Dr. Newberry is an excellent doctor. I came to him in December of 2022, having had pulsatile tinnitus in my left ear for six months. Before meeting with Dr. Newberry, I had seen several other providers (an NP, an MD, and a PA) through other organizations and they all either dismissed the seriousness of my symptoms as anxiety and allergies, or misdiagnosed me with an ear infection or Eustachian Tube Dysfunction. Dr. Newberry's approach was completely different. He was the first doctor who actually took me seriously. He was immediately concerned because it turns out persistent one-sided pulsatile tinnitus can be a symptom of a very serious and potentially dangerous condition called a dural AV fistula; however, while he mentioned the possibility of a dAVF (among other conditions), he also didn't jump to conclusions. He was very thorough. Over the course of a few months, we did some blood work, scans, and tests to figure out what might be causing it. When one of those scans finally came back abnormal, Dr. Newberry provided an immediate referral for me to see a neuroradiologist who eventually diagnosed me with a dural AV fistula. Dural AV fistulas are rare and complex, and I say this to point out that Dr. Newberry didn't let this deter him; he didn't discount a dAVF as a possible diagnosis, despite the fact it was unlikely because I didn't have any headaches at the time (a hallmark symptom of dural AV fistulas). I'm so grateful to him because other providers obviously dismissed the possibility that I had such a rare condition, probably because it was simply unlikely. Had I not seen Dr. Newberry, it's very possible this condition might have gone undiagnosed and led to a stroke or brain hemorrhage in a decade or so; alternately, it could have eventually led to a misdiagnosis of dementia or other neurological conditions due to the impact it can have on cognitive functioning. In general, Dr. Newberry is very easy to talk to and has a great bedside manner. He's a good listener, and I would describe him as highly competent and on the cutting edge of ENT medicine. As someone who has been repeatedly let down by medical providers over the years, I find myself trusting his opinion. He can see the big picture as well as the details, and never loses sight of the fact that his patient is a human being. My experience with Rhode Island ENT as an organization has also been great. I have found it very easy to schedule appointments with them. The receptionists and medical assistants are pleasant and competent. They send appointment reminder text messages which is helpful. I have never had any issue with them forgetting to order a prescription or send in a referral, or any hiccups with insurance. Though I do remember experiencing some initial frustration trying to schedule an appointment as a new patient due to the call routing, since I've become a patient, I've found it very easy to work with them. read more

It's very hard to be treated for allergies when they cancel your allergy testing twice over the course of several months due to lack of staff. The second time they canceled they said someone called me, but I had no message. They could not provide the time or day that the message was left. I had discontinued allergy medication prior to the test for nothing. My referral will be expired by the time they can get me in, and that's if they don't cancel a third time. read more

What a joke this place is. I am i've been waiting 45 minutes to see a doctor. I switched offices thinking maybe this office had better time management but it seems the whole company struggles with this. I was told by the office manager when I asked how much longer that they had a 40 minute wait. I asked why someone wouldn't call so I wasn't sitting around wasting my time and I was given a lame answer and told if I would like to seek services elsewhere I could. This will be my last visit with this company. read more

We came here for our daughter who has chronic ear infections. The office staff is pretty unresponsive. I left the surgery coordinator probably 5 messages before I finally complained to someone at the front desk... when they got the surgery coordinator on the phone her response was, "I had a note on my desk to call you back". A week+ later? Right. Additionally, I have had to wait an unreasonably long time past the scheduled appointment time. Not only am I instructed to arrive 15 mins early (which I did...every time) I have never been seen less than 25 mins after my scheduled appointment time, once it got up to 40 mins (and that's just how long it took to get us in a room... never mind the additional wait for the doctor after that). With a one year old, and not a child friendly waiting room, it is literally impossible for us to keep coming here. I am sad to say we had surgery with one of the doctors here... and not a single successful post op appointment due to us having to leave. I don't care who is a doctor and who is not. People deserve respect, and deserve to have their time respected. we're in the market for a new ENT. Would advise highly against coming here. read more

I had an appointment at 10:00 and didn't see the doctor until 11:00. Once we finally got started, Dr. Emery kept cutting me off as I told him the series of events that led up to the visit. I have splintered filling material buried in my tongue which has been infected twice since October after the fillings were put in, and this is the fifth doctor I've had to go to. He gave my tongue a quick look with his naked eye, mashed my tongue right in the sore spots with tongue depressors, charged me $150 and said, he didn't see any splinters and come back in three weeks. The splinters are tiny and buried under two healed infections. I will not be going back. read more

I just want to state that Dr. Tarro was a fantastic doctor, however his office staff are so rude and ridiculous I will no longer be seeing this doctor. I waited over an hour and half to see this doctor only to be met with extreme rudeness. They also tried to charge me for a post op appointment because it has been more than 90 days since my last surgery. Why? Oh because they canceled my last THREE appointments and then couldn't book me for months at a time. The appointments are scheduled too close to each other. They are overbooked and overworked AND IT SHOWS!!!! I would not recommend this facility to ANYONE!! read more

Arrived at 2:10 for a 2:15 appointment and had to fill out paperwork. No biggie. Since they are at reduced appointments because of Covid-19 one would think that things would go quickly. Nope. 3:20 pm comes around and nothing yet. I walked up to the desk and asked for my co-pay back since I did not get serviced in a timely manner, I will not pay to wait. I had surgery this past Friday and found Dr papazian to be a great doctor was nervous as hell before my operation but the nurses at Fatima were wonderful every single one of them when the surgery was over they were there from the start when ever I rang my bell they came in they were awesome and the surgery was a success so far. So don't believe everything you hear because I read a bad review and was scared to death he's a great surgeon. read more

One hour and a half wait before I walked out. Scroll to another provider and value your own time. They won't value it here. And "someone will be right with you" is not something to say before leaving someone alone in exam room for 15 minutes. And when I told the staff I would not be returning to the practice, and that an hour and half wait was unacceptable, there was no apology, and no request for me to reschedule. Dr. Tarro is AMAZING. So kind, informative, and patient as well. He did my septum and sinus surgery and I am not kidding when I say my life has changed. I am so thankful for his amazing work. The only negative comment I have about his practice is the front desk staff at his Johnston location is horrible. The main receptionist is very rude, never smiles, and is not accommodating whatsoever. read more

A great office full of great people! I go in once a week for allergy shots and the staff could not be nicer!! They take cash, checks or credit cards for co-pays and the service is always fast! I can't recommend Dr. Tarro and the rest enough. A+ read more

Please be careful here and get second opinions from a better group outside the state. They are medieval compared to other practices and luckily I sought a second opinion from an amazing group in Boston who actually had equipment and medical resources. The doctor I saw at the RIENT did nothing but a sleep study and put a light up my nose. Granted it is a good place to get the process started (you always need a sleep study for any ENT problem), but that's it. Please, for your own benefit get a second opinion on whatever they recommend. The only recommendation they had for me was a CPAP mask for the rest of my life, a "painful" surgery where they rip out my inner nose, or living with it. After my second opinion, and a painless non-invasive medical procedure (some have minor pain, I didn't; fair amount of bleeding), I am breathing better and my quality of life is better than I ever could have imagined. I can't say this enough...get a second opinion. read more
