Jose and the crew arrived really quickly, and got started working right away. That's where the good part of the story ends. As I mentioned, my sewer main was clogged up, the toilets and showers were draining extremely slowly. Our house is pretty old and has a troublesome spot, so this isn't the first time we've had a plumber snake the sewer main or hydrojet it. Because getting the sewer main cleaned out is kinda "routine" to me (once every year or two in these old houses) I didn't really pay much attention to what they were doing. So after a few minutes, I walk by the bathroom and notice dark brown water streaming out of the toilets and filling up the bathtub and shower. I run outside in a panic trying to get the attention of the guy on the roof and realize there's another by the truck, so I tell them water is coming out of the toilets and they shut the machine off. We go inside. The good news, they say, is that the sewer is clean now and everything works fine. "What about all the poop water everywhere?!" I ask. Rather panicked. "Don't worry we'll take care of it." I was told. So I sat and waited. About 20 minutes later one of the plumbers walks in with a single microfiber rag and starts slowly cleaning up the floor in the bathrooms. He asks for some bleach. To their credit, the two plumbers did clean up most of the visible muck. There was still quite a bit under the toilet seats, the toilets were dirty. I ended up having to disinfect my bedroom pretty heavily and I'm still unsure if any sewage water seeped under the laminate flooring (they insist it didn't because they "cleaned it up right away") Afterwards the plumbers asked me to call the office to handle the payment. I called and was again asked for the full amount, no apology for the mess really. I told them what happened and the receptionist offered to "send Jose out tomorrow to clean it up some more". Like, you turned my bathroom into a biohazard and that's the best you can do? Aren't you supposed to bring in a professional cleaner when you cause an accident like that? A steam cleaner and a shop vac at least? They used one (1) microfiber towel and asked me for bleach! They didn't seem prepared for the chance of an accident at all. And the accident could have been avoided if one of the employees stayed inside monitoring the toilets and showers to make sure this didn't happen.

A different plumber had come out to clear the bathroom sink and declared it unfixable. He said we needed to tear into the wall and replace the drain pipe at a cost of well over a thousand dollars. I decided to get a second opinion and called Hydro Jetting South Bay. I'm SO glad I did. Adrian and Grisel came to the rescue big time. In addition to being some of the nicest people you'd ever hope to meet, they're plumbing superstars. Adrian did absolutely everything possible to get that pipe cleared. At one point his snake got stuck deep in the pipe, but he managed to retrieve it. The pipe was so badly clogged that the blade on his auger wouldn't even fit, so he improvised a solution on the spot, modified his approach, and got it through. He simply would not give up. The end result? Our supposedly "unfixable" bathroom drain is now completely clear. So is our kitchen sink. And it cost us a fraction of the money, time, and hassle it would have taken to tear open the wall and replace the pipe as the first plumber recommended. Amazing work, Adrian! Adrian also noticed corrosion on the shut-off valves under our kitchen sink and offered to send us a bid to replace them--something we appreciated. Hydro Jetting South Bay is the real deal. Adrian and Grisel are stand-up people who put in the effort to solve the problem and do the job right. After this experience, they'll be my first call for any plumbing or drain problem from now on. Jet Drain came out and began jetting the lines. Once cleared, they were able to see that the 70 yr old pipes under the house (on slab) were severely corroded and needed replacement. I was not expecting to replace all the waste pipes in the house, but after seeing the condition of the pipes, it was clear that it had to be done. They provided top-quality work at a very competitive price. Abi and his crew replaced all waste pipes under bathrooms and rerouted the kitchen/laundry line for more direct access to the main line. They also installed a cleanout at the main line. The work they completed is top tier quality. They were very considerate of the interruption the repairs had on our lives and coordinated their work for minimal disruption. At…read moreleast with car repairs, you find someone you can trust and you stick with that guy until the end of time. But plumbers or electricians? Egads! Who can you trust? Who's not going to overcharge you or try to find imaginary problems that also need repair? Well, in this case it was Jet Drain. Earlier that morning, Costco was scheduled to deliver a new washing machine to replace the one that died after over a decade of faithful service. RIP. After they showed up an hour too early unannounced, they told us the valves were the wrong type and in the wrong place so they wouldn't hook it up until we called a plumber. Oh my! Turning to Yelp, about 4 businesses responded and I chose 2 I felt had the most solid reviews. Jet was the first to show up and immediately I felt these guys were trustworthy. They explained what needed to be done and pointed out what Costco would be checking when they returned. I would have had them start right then but I had one more company coming out for an estimate and didn't want to blow them off. They were pretty honest too but he started with a complete overhaul, tearing down the wall and replacing all the pipes for $1,800. Now I know I will need that one day but Wednesday was NOT that day. He did give me a lower quote for what I actually wanted but Jet was still cheaper. I asked the other company to send me the estimate for installing the valve box and drainage system for future reference. He said he would. He never did. Glad I chose Jet. I called to see if they could return that same day to do the work and they were available. There was a problem with the old connectors not fitting the replacement valves so the job became more difficult, thus more expensive. They were able to cut one of the pipes in order to solder a new connector for one valve and he went back to Home depot and located a different valve that did work on the existing pipe saving me a few hundred dollars. That meant a $300 job only increased to $450 instead of the $900 he originally thought it would cost if they had to bust the wall in order to cut the pipe, although he did bring the price down to $750 because he felt bad the job was becoming so expensive. Thanks to his diligence, the price only went up a bit even with the extra time and labor. Plus driving to Home Depot to try and find something to make the project work. I am so pleased with the service I got from these guys. I'm not sure if it was Abi or Aramis (I neglected to get his name) but I would recommend Jet Drain to anyone looking for a plumber. These guys are now my go to. I've got a handyman for the little jobs but if I need the big guns, it's Jet Drain all the way.

I called on a Wednesday afternoon with sewage coming up through a shower drain. Cesar came out that evening and worked late into the night, but the line would not open, which told us this was not a normal clog. The next day they excavated, got down to the blocked section, removed the clogged pipe, and jetted it clear. Once it was open they ran the camera, and it showed exactly why this kept happening: the old clay pipe was cracked and offset, with a corroded section of cast iron next to it. Cesar walked me through the footage and laid out the options, and we went with a full trenchless pipe burst replacement. The thing that stood out most was the communication. Cesar answered every question I had, no matter how small or how many times I asked, and he answered them fast. Everything was in writing. The scope grew as they found more, but every increase was explained and quoted before they touched anything, and the final bill matched the contract to the dollar. When they ran into an extra connection at a bend they handled it at no charge without me asking. My tenant works from home with strict privacy requirements and a hard cutoff time, and they worked around her schedule every single visit. Small things, but they say something: the whole crew showed up in matching Charlie's uniforms, trucks clearly marked, everything organized. When the job had to pause for the city inspection, they tarped and secured the excavated soil, covered the pits with plywood, and left the property clean and safe with my tenants living there the whole time.
