Just had a serious surgery here everything with the surgery went well. The nurses in intake were absolutely the sweetest and most caring group you could ask for. Once out of surgery and in my own room I was pretty happy with the size and view all of the nurses upstairs on the second floor were super nice and caring. The surgery I had was in a very personal area on my body and they absolutely did a fantastic job of keeping my dignity intact. Thanks Loren and Julie for keeping my pain at a manageable level I greatly appreciate your efforts. Food was good and the portions were huge. I struggled to finish them. The cafeteria was amazing about making my meals the way I wanted them and getting the order correct. Another great experience at Taylor Hospital ER! If you have to be in ER of course. :) My nephew was in a car accident, and the care they gave him was wonderful. The doctor and nurses were very knowledgeable and attentive and tested him thoroughly. Everyone was kind and made us comfortable in a very stressful situation. What really stood out to me about this visit was the help we got from the ER Navigator. She got him a follow up appointment, which I couldn't manage, and answered questions about insurance, etc. I've been to Taylor's ER countless times over the years, and I've always been happy with the care they've given me and my family. read more

Terrible staff, brought my gf in here because she was having trouble to breathe the staff took too long to tend to her, The lady at the front was actually the fastest and nicest person there taking down my information. The other nurse was getting smart to my gf and asking her question while she can't even breathe like what???? Visited the ER due to being bitten by a stray cat. As I have no primary care physician, the ER staff led me to believe that I could come there to finish up the battery of injections (Tetanus, Rabies, antibiotics). I was under the impression that they were offering to 'stand in' as a temporary PCP until the process was completed. Nope. I was expected to cough up an extra $100 per visit to finish up. ($300+) I let them know that should some sort of infection set in, or if I have to endure a re-start of this really painful process, Taylor Hospital would be facing legal action. They didn't seem too bothered. read more

The first time I was brought in by the ambulance and received very prompt and good service by the nurses and hospital staff on duty. The doctors in the ER were very thorough in handling my medical problems. I can't say enough for the professionalism displayed by all the workers that I met while staying at Taylor Hospital. I spent well over a month here, about 8 years ago, to recover from a serious auto accident. Very professional, yet they will show you a lot of compassion! After a day or so of getting acclimated, therapy began. Tough and unrelenting but fair. They actually seem to care a lot about your well-being; unlike many who come in to just do their job. During a brief "Why me?" period, just feeling sorry for myself, they really surprised me! First, a nurse, then a doctor and finally, a counselor came to see me. What they all pretty much told me was: "We DO understand what you're going through, but you also need to understand this-'We are a rehab hospital. If you don't get your head out of your ass, there are a LOT of people waiting to get in this hospital, and they could use our help.' " While at first I was perturbed, I did as they had asked; and eventually I did get better. It was only a considerable time later, that I realized that this was the best and most honest way to deal with me or anyone else going through that. I will be eternally grateful to these people for the "tough love", and the sheer quality of care. read more

When the pain hit, I curled up into a fetal ball and wished for a quick death. I had been told that a stomach flu was going around and hoped that the icepicks being jabbed into my lower intestines were only temporary. I endured it for 1 long, delusion filled night, and when it hurt equally as bad the next day I knew it was time. I hate Hospitals. Its hard to avoid them, between your own problems, and the ailments of others, but I did my best. I liken them to airports, where you are also often faced with saying goodbye to loved ones, and welcoming new arrivals. Not to mention the needles. Oh yes, there are needles. Theres nothing I hate more, than watching them take blood, that my body worked hard to create. I need that stuff. You cant have it! So you can imagine the pain I was in, that caused me to willingly go into a place I despise. I must say, in Taylors defense, that it was one of the best, quickest and most efficient emergency room visits I have ever experienced. I once broke my arm, and I waited over 2 hrs in the waiting room, in pain, before being seen. Maybe I just looked ready to keel over this time, because the whole triage process lasted about 5 min, before I was seen by a doctor in a room. I was immediately given an IV (my first!) and scheduled for a CAT Scan, to figure out what was wrong. They asked for a urine sample, but surprisingly, the Dribbler couldnt perform. I just cant go on cue! Although, you'd be surprised how quickly I was able to perform when the term " Cathater" was thrown around. I was prepared to wring it out like a wet towel. The CT Scan, revealed an infection in my bowels known as Diverticulitis. Its basically a pocket in the colon, which can collect any undigestables ( corn, nuts, seeds, etc) where they can cause infection. Nothing fatal, but could be a concern. I had to stay in the hospital for a few days, hooked up to an IV, which fed me and gave me antibiotics and i was on a liquid diet. It was not a fun time, but I feel that the staff was very good, nurses were efficient and nice, doctors were informative and helpful. I was taken care of well. As well as i was treated, when they said i could go, I got out as quick as possible, before they changed their minds, and before I got completely used to walking around in public, in my underwear. The end result is, I lost 20lbs, my diet is much better (although having to give up corn, in all its glorious forms is rough) and I have a finer appreciation for my health. Look for some updates, when I go back for a followup, and then get a dreaded colonoscopy! *cue Darth Vader music. Also a post script, to explain the loss of one star, which had been a 5 star experience. A few days after my hospital stay, the arm that held the IV for 5 days, became sore. I thought this was normal, but the soreness turned to pain, and was eventually revealed to be a bad infection of my arm, from wrist to elbow. The pain was almost as bad as the initial pain, that brought me into the hospital. It was unfortunate, but I cant really blame the staff at Taylor. This could have happened anywhere to anyone. Ill just take 1 star off, because the experience wasnt perfect. Good health to everyone! read more

In addition to this updated review, I will also be contacting the Better Business Bureau and Office of Inspector General to file a complaint if I do not hear back from them in a timely manner. So, shortly after I left my initial review, I receive a call from the ER Director (I will leave his name out of this for now). He apologized for the inconvenience and proceeded to tell me that I could disregard the invoice that I received and that he would "take care" of the bill and that there would be no balance... Well, here we are, fast forward, and I am still receiving a bill for the charges that should have been dropped. I called their billing facility only to be told the same thing and that there was no record of the hospital facility/ physician dropping the charges. I was given a number to the main ER Dept to call if I needed to speak with him. I called and when I finally get a rep on the phone, was "transferred" to him in which I am just placed on hold and waiting. I finally got pushed through to his secretary's voicemail and am awaiting a call back. (Will also leave her name out of this for the time b If you value your own time, hold off and go further out to another hospital. If you want to be given the round about, endless calls and headaches, and be charged for hundreds of dollars even when you have Medical insurance, then Taylor Hospital is for you!! So today I called the Billing Company and they did confirm that the balance was written off by the Hospital and my balance is finally $0. I will still leave my review at 1 star because this has wasted countless hours of my time and energy to resolve an issue that should have never been in the first place. I appreciate that the ER Director kept his word and made sure I would not be responsible for the payment. However, due to this experience, I will not return to Taylor Hospital in the future. read more

Do yourself a favor and travel a little further to Philly for better treatment. The intake woman was rude, spelled my name wrong (despite looking at my license), and questioned my fiancé about my symptoms after I just finished telling her what was going on. She also violated HIPAA by telling him about the other doctors who treat me and asking HIM if he can be listed as my emergency contact. She had no idea what our relationship was like and frankly, it's up to me to select an emergency contact, not him. My wait was brief since I was the only person in the waiting room. The nurse who cared for me was nice but both doctors acted like they didn't believe me about my symptoms and we're not interested in effectively treating my pain. In fact, I left the ER with the same amount of pain I arrived with and given no prescriptions to fill to control pain or nausea. If I am ever in need of emergent care again, I will not be returning here. read more

I needed to get an x ray. Have a script from my doctor. Went to taylor as it's the closest place to get one, (outside of Fitz...but Fitz is horrible). I was told by the radiology dept to just walk in. I am handicapped and elderly, and must use an "old fart cart" or 2 special canes I have. First, getting into radiology was a nightmare...once there, they only had 1 person in the department, and she was not the happiest to meet. Finally registered.. I went to the men's waiting room and sat for a good half an hour when a 2nd guy came in and sat down. We both waited about 30 minutes. Then "Ms. Happy" came in to tell us it would be at least a 1 to 3 hour wait.... ( I saw no reason for that as they were nowhere near busy)... I just believe she didn't want to do anything. So, I asked for my script back and left. I realize this covid crap is really messing things up, but I would have thought Taylor would still be as professional as it USED to be. They just quit caring about people, seems we're too much of a problem to even give a simple x ray. Shame on you Taylor. read more

This will be my first and last time ever going to Taylor hospital. Every staff there made me feel very uncomfortable. They each had an "idgaf" attitude towards myself and other patients within listening distance. Nobody had decent beside manor. No one moved with a sense of urgency. Immediately entering the emergency room I felt like leaving. I felt like nobody in there was sincere or even a decent human being. Worse hospital I've been ever been to. I have needed many medical and surgical procedures in my 40+ years in this area. I have been to Crozer, Riddle, and Taylor. I choose Taylor if I have a choice. The doctors are the same as at Crozer but they seem more relaxed and I feel I get better care. The nurses and the other professional staff makes the most difference for me. They are all outstanding. Taylor has all single rooms, I enjoy the privacy. The nursing staff are always friendly and caring. I feel like they really care about me, not just another patient. I had kidney cancer and had my kidney removed at Taylor, had emergency gallbladder surgery at Taylor. I swear by Taylor. The ER is rarely over crowded, and yes, everybody has a bad day now and then but I have never had a bad experience at Taylor Hospital, my hospital of choice. read more

At one time, Taylor Hospital had a good reputation. Not anymore. My mother was admitted for a hairline fracture of the hip. Nursing staff, with the exception of 2 excellent nurses, were terrible. The doctors? Once on the floor, I never saw or heard from ANY doctor. The SW was of great help. My mother was constipated from all the meds etc. We repeatedly asked for them to help her, nothing was done about it. We felt she had a possible UTI and asked that she be tested for same, they ignored us. Turned out she did have a UTI, which the skilled nursing facility checked for us. My mom is 89 and their inattention spoke volumes. If you love an elderly parent, sibling, any elderly family member, whatever you do, do not send them to Taylor read more

Horrible day. They didn't give me my uterine biopsy. Just the liver biopsy. They said that I would be asleep for it, in twilight but I was wide awake for the entire thing and I screamed and cried the whole time because the pain was so excruciatingly painful. Now. They just blew four more veins trying to get an IV in me. And are now having to take me off the fast acting IV Dilaudid. All because they couldn't be fucking bothered to give me a bag or two a day of IV fluids to keep my veins spongy. Now I have 9 blown veins and no pain medicine to show for it. When I first came to this hospital thought it was the greatest but now I'm rapidly realizing that I was fool. a) The nurses act like the pain medication is their own private stock. The doctor writes an order for you to receive it if asked for. for every two hours. Every single nurse makes you wait at least an hour for it. (Tonight even after having the non-sedated biopsy, I have been made to wait 2 hours for her to even bring the fucking meds in and now I have to wait for her to call Dr McGill & wait for him to call the eff back and take a lesser dosage in a pill form. (they managed to get an IV in thank God) b) They are ultra chintzy with the food. They begrudgingly give you one pack of crackers and get mad if you call dietary behind their back for a tray of actual food. c) They are lazy. They don't change bed sheets, They don't clean up after themselves. They always send someone else to do it instead. Skanks. I literally had to ask for my sheets to be changed and for towels to wash with. d) Their visiting hours suck. My husband had to leave by 9 pm each each night despite the fact that he couldn't be here all week. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Addendum: (If you are admitted ask for ANYONE but Dr McGill. Doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground.) Update on Taylor Hospital: Like most hospitals Taylor is fairly decent. They "know" how to get things done. The problem lies is that a good 75% of the people that work here do not give one care about the patient at all. They are my worried about their numbers and getting people in and out of the hospital, more worried about getting in and out of your room. No one wants to listen, no one cares. And when you are here by yourself 80% of the time and have no advocate it gets worse. They are icy and cold, and have typical Philadelphian mentalities. (I of course know that mentality cause I have one myself and have raised people, and lived with people who have them) And frankly it sucks. A little bit of empathy can go a long way. When someone is in a great deal of pain instead of being condescending, they being health care professionals should be more caring and helpful instead, they treat you like you are just there for the drugs. Well how's this for an answer. I am here for the fucking drugs. Not because I'm some lowlife junkie but because I am in so much pain from my disease I cannot get pain relief of this type at home. And to treat me like I'm wrong for wanting relief should make you reevaluate your chosen career. I for one would never make someone feel worse because they feel bad and need help. They don't like that I write down their names and the times I asked for the medications and the times I actually receive them. They don't like that I question what's going on in my care when in fact the booklet the give you when you arrive tells you to do so. And get this. I was actually told by a nurse that I shouldn't come to this hospital, that I should go downtown to a Philly hospital because they aren't used to patients like me. What kind of patient you ask? One who's under 70 for one. One who takes an active interest in her care, and one who keeps an eye on those taking care of them and don't just let herself get blindly led around doing whatever the fuck they say. I question things. I ask for alternatives, I ask for second opinions. I'm not a blind sheep. And this pisses them off. I can honestly say, there were 5 people out of over 45-50 people that worked with me during both of my stays here in this hospital that genuinely seemed to care, and even commiserated with me about how bad the care is here. The CARE, not the medical expertise but the actual level of genuine caring of how someone feels. Getting to the bottom of exactly what is causing the pain and what actual level it is. Being in this hospital has made me very tired. And very jaded. And has made me realize that as soon as our lease in our new apartment is up in one year, we are moving back to the west coast. Away from all the non-caring east coast assholes that only care about their paycheck and not the patient who could be dying. This place is horrible! The worse hospital to go to for an emergency! I was puking my brain out non-stop one night, so I head to this crappy hospital! I sat in their waiting for three hours until I was finally seen by their doctor! The doctor came in check me out did the usual like listen to my heart and came up with a diagnoses, turns out to be vertigo! And all this took only five damn minutes for her to tell me! I never had vertigo, so I didn't know what to look out for, symptom wise! I thought I had food poisoning or something! Ok great! I know what I had now! But the damn thing took me sitting in the damn waiting room for 3 hours, while puking my brain out, only for her to take 5 minute to tell me what was wrong with me and prescribe my meds. Then a few weeks later a damn bill drop in the mail that was for the amount is $600.00, which was what was left I had to pay! I was thinking to myself, " really! Are they f-ing crazy! I need to pay this crazy amount of cash for the type of care I got at this crappy ass facility!" This place is crap! Then there was the incident with my brother! He was bleeding like crazy in their emergency room! Again 3 hours waiting to be seen! Why the hell do they have an emergency area in this hospital when they don't treat the people there with any urgency?! I almost feel that this hospital is like the hospitals in Philadelphia! I am originally from Philly and now I reside here near this crappy facility. Wait I think I had better care there in Philly then here! One would think that the taxes that are being paid here near this damn hospital the care would be great; or one would think that since he or she is residing in a suburb area the care would be great from a hospital such as Taylor, but nope, not here at Taylor Hospital! So now my family would drive a couple miles; really no matter distance to receive care from other hospitals, whether it be in Philly or other parts of Delaware County. Hell I don't even take my kids here! I take them down to DuPont Hospital in the state of Delaware, just because I am afraid that my kids my come back home worse then going in to this damn unwell establish hospital! read more

I brought my husband in bleeding and they released him. The attitude of nurses, administration and doctor was indifferent and attention nil. Unfortunately, late that same evening husband started bleeding badly, called 911 and they took him back here! Nurses bullshitting by desk. None helping. Doctor tells me to hold my thumb on husband's artery. This stops bleeding. He said he had to go make his rounds! Do I get paid doing their job?! This is the worst hospital. read more

They didn't give my father any food after his Tests when he had to fast all night he was done his test by 1 o'clock and they didn't bring him a tray of food until after 5 o'clock. The nurses and assistants could care less about there patients they barley spent any time in his room every time he asked for anything it was at least a 2 hour wait. This Hospital is awful! Went to ER because of pain in middle of my Chest that radiated to my back. Had it for weeks, but I just thought it was reaction to my new Insulin. They did all kinds of Chest xrays, the dye, etc., didn't see anything wrong, so since tests didn't show anything, they did not believe me, & it was all down hill from there! Admitted me, took me to my room at 2 AM. Night nurses were great, but the day nurse, had just graduated a year before, was SO rude, treated me like it was a BOTHER to throw my BP, & my other meds, in a white pill cup, & I believe your suppose to WATCH the patient take meds??? She couldn't get out of room fast enough! Didn't see her again, until a family member, had questions about leaving me in pain, & my Bloody IV that they kept in my arm, "in case,". Right Katherine?! Then, she came in & said, "Your going home", 10 min AFTER family member left, when I asked her why, they hadn't figured out what wrong?", she said, "well you said you would rather be home in pain then here!?", so, I got dressed, went to Nurses Station to ask for Nursing Supervisor, only to practically be pushed in an Elevator by another "Supervisor", & that # they give you to report anything to, called it 3 x's, NEVER got back to me!!! (C. Johnston). Wasn't even taken down to Exit in a wheelchair, just pushed in elevator very upset! I even filed a report w/HIPPA! I'm 64 & I do not lie about pain, they look at everyone as if their a drug addict, & all the blood & urine would of showed that I wasn't! Even said Oxygen was low, yet gave me none??? Will never go back there! That wanna be Nurse, needs to go back to school, has no Empathy OR Respect for patients & they are 2 VERY important traits of being a nurse! BTW...I had, have, a Fractured bone in my back! How did all those tests miss that?! Thank God for my real Dr.! read more

ACUTE REHABILITATION HOSPITAL should be a separate category as there is a world of difference between the general Hospital and the Acute Rehab which now covers two floors of the Hospital building. Go to a teaching hospital in Philadelphia for medical and surgical care. But I cannot say enough good things about the Acute Rehab. Clean, well staffed 24/7 and holidays by excellent nurses, attentive MDs, and PT and OTs. My 96 year old father received meaningful rehab over 10 days after a fall allowing him to leave without going into a nursing home. They did not just go through the motions or ignore him. His medical needs were identified and met. Respectful, kind and professional. This fall could really have been the end for him and we as a family have the Acute Rehab staff to thank for turning it all around. read more

Go to a different hospital. This place takes forever. You could be bleeding and sitting in the waiting room for almost an hour before they even bring you back. After they do bring you back it takes an hour for someone to talk to you, they leave, don't come back for another hour and so on. Travel somewhere else! read more

I wouldn't recommend this hospital to anyone. My father spent 8 (today is his 9th) days in there coughing/vomiting blood. They did numbers of test. He was in the ICU also. All his test kept coming up normal. Yesterday I was up there in his regular room when he started coughing up blood again. I went to the nurse station where they all were doing nothing and it took them almost TWO HOURS to finally say, hey look we will give you another CAT scan and ANOTHER bronc test. Well since he had been going on two and a half hours of coughing up blood he had passed out. I will say they moved very fast when he had fainted. They then took him back to the ICU where they did the Bronc test (second or third time) and found a hole in this lung. He has paid $9 for TV and phone (stupid) while they are jerking around and weren't finding answers. Please go to temple or somewhere else if you have a serious problem. When I lived here I never had anything done right with this hospital. read more

I don't recommend this hospital for a Sleep Study. Better to go to Riddle or Lankenau. It's worth the extra travel. And I had a Sleep Study done at Lankenau years ago. Came in with My son as we where removed from the American Airline flight to Manchester last night due to harry having an ear ache and them not allowing him to fly. Been to the Hospital here, was seen by the nurse in 10 mins moved to the bay and seen by another nurse and doctor with 20 min. Letter to say he can fly and prescription 10 mins later and no charge. Could not have been nicer. read more

I would give this hospital 1 1/2 stars. I was lucky the night I went there no one else was waiting so I got right in. I was in the worse pain I had ever experienced in my life. Normally I avoid hospitals but I wanted to make sure something serious wasn't going on. I was given a shot of morphine to help my muscles relax because they were spasming. I was given a CAT scan and found out I had a ovarian cyst rupture. It wasn't anything emergent so the MD discharged me and I was told to follow up with my OBGYN. The doctor gave me a Rx for vicodin and motrin. I asked for something to help with the pain since it was 5:00a on a Sunday morning and I was leaving with the same pain I came in with. She said she couldn't give me anything because they didn't do outpatient treatment. I would avoid this hospital just given this alone. I did follow up with my doctor two days later. She asked why didn't they call in a Gyn specialist. My thought is because they didn't have one. They weren't absolutely horrible, but they weren't good either. I doubt I would go back to this hospital if I had the choice to go somewhere else. read more

It is hard to believe that this Hospital has not been shut down. I had both my hips replaced there. One in January and one in February. Surgery and ER staff were excellent. But, OMG once I was admitted the level of care was horrible. After my January surgery I filed a complaint over the isssues I encountered with the nursing staff. The day of my second surgery the nursing manager came to my room and asvised me that she had rec'd my complaint and assured me that this was not ypical and that she was going to investigate and assured me that everything would be great the second time. She could not have been more incorrect. I suffered a blood clot because of the actions of the nursing staff (removed pressure cuffs because they kept alarming). I had to spend two additional days in the hospital, had to be placed on medication for three months and still have shortness of breathe. Icontacted an attorney but because of tort reform, I could not actual sue the hospital. I filed a complaint with the Joint Commission and shortly thereafter recieved a letter from the President of the Hospital apolgizing for the issue I encountered. It seems that everyone I speak to has the same type of story or similar experience at Taylor. Last week I read that a woman was awarded 6 million dollars because they performed surgery on her, based on an MRI of another patient. It is incredible that this place hasn't been boarded up. Hopefully, the new owners will either fix the problem or close the doors. read more
