My friend and I went out of our way to eat here, driving up from Schaffhausen. I had a delicious bratwurst, which was a foot long and about two inches thick. The sausage came wrapped in it's own paper sack and was served with a small bread roll. In The States, I'm used to getting sausages on a bun. The bun is just filler, I'd rather have the massive sausage! My friend and I sat on a nearby bench eating our meat quietly. Gemperli is one of those treats that will make everyone silent until they finish their meal. It's just so savory! The next time I'm in Switzerland, I'll be having my friend bring me back to St. Gallen, just for a Gemperli. They need to open up a shop in The States! Price per person: CHF7.00

Sometimes I have no clue what I want to cook then I pick not so busy hours meaning not lunch or just when they're about to close so when they have enough time they gladly suggest you what you could cook. From all types of meat they also sell cold cuts and cheese plus small things for your Apéro, and even fresh fish. You can also find that Swiss small bread Bürli which I highly recommend. They also have a fantastic corner for ready to eat food warm and cold. If you feel hungry don't think twice and go there they always have a fantastic menus. They have some traditional things which they always have like burgers and sausages but then the menus always change on a daily basis. For a barbecue at home I'm a big fan of the tomahawk and the porkchops especially if they are from the Alps. They have their own fridge where they dry age the meat themselves. Also not to miss are their own sausages which you can throw on your barbecue there are the Italian sausage Lughanige *big high five* so good when bbqed, and their homemade pork sausage. From the things to go I absolutely love the red fatty sausage Schüblig. It is super filling so I can't have it every day :( Also their hamburger is good and compared to Zurich prices a little steal. The best thing I saved for a the end: I was having my whole family coming over for Christmas dinner and I wasn't sure if that them Turkey would fit in my oven. When I told this they didn't hesitate and told me that they would prepare the turkey for me and then I could just come and pick it up. Being a host I didn't want them to prepare the turkey so then they suggested I could pick up the cold turkey, stuff it and prepare it myself and then just bring it for the baking time and then pick it up again. They were even so kind to give me a pro box where food remains warm four hours. I think this is the best way you can satisfy your customers especially if they are a little bit difficult and picky like me :)) high-five to that special butcher team and of course five star review. (On a side note please support this business as it is a family business with the tradition and Zurich has small businesses disappearing more and more. I always thought they must make a ton of money to be able to pay the rent at this location but then I got to know that the property is owned by the city and this is how they can survive in the middle of the old town)

You have to look deep at those that are concerned about the product, committed to quality and the treatment of said produce. Jogi has a deep understanding of what it takes to raise animals the right way and is very detailed in how his farmers raise their livestock. I've had some of the product he's produced over a handful of meals and it's great to know that something so delicious comes from a place where it is produced with the utmost care

A very classy restaurant with brilliant food and good service…read more I visited St Gallen to see the famous Abbey (well worth the visit!) and was sent to Segreto when I asked where the best restaurant was. Segreto is Italian for "secret" I was told; but if it is, then it shouldn't be! The restaurant isn't in the town, but a short drive away. It is a truly idylic environment and the restaurant seems to organically grow from the formal dining room into a conservatory-style outside and then a stylish garden area. There is also a big outside casual dining area, though I'm not sure if that is part of the restaurant or not. The food is exquisite and clearly cooked by a deft and delicate hand in the kitchen. With such cuisine, I often find stuffy service, but not here where it is confident and professional. The wine list is very extensive and it is easy to find a complimentary wine. My overall thoughts are that this is a fantastic restaurant. I will certainly add this to my list of "must go" places, when I return to the St Gallen area.

So how does it comes that a German can cook Italian specialities from agnolotti , guancia Di Vitello , carpaccio di spigola so heavenly (and not just Italian food , try the fois gras...) ? It happens that he cooked for more then 2 years for Heinz Beck in Rome , a legend there with 3 stars Michelin. If Martin continues to cook like this Its likely he will get his Michelin stars soon too. Another detail I like about this restaurant is that it has one of the best wine lists in Switzerland to really affordable prices. Some of the wines cannot be found cheaper if bought in a store.
