I hired attentive care services for my mother back in November-December of 2015. I was extremely…read moredisappointed with their services. I spoke to some lady named laura (I think) in the Hicksville office. She promised me 3 aides and full coverage for the times I needed. Let's just say that they were able to cover 20% of that. I had to take off from work 3 out of 5 days a week to take care of my mom because they didn't have coverage. To make matters worse, the aides are lazy, incompetent, and have bad attitudes. They charged my company (private LTC) insurance $23.00 an hour. Meanwhile the aides told me they only get $9-$13 an hour. To make matters worse, Tammy who is the scheduler is completely incompetent. I signed an "assignment of benefits" form to have my LTC company pay them directly. They took a few extra weeks to pay them and I received a collections letter from an attorney they hired in Albany, NY!!!!! Just to add insult to injury. I work for the company whom I have the LTC policy for my mom. I informed them and their 3rd party research firm called Care Scout to NEVER, EVER RECCOMEND THEM WHATSOEVER!!! I am also reaching out to some contacts to have them investigated formally.

Having to deal with 2 unprofessional owners that speak in circles, is even worse. MAKE SURE YOU READ AND FULLY UNDERSTAND THEIR CONTRACT. They charge a security deposit on top of a a weekly invoice. They claim it's because they are protecting their employees but that's not the case. The aides are not very good either. Knowing that my father was extremely unsteady one of the aids left him unattended in the shower with no seat and he fell.

My mother is 89 years old and has a variety of health challenges as well as early onset dementia. Having dealt with several other agencies, both in NY and Florida with mixed results, I knew very early on that working with TLC Companions was going to be a much different experience. Their compassion and willingness to accommodate my mother's special needs greatly alleviated the usual stress of transitioning to a new agency. They quickly developed an effective schedule providing around the clock coverage and provided us aides who were not only capable, caring and compassionate, but who took immediate ownership of my mom's care and effectively dealt with her "occasional" difficult behavior. Additionally, TLC has been extremely reliable over the year since contracting with them, never failing to provide the required coverage - a highly unpleasant situation I sometimes experienced with other agencies. As an added bonus, talking to Greg, Robin or any of the office staff over the phone is always a joy and you walk away from these interactions with the understanding that these are truly nice people. If you are looking for a highly professional agency full of nice and caring individuals, I can not recommend TLC Companions highly enough.
