other Healthcare provider would have supported their patient in that moment. I'm so disappointed by the 15 min rule. I guess they wouldn't be able to bill insurance for the full hour and make enough money off of us. They deserve 0 stars

I have worked for several years with Nurse Practitioner, Evan Dickstein of Cedar Ridge Counseling…read morein Eldersburg, MD. After several years of working with him, I have grown increasingly dissatisfied with his evaluations and treatment plans, etc. regarding my General Anxiety disorder diagnosis. It started out well, I felt that he listened well to my thoughts about medications, and even pointed me to resources about anxiety, such as mindfulness apps, etc. However, over the last 2 years, I noticed a trend where he started looking for everything he deemed as wrong with me and started pushing me to experiment with different medications, and even additional diagnostic evaluations for ADD and most recently for Autism. Even though he claims that he doesn't rely on diagnoses to treat mental health, he still rigidly abides by the medical model for treating anxiety with medication only and other mental health disorders, by pushing diagnosis as the be all to end all for your symptoms He has been on a perfectionistic quest to find the perfect medication for me. There is no room for nuances, such as life events that increase anxiety, work stress, unemployment, diet, exercise, etc., and other lifestyle choices that affect your mental health. Or even, the humility to admit that he might be incorrect in his assessment of you... There is no room for the possibility that a medication may not work 100% but still be effective enough to keep taking, such as my anti-depressant, Cymbalta, and if it's not working 100%, he will want to change it. This can lead to unwanted side effects and affect your quality of life. He pushed me to get evaluated for ADD and now Autism which was the last straw for me, and I realized that he just didn't get my personality type as an INFJ, and an extreme introvert, instead he wanted to label me as Autistic and push me to get expensive evaluations, possibly not covered by insurance, and get to a new therapist to treat it. And he wanted to screen me for autism, which I learned that only a doctor can do, not a nurse practitioner. I got second opinions from my therapist, who is more open-minded, and my Physician assistant at Frederick Primary Assocaites. I am so glad that I did because I might have spent time and money on an incorrect diagnosis, or even if it was true, my doctor pointed out that the research indicates that therapy for autistic adults has not proven to be effective and that it's more efficacious for children than adults. All these rabbit holes he took me on distracted me from dealing with my primary complaint, Generalized Anxiety Disorder. So my thoughts are this, take what he says with a large grain of salt, get second opinions from doctors, therapists, and people you trust. And lastly, trust yourself to know what works best for your treatment plan, don't let someone do the thinking for you, do your research about how mental health is diagnosed, it's more an art than a science with a lot of overlap in the DSMIV, such as the conditions, ADD and Anxiety. These overlaps make it very possible to encounter incorrect diagnoses! There is no medical test to diagnose ADD or Anxiety like there is for plantar fasciitis, such as an MRI, etc. Diagnosing mental health is complicated and nuanced...
