The Most Unprofessional Business Owner We've Ever Dealt With
Our experience with Right Touch has been shocking from beginning to end.
It started with Derek telling us the paint only needed 10 minutes to dry during a week of severe storms and flash flood warnings. When we expressed concern and asked to reschedule for a week with better conditions, his response was downright awful: "It's Colorado. What do you expect?" He also guilted us by saying his workers have families to feed.
This is an incredibly unfair position to put a customer in. We hired a professional painting company and expected sound judgment, quality work, and respectful communication. Instead, we felt dismissed and pressured to proceed despite legitimate weather concerns. Derek even stated that manufacturer guidelines and recommended application conditions don't matter because his experience is what counts. This is a troubling attitude toward guidelines that exist for a reason.
But that was just the beginning.
One of Derek's employees, a worker we genuinely liked, accidentally spilled oil from his truck onto our driveway. We understand that accidents happen. What appalled us was how the situation was handled.
Derek told us that the employee would use his own insurance and that Right Touch would not use company insurance because doing so would increase the company's costs. Ultimately, the employee did not use his insurance and instead paid for the driveway repair out of his own pocket.
Derek owns Right Touch and was leading our painting project. We found it deeply troubling that the employee ended up personally bearing the cost of the damage rather than the company handling the situation through its own insurance. Although we were told the employee chose this route himself, that was not how it came across to us. We witnessed what appeared to be considerable panic and anxiety from the employee, leaving us incredibly uncomfortable. We cannot know his financial circumstances, but the situation raised serious concerns for us about how Derek handled the incident.
To make matters worse, the driveway repair was done so poorly that we now have to hire another company to fix it. The workmanship was sloppy, and the finished result was unacceptable. We are left dealing with the frustration and additional expense of correcting a repair that should have been done properly in the first place. To be clear, Derek did not perform the driveway repair himself. Our concern is how the situation was handled by the owner of Right Touch and the unacceptable result we are now left with. We will be including photographs of the driveway so others can see the condition of the repair for themselves.
Throughout this process, we have tried to address our concerns respectfully and find a resolution. Instead, we have been left questioning the professionalism, judgment, and accountability behind how our project was handled.
Between the way our legitimate weather concerns were dismissed, the decision not to use Right Touch's insurance because of the potential increase in company costs, and the poor-quality driveway repair that we now have to pay another company to correct, this has been an incredibly frustrating experience.
A business owner's character is revealed not just when things go right, but in how he handles situations when things go wrong. We expected quality workmanship, accountability, and basic professionalism. Instead, we were left deeply disappointed and disturbed by the entire experience.
Whatever you do, do not use Right Touch. Based on our experience, we cannot recommend this company. We hope sharing our experience and photographs helps other homeowners make a more informed decision before trusting this business with their home. read more
