I've never written a Yelp review before but I wanted to share a few details of my experience of Ridge Dental Associates (who completely RULE), especially with anyone who might be on the fence about going to see a dentist.
I have been a patient of theirs for a few months now, and am still in the process of undergoing treatment. I've had a lifelong fear of dentists so I was especially nervous about signing up to have work done; and I needed a decent amount of work. In my experience they are phenomenal at dealing with nervous patients and the quality of their work is impeccable.
They are located in Bay Ridge on Bay Ridge Parkway between 5th and 6th. The overall appearance of the place is nice; I'm pretty sure they also have a wheelchair accessible ramp. I've called them a few times with questions and they're very responsive and easy to reach. The real area that they differ from everyone I've previously worked with is how they treat their patients.
Every member of staff I have encountered at Ridge Dental Associates has been incredibly kind and welcoming. The owner Steve must be dealing with a lot of work, yet he still takes time out to talk to me about how I am and tell me about his family. Being treated like a human being definitely has a calming effect when you're nervous. The dental technicians are reassuring; when I switched dentists one time they reminded me at least I still had a friendly face in the room. The dentists themselves (I've so far had 2 here) are extremely talented and professional. I can honestly say I haven't felt any pain in a single procedure. I've actually lost count of how many times the staff have made me laugh here, which is the exact opposite of what I expected going into this.
David, my first dentist here, is a remarkable person. His patience and sense of humor were all an integral part of me overcoming my fear of dentists, or learning to deal with it. He said "you've just had some negative experiences and we're going to replace those with good ones". People as genuine as this are very rare these days.
In selecting these guys as my dentists, the process was very arbitrary. The place looked nice. It was close to my house. I only wish I'd known sooner what a decent group of people work here so I had to write a review.
If you're scared of the dentist and need help pick up the phone and these people. They have changed my life and I hope they can do the same for anyone else who needs it.
Best of luck! read more
