I was supposed to get a call from the director..that never happened...we were denied a hoyer lift when my dear Mom could not move...I was told it was ann expense they did not want...I also asked about supplies for her incontinence and was told that "we" ordered too much and it was getting expensive...under hospice rules, we are allowed all the supplies that we need. We were told that we needed to change nursed half way through her treatment, with no explanation. I had to call the on-call nurse twice and got no answer...I did notice that they have a lot of turnover...I had an excellent appointment with two of the on-call nurses and they went about and beyond...Calan and Dana were great..the others, not so much! Everyone from the office staff to the caregivers are incredibly friendly, and most of the…read morecaregivers are very hard workers. However, the company had a hard time finding caregivers who met just a few basic requirements even though prior to signing up we were advised it shouldn't be a problem. It also functions more like an independent contractor model, so there was no stability in keeping the same caregiver (e.g., one took the job but didn't have reliable transportation for doctor appointments even though we communicated in advance that this was a primary need, one didn't want to stay on the job because they didn't want one that involved a lot of transportation to appointments, another didn't want to stay on the job due to the commute time). With each change, we had to train new caregivers, which was time consuming. So we're trying out a company where the caregivers are actually employees of that organization, and when caregivers are switched out they handle the training so that we don't have to. So far so good with this other model; it works much better for our specific needs which Granny Nannies was unable to meet. But again, everyone was super friendly, it's just a very difficult business model that doesn't work for our situation.
