A friend group hosted a craft night here recently and we had such a great time. Board & Brush is a franchise, but this particular one is run by a family of folks that are just so warm and welcoming that it feels like coming to a workshop in someone's home. We all pre-selected the crafts we wanted to make before the event (every one could choose their own, and there's a fairly wide range of things to make), and by the time we arrived, everything was prepped and ready to go. Even if we all chose different things to make, we were given clear and easy directions so that no one ever felt lost. Best yet, if we made any uh-ohs or mistakes, expert hands were always nearby with a fix. I'm accustomed to crafting spots that require you to leave your item there for a night or two to try or process. It means an extra trip out, which can be annoying if you're not from the area. I loved that there was no such wait time with our crafts here. The making-and-processing time was enough during the event slot that we could all take our new charcuterie boards, signboards, and baskets home that very night. Thanks to our night there, I now have a handsome custom wooden tray in our living room that I can proudly point to as a piece of decor I made from scratch (well, sort of). Prices of crafts depend on type, difficulty of prep, and optional add-ons. The space inside has a ton of ready-made signs for inspiration (all of which I learned is actually for sale). Though they're located on a Main Street, there was a good amount of street spots available, and then a nearby lot for additional parking.

Valley Cottage, NY - before modern refrigeration became a thing, ice was once a commodity, cut from…read morefrozen bodies of water and shipped around the world. The Knickerbocker Ice Festival celebrates the history of the region's 19th century ice industry and is named after the Knickerbocker Ice Company, which harvested ice for global trade from Rockland Lake, where this festival is installed. The 2026 festival, which took place last weekend, featured ice sculptures with live carving demonstrations, snow igloos, bonfires, a woodland portrait installation honoring Ramapough Munsee Lenape women, and historical exhibits under the welcome pavilion. Thanks to the recent snowstorms and cold blasts we've been blessed/cursed with, Rockland Lake froze solid enough to walk on, and adults & kids happily slid around and frolicked on the slippery surface. For a festival, I wish there had been more festivities. Only a handful of ice sculptures dotted the lakefront walk (though they are beautiful and detailed, and were carved live over the festival weekend where yould watch artist Shintaro Okamoto and his crew at work), and limited food options (jerk chicken food truck and bakery - though the bakery ran out of hot chocolate by 2pm on the day we went). We arrived early afternoon of the first day and igloos were still being built by the various sponsorship teams, so perhaps day two saw more action. I later saw photos on social media of ice sculptures looking spectacular against the setting sun, so late afternoon may be the most aesthetic time to visit. I applaud the festival organizers for their extraordinary efforts in bringing back this community-centered winter tradition, and showcasing a unique aspect of Rockland County's history and heritage, as well as the talent and craftsmanship of local artists. I bought a signed monograph written by resident writer Spencer Hirsch which beautifully captures the spirit and poetry of that era. The ice sculptures should be up for as long as this Arctic weather allows, and the pavilion display may remain on view for the rest of the week, so even post-festival, Rockland Lake still makes for a picturesque if frigid outing if you're in the area.

It offers tables for people to sit at, an area for food to be served, a dance floor and enough room for a DJ. Since there is no bartender, you can hire your own. This place also has a small bar area for he or she to work at and a place for guests to get their drinks from. Everyone had a great time and would personally be keeping this place in mind in the future for anyone who needs advice on where to have a graduation party or host any event of that kind.

Last night's pitcher reached a respectable 94 MPH with his fastball and plays were quick and exciting. The venue has a great vibe and lots of activities and events for parents, kids and basically any fan of the sport. And, honestly, for $20 I can't think of a better way to spend a fun outing on a beautiful summer night. Kudos.

This organization feeds the elderly and most vulnerable people in our communities. They are very much appreciated by the people they serve. The music was really good and the venue was fantastic as the crowd was able to get up close to the stage and really enjoy the performance. We got great weather and no rain until we were leaving so we really enjoyed ourselves. Cold beer and fantastic funnel cake thanks to Burnell's bakery from Peekskill NY made the night. They had several other food trucks available for those who wanted to get a bite too.

This sanctuary exists to protect animals and plants as well as provide information on preserving…read morethe environment. It's not a large property but these sanctuaries are essential. It's a great place to bring your kids and give them some incite on nature. You can go by during business hours to take a walk, watch some birds, learn about nature, take some pictures or have a picnic. There is a book store and a gift shop on this beautiful property.
