I recently underwent a medical procedure at Riddle and felt COMPELLED to write a review because of how FANTASTIC it all went. First of all - the surgery center is very nice. Open, bright, clean, spacious, plenty of charging ports, TVs that update you on the status of your loved one. Multiple bathrooms. No complaints about the waiting area. The staff were all amazing. From Diana who did my registration paperwork to the nurses (Jennifer, TRICIA, and Wanda), to the nurse anesthetist (Maria) to the anesthetist (Dr. Lay) - everyone made me feel SO COMFORTABLE. I've also been the breast center and the women's center this year. I was in and out of both appointments really quickly. I truly can't say enough about the outpatient surgery process, though. It was extremely comfortable and pleasant and everyone was sickeningly nice. read more

I feel uniquely qualified to rate hospitals because unfortunately we've been to all of the local ones as well as those in the Lehigh Valley, Hershey, NYC, and the Mayo Clinic. My wife had surgery here and a week's stay. We couldn't be more pleased. Parking is easy, the facility is bright and clean, and the care and everyone we met was amazing. Pre surgical care and explanations were better than any of her many experiences elsewhere. The nurses and doctors on the floor afterwards were caring and kind. Medically her outcome has been stellar thanks to that. We would absolutely return and recommend Riddle to anyone, even if it is not the closest facility for you. We couldn't be happier! read more

Parking is terrible and having a employee in a big white Mercedes SUV honking at you to move while waiting to pay parking is no fun.

Hip surgery. The staff was very nice and helpful. Made me feel very comfortable The food was pretty good also.

Husband was rushed to hospital. He is bedridden and wears a gold cross at all times. I usually remove it before they take him out to abulance, but they were rushing and did not get a chance to remove. He was rushed to imaging. Nurse called and was told that his gold necklace was put in a bag and zipped. It was put by his hip in the bed. When i went into his room it was not there. So something happened either on they way back to exam room or after he got back to room. Gold chain gone. Someone in hospital had to steal it. Very upset about this. Husband was out of it so would not know what happened to it or who took it. Very disappointed about this that someone at hospital would do this. read more

I don't know if I have ever left a review on Yelp, but reading these, I feel compelled to share my experiences. December 2024 - taken by ambulance to ER. EMTs asked if I had a preference, as I was living significantly closer to Crozier Chester, which was still open at the time. This was my first time with a kidney stone, and I was terrified, in the worst pain of my life, and having a panic attack from the nausea. It was roughly 6 am on a Saturday morning. All of the care I received - from the nursing staff, doctor, radiology techs, and even the person who wheeled my bed from the ER to radiology for a CT - was patient and kind. I'm sure kidney stones are commonplace for them, but as a first-timer, I'm sure I was not the easiest to deal with, between crying, panicking, hyperventilating, and then (once I agreed to pain meds) half-conscious. They were patient while I tried to arrange transportation home, and even made sure I had an extra blanket when I was cold. The next day, they called as a follow-up. Previous visits - June & August 2023 - I also went to Riddle Hospital ER (driven by another person by car) in both June and August 2023 for anaphylaxis. With no history and no known allergies, it made course of treatment more difficult. In both of these instances, the care was (again) kind, patient, understanding, and concerned. The visit in June 2023 was a mid-week mid-morning visit, and therefore less crowded. They were able to put me into a "room" in the ER. The visit in August was a Monday morning, which is notably one of the busier times for any emergency department. There were no "rooms" available, but when I came in to get checked in (both times, actually), the symptoms I was experiencing were seen as urgent, and I was taken back immediately; They treated me on one of the beds in the hallway. The physical limitations of the building are unfortunate, as they definitely could not have anticipated all of the other local hospitals closing and the influx of patients that would create, and therefore the necessity for a larger emergency department with more "rooms" and semi-private beds. They are doing an incredible job with the space they have to work in. My visit in June 2023 resulted in an overnight stay for observation. I had been taken upstairs later than meal requests are submitted to the kitchen, but the upstairs staff was able to get me something to eat, and even moved my IV port to a less irritating location so I could function more comfortably. I had to be monitored overnight, and the night nurses and aides were careful, quiet, and gentle. I have to note, the sandwich they got for me was incredible; it's been over 2 years, and I still think about that sandwich. So many complaints here about waiting times, lack of staff, etc. This is across the entire healthcare provider sector -- even scheduling a normal routine exam with a PCP can take months to get scheduled; finding a new medical provider is even more difficult, if possible. These particular complaints would be seen at ANY hospital. A lot of the wait is the triage staff sifting through to get the urgent cases treated and then people who maybe should have considered Urgent Care instead of the ER end up having to wait because, unfortunately (but also fortunately), their emergency is less life-threatening than someone else who may have come in after they did. The emergency department staff at Riddle (and likely any other local hospital that is still open these days) is working with the same tools they had before the other hospitals closed, but now with significantly more patients to treat. By comparison, my father lives somewhere else and is a "frequent flyer" at a hospital near to him. I find that I received better, more patient, and thorough care in my visits to Riddle ER than he has at any of his visits to that hospital. Also, a lot of reviews make it clear that people don't know what HIPAA is about and what is protected patient medical information vs not protected. read more

My brother was recently admitted to the PCU unit with pneumonia. His was a critical case with acute respiratory and renal failure. The amazing care team fought very hard to cure him--and they did. Ten days later, my brother was released to a skilled nursing/rehab center where he'll be working to regain strength and mobility. Given my brother is in his 80s and has some other health issues, this was a wonderful outcome. It could have easily gone the other way with lesser care...I'm very, very grateful for the professionals at Riddle--as is our whole family. Thank you everyone! This was the first time I felt the biased while visiting a hospital as an African-American woman. I spent 12 hours in the ER to be told I have fibroids and to treat them like cramps! They're not cramps!! The nurse "accidentally" forgot to put my order in for morphine and it wasn't until 2 hours later when my friend went to them did he remember. Mind you, they were on their phones when she approached them. At that point I was in and out of sleep. Another nurse was quite forceful removing my IV and when asked about a prescription for the pain..."take midol" after I explained it did nothing for me. I will never return to this hospital. read more

If there was a score of 0 it would still be too high. Patients sit in the halls of the ER with little to no attention. Nurses at the desk speak about patients with nicknames like the "lady who threw poop", the "oxygen lady", and they discuss things out loud. HIPAA is obviously not a concern here. They spend more time telling each other stupid stories about the patients than actually seeing patients. This is the 2nd time we've been here in the last month and it's not getting better. If there was a closer hospital we surely would go there rather than this joke of a hospital. It's unfortunate that people who need care line the halls while the doctors and nurses socialize. read more

ER was backed up and on the slow side but I do recognize they have overflow from Crozier's closing. After admission the doctors, nurses, office staff were excellent. Accommodating and caring.. cafeteria staff, cheerful and helpful. Health center three lower lobby Staff were NOT very kind , not eager to assist an elderly patient to get the veteran discount with parking. After we thought we received validation we got to the garage and ended up having to pay the incorrect price charged. There was no staff available outside at the garage exit to correct this woman employees error. We sucked it up, but perhaps the ladies at the desk in the lobby of building 3 need to be retrained in hospitality to patients. With the exception of those ladies My Overall experience, I rate a five. read more

Bad experience with one case worker and one nurse over there. Unbelievable. Can not believe that this one case worker and nurse could lie and flipped their words around. ER: everyday staff member was miserable, rude, main desk literally was on phones( fun stuff as I could see) and ignored me while I stood in front of them! I was inquiring about my son and several people wanted me to ask if there was a water fountain because they had been there 5-7 hours. So after about a good 3-5 minutes of being ignored, I looked at everyone in the waiting room and said sorry, I couldn't get an answer because they didn't want to get off their phones" So the one lady screams through the glass that I should have spoke up!!!! Well, I was literally one foot from her face and both women 100% knew I was there, but never lifted their heads from their phones. But it's my fault- right! My 21 year old son who was there for suicidal/ self harm issues was asked by triage nurse " you're 21, what do you have to be depressed about?" AAAHHHHHHH!!!!!! I made. a 911 call 12/22/24 for 88yr Which we've been sitting back in the ER for almost 11 hours with no results After calling the main number wanting to speak to a patient's advocate I started getting the customer service that was due once she left the ER area they placed her in a nice room but if I can just add one thing customer service goes a long way check on the rooms that you put these patients in and show them you didn't forget them this is only to make you better not make you look bad read more

Chronically understaffed. No doctors with 40 patients (physician assistant only). Another time there was one doctor for 60 patients. Five hour wait once you are triaged without seeing anyone. Lack of care, some patients not given food or water for over 13 hours. They will not check you into the hospital if you need more care or testing. Falsified doctor's notes afterwards to say that the patient refused care that was never offered. Horrible horrible, horrible empathy-lacking people. Needs to be shut down. Do not go here for care. They do not give a crap about you. A mill. We went here more than once- this is NOT a fluke or one-off. Save yourself . read more

If you have a loved one please take them to any other hospital. the nurses were worked up they shared with us from a patient early that morning, my husband was brought in by ambulance to the Er, at 6:29 am . The staff judge him and violated hippa by disclosing his medical issues and in front desk staff was so rude to me and my daughter. I have pictures of the staff laughing and waving at us leaving the emergency room. My daughter has videos of nurses screaming at her dad. Let me start off by saying the nursing staff at Riddle Hospital is terrific. That's the good now here's the bad. Doctor Dallara a Surgeon on the Fourth Floor Suite 3401 who performed surgery on me was absolutely one of the worst doctors I've ever dealt with. The surgery went fine so far but the follow up appointments were a joke with him. He'll give you if you're lucky three minutes of his time before he literally runs out of the room. The last follow up I had with him. He gave me two minutes really I'm not kidding. Even when they were wheeling me in to start the surgery, he came in, said a couple words to me and walked out of the room without me having a chance to ask him any questions. He has no personality and no bedside manner. I realize he's very busy and a surgeon, and doesn't have time for chitchat I get that. He is just terrible doctor to deal with. I feel bad giving the hospital one star because the nursing staff as I stated earlier was great. read more

I would give this emergency room a zero if it was possible. As a former emergency room nurse with over 25 years ER experience, I understand the concept of "triage," which is how an emergency nurse triage nurse makes a decision, based on prioritizing the patient's complaint by severity. My daughter drove me to this ER, after I had been having severe abdominal pain and vomiting, consistent with kidney stones. I did tell the registrar and triage nurse that I had a history of frequent kidney stones, along with a significant Crohn's diagnosis. Kidney stones are usually not life threatening; however, they are very painful. A triage nurse did see me within 10 minutes, and brought me back to a procedure room so that another ER nurse could start an IV, draw blood, and obtain a urine specimen. I was eventually escorted to a room within the emergency room. The pain and vomiting were awful. I noticed a commode in the room, and decided to use it. The commode was dirty-filled with urine and feces from a previous patient. I then walked out of the room and found a rest room. Someone had urinated on the floor-I almost slipped and fell. I left that restroom and found another bathroom, which was clean. I then returned to my room. A couple of hours went by. The pain was becoming worse, and the vomiting would not stop. I had been pretty quiet up until this point, but then I began to cry. A few minutes later, a nurse popped her head into my room so she could reprimand me for "making too much noise." Another 3-4 hours went by. I walked up to the nurse's station and was reprimanded again: I was scolded and told to "go back to your room. It's very busy and there is only one doctor. After 6 hours, an ER physician came into the room and examined me. She ordered a CT scan, which showed a large kidney stone in the left ureter, and multiple smaller stones. When I returned to my room, an ER nurse gave me morphine IV, which did not help with the pain. She returned about an hour later to give me IV Torradol, which was a miracle drug and totally resolved the pain. After I was discharged, I thought back to when I was an ER nurse who triaged a patient with a probable kidney stone. I clearly remember bringing the patient back to a room immediately, initiating an IV and drawing blood/obtaining a urine specimen. Realizing that my patient was in 10/10 pain, I immediately found an ER doctor, who gave me a verbal order for pain relief. There was no 6-8 hour delay for a patient with a suspected kidney stone to see a doctor. Yes, as a triage nurse, I would immediately bring anyone with difficulty breathing, an infant less than 30 days old, profuse bleeding, suspected MI or stroke, poisoning. But once these patients needing emergent , life-saving treatment were brought back, the next patients ("Urgent") were ALWAYS taken back to see a doctor within 30". Maybe the ER staff at Riddle Hospital need to take a refresher course on how to triage and also to improve customer service. read more

They leave patients sitting in the ER for as long as they possibly can before actually treating them I am currently sitting here at 2:06 am I have been here since 11:30 and my partner has only been triaged and told she was going to get fluids that was after we sat for almost an hour just waiting for her to be triaged. There are people here that have been here waiting for four hours just to be seen that is unacceptable. The care is not up to par the quality of care is low they take too long for an ER especially for just fluids. They left a man sitting in the waiting room complaining about lack of oxygen for the entire two hour plus period I've been here and only came out to check on him to tell him to put a mask on. The triage nurse was very rude and inconsiderate the only friendly encounter we've had so far was the phlebotomist who was beyond nice. Update it is now 3:15 and we are still waiting for just fluids Update 2 it is now after 4 we have been here for over four hours waiting just for my partner to get fluids there is no reason for the level of incompetence and inconsideration in a hospital if you have a serious medical emergency go somewhere else cause here your medical emergency isn't there medical emergency read more

My mom and I were being registered for an x-ray . The woman behind the glass had a problem with me from the start of the registration!! She blatantly as she walked from their seats and walked all the way around to us on the other side of the glass! While she was walking around to do whatever! She said and I quote her words darn bitch can't even get a darn chair out! She was so ignorant I really hope that she is put on suspension .When she did come around to do nothing she pulled a chair out and shoved my mother who has a fractured hip , into the wall ! Pre Admission Testing has the worst nurse in the whole world. Her name is Laura Allaire, NP. If you see her, run the other way. She will belittle your disabilities, she will talk negatively about you with another staff WHILE YOU'RE IN THE ROOM! No bedside manner. No compassion. Clearly just wants to get through her day. No.listening skills. A true lack.of any type of caring. Needs to find a profession dealing with things, not people. Quality of care was subpar. I encountered a high level of incompetence in staff. I had a heart catherization done here and the nurse in charge of my care started to remove pressure too soon. Immediately stated bleeding, doctor recommended an anti anxiety medication during my stay and I only received one dose. Often had to double check that I was being given correct medication. Night nurse checked on me only one time throughout his shift. Was unable to reach a doctor for questions following discharge. No one cared to follow up with me. The list goes on and on. Very inconvenient for those trying to visit patients in the hospital. The walk from the parking lot/garage to sign in at the main entrance is bad enough, but then you have to walk the whole length back, then the width of the building, just to get to the elevators. Then, there are no public restrooms on some of the floors. Terrible design for a facility!! read more

Riddle is a great hospital... I've been here too many times to count... Had all three of my girls here, and have stopped in the ER with the family many times for various ailments - infected bee stings, stiches, broken noses, etc. We also visit several doctors here. A few weeks ago, had to bring my daughter in to be checked for a concussion... It took maybe two hours which really wasn't that bad... Overall, Riddle is a nicely run hospital, and it's right down the street so it's really convenient as well. read more

Great Community Hospital in business for decades that recently partnered with Rothman whereby Rothman's surgical services are performed in the hospital. My man's quad repair was done here January 19,2016 and I must say the after care- particularly in recovery were kind, caring and compassionate.The Doctors and nurses here are wonderfully caring people. We have had many post op checkins for PT in the Rothman section. The parking garage is well laid out; particularly for the temporarily disabled. Another great option is their quick Emergency Room. Often over the years I had to visit the ER with my daughter with various day to day kid injuries including soccer sprains. It has always been quick and caring. Additionally they provide many free health classes to the community. A true gem in the local community ! read more
