Yes RHD stands out in little old Adelaide as it offers the finest Japanese denim and top end casual wear. Yet, the store boasts that it harbors a culture which is made up of familiar faces and good crew.
The store is merely a half way house for every RHD familiar to hang out at, smoke out side the main doors and make inappropriate jokes about which chick slept with which RHD stud. I believe the words my friends and I heard one of the gentlemen say "yeah she took the d well"
Regarding approachable staff members and a friendly atmosphere? I and many others have voiced that it's almost intimidating to enter the store... There is nothing more awkward that walking into a shop front which is "guarded" by several men all drinking and smoking and yet no one is at the front table actually working. Then comes the guessing game which I like to call "who actually works here? and who is here just to drink free beer and waste time?".Walking into the store feels like you're interrupting a party which you weren't invited to.
Amazing jeans or not..... Feeling alienated as a customer is not worth all the Japanese selvedge denim in the world. Further more, if you buy a pair and they are faulty? Good luck getting your jeans fixed and back to you in a acceptable space of time. Rules around laybys change like the wind, but of course the customer is an idiot for not knowing that.
This is meant to be a business, instead it's where the usual heads all congregate because they either don't have jobs or actual homes to enjoy each other's company in. Pro tip for the young players, a store should not be a constant hangout, it's not a bar, it's not a clubhouse, apparently there is some mighty fine items inside....but good luck getting inside. If you're new to the store.... Goodluck. Oh and good luck finding the business now that's moved to Clubhouse lane off Hindley street. #getwest? No thank you. read more
