I really wish I could write a better review, but I had a pretty terrible experience here. I lived in the neighborhood for two years and thought this local office would be a nice place to try.
One of the receptionists is nice, the other seems like the fact that you exist is an inconvenience, and that fact that you're talking to her is a crime. This holds true in person and on the phone.
Some of the rooms are updated. Some look like they're straight out of the past with wood paneling and yellowing machines.
The dental hygienist was great! Seriously like 10/10 I loved her. She made fun conversation, was really nice, and worked quickly. My gums didn't hurt like they sometimes do after a cleaning and I loved the use of the water pick. Got my X-rays done, no problem. During this portion of the visit I was so happy and thought I'd found my new dentist office.
Then Dr. Graziano came in. I tried to keep an open mind even though he talked over me. He acted like he understood my job better than I did and told me a very long, and unrelated story, and his voice got visibly terse when I didn't know some of the people he was referring to (not your every day celebrates either).
He found two small cavities between my teeth, which I'd been expecting since it had been a couple years since I'd been able to make it in (also, very condescending about that. I know I SHOULD have come in, but there's no need to shame me for something I can't change). I need to stress that I was not having sensitivity, or temperature issues of any kind during this time.
I've had 2 cavities in the past which were filled by my previous dentist with no problems. I scheduled an appointment to have the cavities filled. I had them filled a week later, in one of the modernized rooms, and went home to let the numbness wear off.
I was in so much pain after this. The bite was noticeably off, and the edges of the filling were sharp against my tongue. I had one filling on the top left and one on the bottom right. The top left one throbbed non-stop. It hurt to chew on both sides of my mouth, the teeth that were filled were extremely sensitive. Things like chewy bread crusts caused so much pain I would have to stop eating. I called so I could come back in for an adjustment to the bite.
Dr. Graziano did adjust the bite, but was very curt about the whole thing. It only needed minor adjustments, but I have a small mouth, so small adjustments make a huge difference (which had been true for my past fillings). I told him about all the pain I was in and he insisted that he "did everything right." He just kept repeating that, over and over, like somehow that would fix it. No sympathy. He implied that I must be exaggerating the pain level, even though I have a history of high pain tolerance. I said the top left one was causing me so much pain it was hard to eat at all. He took X-rays and pointed to them on the screen saying "does anything look wrong to you? It looks perfect to me." I don't know sir, I am not a dentist. How would I know? Finally, after sighing dramatically he told me the only thing he could do was redo the fillings, like that would be a deterrent. That's fine! I just wanted something for the pain to stop. I agreed to only have the top one redone.
Graziano was so incredibly rude to me when I came back in the next week to have the filling redone. He implied more than once that I was making this whole thing up. To what end??? I told him I was not enjoying spending my one day a week off coming in to his office and having my teeth worked on, three out of four weeks in one month. He told me he hoped not to see me again for six months, not in a joking way, like I was the most obnoxious person he'd ever come across.
The filling was a little better after that, but still sensitive. The other, on the bottom right, was still giving me trouble, and after feeling belittled at my last visit, I decided to return to my previous dentist out of state to have him look at the work. I called the office to get my X-rays sent over, so I wouldn't have to pay for them a second time. Got the snippy receptionist, who was hostile at the request. I told her I didn't trust the doctor and I wanted to get a second opinion.
They didn't send all my X-rays, only a few. When I got the second opinion I was told there were no cracks or obvious mistakes. I was told the work was actually good dental work. Sensitivity can last for up to a year, even with good work. Which would have been fine if Graziano had explained that, instead of insisting I was being a drama queen and he "did everything right"
When my bill came in the mail, there were no instructions on how to pay it, so I had to call again. I was told not to come in because, direct quote, "I don't think the doctor would like to see you." This was by the nice receptionist. I was shocked. Clearly Graziano had expressed that opinion for her to say that. Unbelievably unprofessional.
Disappointed. read more
