A BIG Shout-out to TJ and Decorating the Public for the spectacular job they did on our pool and…read moredeck in Austin TX! If I could give more than 5 stars I certainly would! We didn't want a "Me Too" spray-on cool-deck with plastic dec-o-drains like everyone else. We wanted something really special and finally decided on a Turkish Travertine deck. We quickly found out there is very little travertine expertise in the Austin area. We feel very lucky that we were able to find TJ because as you can see in the pictures he is a true artist! He did all of everything you see except the pool shell and pump equipment. He did all the base-work, concrete, coping and laid over 1000ft of "Autumn" travertine stone in a Versailles pattern. He also engineered the awesome drain systems in the concrete to work with the slotted travertine drain tiles. No plastic deck-o drains here! We couldn't be more happy with the results. We get raving compliments from all our friends and everyone that sees it. The guy with the pool company that came to turn-up the pool and give us pool school said "I absolutely love your deck! I turn up over 300 pools a year and this is my hands down favorite!" Now that's quite a compliment TJ! TJ was a really great guy to work with on this project. He takes great pride in his workmanship and doesn't cut corners. His prices are very reasonable and we are so happy with everything he did for us. Anyone needing any kind of stone work should definitely contact TJ. Check out the photos of his work on his website and you'll see why we chose TJ.

My wife dealt with these folks as I was out of town, so I never had any interactions with them. The price was a little higher than I expected since they were using my materials, but I wanted it done quickly and they got it done! The workmanship was ok, I would've liked it done slightly different, but I wasn't around to voice this, so who am I to complain? My wife was very pleased, so I guess I need to be!

When the serviceman from 1st Choice Central Texas left, I texted him and asked him to come back as…read morethe photos I took up inside the fireplace showed it was not clean. He said it was just soot and someone from the office would contact me to reschedule because he would not be returning. After waiting all afternoon, I texted a 2nd number the company had contacted me from and said I had safety concerns about our fireplace not being clean, but I received no response. I sent another text next day with no response. I contacted them several times through our Yelp messaging over the next couple of days, stating safety concerns and not being able to use the fireplace until we spoke with them, contacted them through their website form, and also left two courteous voicemail messages for their office letting them know we had safety concerns and asked for assistance. I had zero response to all of my efforts. I emailed and let them know I would be filing a complaint with the BBB and still received no response. I hired another company to come clean the fireplace and not only did he clean out a massive amount of soot and creosote left behind, he was stunned to find that the prior serviceman left his plastic brush and pole stuck up in the chimney. He gave it to me and I identified it as the brush the 1st Choice serviceman was using, as it was distinctive and particularly flimsy, which I noticed at the beginning of the clean. Things happen and if he had explained that his pole broke off and that he would have to come back with tools to get it out and finish cleaning, we could have moved forward. The basis for liability under negligence stems from an individual's failures to behave with the level of care that someone of ordinary prudence would have exercised under the same circumstances. He knowingly put our home and our personal safety at risk with a smoke and fire hazard, and that is egregious. It took months to settle our claim with our credit card company and get our money back. I've had time to consider my review and to post the facts without heightened emotion. Not cleaning the fireplace well and not returning calls for assistance is enough for a bad review but purposeful negligence is grounds for not being allowed to do business in this industry. The business office of this company has no excuse for failure to respond.

They came and repaired two small pieces and said they would be taking spots from another closet. Well, the two patches they fixed look terrible - they do not fit and they are going the opposite direction. Then, the "patch" they took from the other carpet was WAY bigger than the patches needed and didn't match at all. I did not even look at it because we were trying to move. Once I saw what happened we called back the following Monday and he was unwilling to do anything and said we already paid him.
