ZERO STARS. My 18yr old son needed a reliable car to get back and forth from college in WI. He found a 2010 Ford Focus at Ride Auto Sales and liked it. I do light car repair so I came along to test drive it. It was clear immediately that it wasn't braking as kt should. The new calipers on the front and rusted drums on the back end told me they only did half the job to get it off of their lot. I asked Marco to reduce the cost by $200 for the rear brakes that clearly needed to be done as it was a safety issue. Marco said he couldn't reduce the price at all. My son bought it "as-is" and we drove it home to do the rear brakes but we couldn't get the drums off. We took it to a shop where they used a drum puller and the rear brakes were completely gone, only the new front calipers were stopping this car. After spending over $500 on parts and labor, I emailed Ride Auto Sales for them to refund part of the cost of this car because Fraud Exception and Safety Defects are serious matters under MN Commerce Laws. They've been sued by other "customers" but beware, my son wasn't experienced enough to realize the brakes were only operating at 50% and I had to get it safe before he drove back to school. If you do not have someone inspect the car you wish to purchase, don't buy from here. Others have said they enforce a $200 non-refundable deposit to have someone inspect their cars. Ride Auto represented the car I bought as having a "clean" title. Went to look at the car, made note of the amateur job of trying to hide quite a bit of rust, I was okay with it. Paid a deposit on a Saturday, but, could not withdraw cash from bank as it was closed. Returned later in the week to pick up the car, in a hurry, could not understand why they were airing up all the tires. When I got home, I noticed a dent that was not there when I first inspected the car and paid a deposit. Called them - they said they have photos of the car and the auction house's condition report that noted the dent. The interior was detailed, rust spray painted over, but a flat tire was not fixed prior to sale. Spend hundreds to detail the interior but don't fix a simple flat? The next day I went to a tire shop to fix the flat since I had to pull a boat 400 miles the next day (told Ride Auto pulling a boat was the only reason I needed this SUV). On the way to the tire shop, started to set up the systems, found that the blindside indicators had both been turned off. At the tire shop, I learned the tire did not have a leak - THREE rims were cracked!!! They did not have rims in stock to fit the tires presently on the car - I had to leave in 12 hours to pull a boat and it was 5pm on a Friday. Only rims they had were a different diameter size so I had to buy new tires as well --- $2,000!!! They refused to provide the photos they said they have of the dent or the auction house's condition report. Reporting to the MN Attorney General Office, MN Dept of Commerce and the BBB - they are TOTAL SCAMMERS!!! read more

Bought a 1955 Bel-Air from them on-line. There ad said it was in great condition and did not disclose ANY issues with the car. Even did a video walk around and again did not point out any issues. When the car arrived it had so many issues it's even hard to list them all. Glove Box was missing, Gas Gage not working, Blinkers not working, Horn not working, Dome Light not working, Power brakes not working, Engine had no power and leaked about 1 quart of oil every 3 days. I had to touch up the paint on almost all panels and then color sand and buff the entire car. Chrome trim was dinted on 5 pieces. Had to replace carb, distributor, radiator, fans, chrome trim, door handles rusted (replaced), mirror rusted (replaced). Radio did not work (replaced) I called them when the car arrived and told them a list of issues and there reply was "What did you expect a $70,000 car" I said no but I paid $40,000 and I expected a very nice car. I bought a Ford escape from here less the 45 days ago, 2 days after having it I took it to get it's oil change at valvoline and they told me there was a pretty bad oil leak so I told them I would take it to my mechanic to look at it in a few days well a day later the check engine light came on so that night I dropped it off with my mechanic he couldn't get to it right away but did the following Monday he then proceed to tell me that there was something wrong with the camshaft and there was something leaking out of the head gasket and I should bring it back but then Richard told me to bring it to crosstown auto who then found multiple things wrong but Richard ignored that and said he took it to ford and ford found nothing wrong with it well I took his word on that after sitting and thinking about it for a few days but then when I did take it out the check engine light came back on and then after a day of driving it started to over heat and not want to move and I ended up stranded and had to wait for someone to come and get me and the car and bring us both back home. This place is a joke and when they say they will help u if something is majorly wrong with the car u buy don't believe a word. I didn't buy the extra coverage but it happened before the 7 day period was up and multiple times he was told something was wrong and now im stuck with a car I can't afford to fix and have nothing to drive because I don't want a repo on my credit. We are extremely disappointed... We purchased a CRV here which had a clean carfax. It drove fine for the test drive. The sales staff were cool and friendly. They had cats which was awesome and I wanted to give glowing reviews for that! We put the car seat in and drove it, the check engine light and traction control light came on. My wife, baby, and I were excited for a safe and reliable car. We were left stranded without a vehicle. They wouldn't help us at all because of no warranty... Our local auto shop is going to replace the ATC and Timing Chain.. There is also a week+ wait till they have availabilities. So we are going to still be out a car..I wanted to like them, but now I'm wondering if they do appointments so they can clear engine codes/ lights. Such a bummer. I do recommend visiting this place. They are so rude and unprofessional it will take your breath away. You can expect to be ignored until you approach a "salesman". I was able to wander around the lot for about a half hour unmolested. If you are interested in a vehicle be ready to sell yourself. You will be asked, and have to convince them, that you are indeed ready to purchase a car TODAY. I had to argue with them before they would allow me to go for a test ride. They apparently will not abide looks Lou's. They will grudgingly ride along. We had the deluxe package, 2 grumpy salesmen in the back seat. They will tell you exactly where to go, instructing you on every turn. Once back from the test drive be prepared to make good on your commitment to purchase TODAY. This is like no other experience I have encounter as a customer. I was so taken aback i left in a daze. Did that really happen? Are they a front for some illegal activity? How are they in business? You have to experience this for yourself. There was lot more to my experience and it makes for an entertaining story. It will make you appreciate any other car dealer. Avoid this dealer! I was considering a pickup truck at this dealer that was advertised as "rust free." I returned to inspect closer and possibly to make an offer. When I spoke with Richard he said this "Southern" truck was bought at auction and brought here. The first flaw I noticed was that rust spots/pitting on the sides was painted over. I then got on the ground to look underneath the bed. At first glance, the area around the rear wheel looked okay but then I noticed they had just painted everything black to hide rust. I then crawled underneath further and looked where the paint sprayer missed. Scam artists. My husband, who grew up in Minnesota, called them about a truck they posted online. He was traveling to see it from Chicago. They called him three times within a half hour, first calling to tell him he'd have to put down a deposit to see the truck because he was coming from out-of-state. Have you ever heard of such a thing? Then they called him back to tell him there would be $150 worth of extra fees & that there were features listed on the truck ad as working that don't work! My husband, of course, objected to the extra fees and told them to knock a hundred dollars off the asking price for the things that didn't work. He gets off the phone with Richard and minutes later they call back saying they refuse to sell to my husband. BUYER BEWARE!! These guys buy junk, cover up the issues, and resell for a huge profit. I bought a truck from them only to find out after getting it home that the supports attaching the bed to the frame are completely rotten with rust. The truck is unusable as a truck without a complete bed replacement. They covered all this up not only in nondisclosure, but also by physically masking it. Brand new drop in liner to cover the box, and welded two pieces of steel to support the box. And if that doesn't scare you enough to stay away, these goons were sued, appealed it all the way to the Minnesota Supreme Court, and LOST in 2018 for a fraudulent sale much like mine. Buckle up Ride Auto, I'm next! Phone calls to Attorney general in Iowa and Minnesota have been very helpful getting the process started. I drove 4 hrs to look at a pickup. I even called and told them i was out of state. Got there and was asked how i was gonna pay for it. I said check. He said no dont think so we dont work that way. I said call my bank he said nope. I said if i leave im not coming back. He was so rude and disrespectful. Asked who it was for i responded for my husband. He said well where is he. Left us standing at the pickup for 15 min we finally sat in our car. Then went back in to find him. But told us that someone bought a truck with a check and we couldnt. Will never go back. There is nothing on there web page about not taking checks or dealing with your bank. Also he could of said it when i called and said we was on our way. Honestly nice people , but I bought my 7.3 power stroke 2 years ago they said I couldn't drive it farther then a mile didn't think anything of it, drove it for a month spent 20thousans in repairs bought the truck from ride auto for 14 thousand dollars , I had to get transmission rebuilt, both my drive shafts were welded on together and put back on broke right off the highway and had my ball joints fly 70 mph on highway, both axels fix and defeated, all my vacuum lines, all my oil o rings were blown but you don't know these things after u drive the truck a while to let the engine warm up, and top of all that my whole body is so rusted and covered in touch up paint u couldn't tell until I took off my truck bed and saw full body size holes in my bed and no supports left in it but they covered it with a bed liner and painted it , honestly worst dealership for cars and trucks I've ever been too . I went here with a friend to look at a SUV that online looked really great. I got there an walked inside and asked if they would take my car on trade they said no, okay that is fine I could sell it somewhere else, but I still looked at the SUV I drove an hour to see. It looked great minus a few scratches but that didn't bother me. I asked to take it for a test drive to make sure it drives the way it should and all that good stuff, you know like you usually do when you are in the market for a vehicle. The guy asked if he could run my credit before I took it for a test drive, I informed him that we get vehicle loans with my husbands name and that he was at work and would not be able to make it in today as they closed at the same time he got off work but if I liked the vehicle we could fill it out online, and he would leave work early one day to sign the papers if we decided to buy the SUV, and he got really rude saying we cant let you take it for a test drive in-tell we do a credit check and then what happens when your husband comes here an wants to take it for a test drive? Why would I let you run my credit (or my husbands) before even seeing if that was the vehicle we wanted to buy? Its not like I was trying to buy a brand new corvette, or Porsche!!! I left and went down the road to another dealer and they let me take whatever I wanted to for a test drive. So at-lest my almost hour long drive wasn't for nothing. From what I have seen in some of the past reviews this is not the first time this has happened, I also said something to the other dealership I went to and they said that this is not the first time they have heard that being said to potential buyers. After being treated the way I was I am glad that when my husband was in the market for a truck we never came down to this dealer to look at one we really liked. Found an Excursion I wanted, they advertised it as a Rust Free Truck and found several spots on the vehicle but looked past that. I drove up to them and bought the truck and they had just had AC work done. The AC was not cold when in slow traffic so I asked if I could take it back to where they had the work done so they could reweigh the freon, I've ased three time and no help. I went to pull my camper and found that the brake assist wasn't just removed but had the wires cut way up into the dash which makes no since. I drove for three days and took to a diesel mechanic and found the oil cooler was in horrible shape and the mechanic said that they should have know about this and did not disclose this. I asked for help and they have not had the appropriate person call. They have a ton of diesels if you want to purchase spend the money to have someone else look at it first. I will not buy from these guys again. No reason why the appropriate person or manager not call me back and approve the ac (it would not cost them a dime) or call me back about the hack job and cool cooler issue. read more
