A very classy restaurant with brilliant food and good service.
I visited St Gallen to see the famous Abbey (well worth the visit!) and was sent to Segreto when I asked where the best restaurant was.
Segreto is Italian for "secret" I was told; but if it is, then it shouldn't be! The restaurant isn't in the town, but a short drive away. It is a truly idylic environment and the restaurant seems to organically grow from the formal dining room into a conservatory-style outside and then a stylish garden area. There is also a big outside casual dining area, though I'm not sure if that is part of the restaurant or not.
The food is exquisite and clearly cooked by a deft and delicate hand in the kitchen. With such cuisine, I often find stuffy service, but not here where it is confident and professional.
The wine list is very extensive and it is easy to find a complimentary wine.
My overall thoughts are that this is a fantastic restaurant. I will certainly add this to my list of "must go" places, when I return to the St Gallen area. read more
