We were visiting from Washington DC, and craving Mexican food so found this place. We had a great experience. Since we are in the COVID era, wanted to order take-out. We parked, and magically a lady came to our window to take our order so we didn't even have to call. It was great! We ordered a burrito, 2 American tacos and 2 Mexican tacos, corn in a cup, chips and salsa, and guacamole. It was a great price too, all this was about $31. The service wasn't bad. What made this into a 1 star is me asking for tamales and being told it'll be about 15 min. So I head to my car and I see the cook walk out with 4 bags of frozen tamales. Who knows how long they've sat there so I requested my money back after seeing this. Unfortunately, I was warned by a friend that they serve old meat from the cooler in the parking lot (red barn doors) and didn't really believe it. This is the last time I ever set foot in here. When I was in Elkhart IN last week I ordered here a few times. The final time I ordered to go. They forgot to add the most important ingredient to my nachos...the cheese. ***see the attached picture *** That's not the bad part. The bad part is I called to tell them and they hung up on me 3x. I'm not going to lie, the food isn't bad here. I've actually gone here a number of times when traveling to Elkhart, IN bc it was so reminiscent of the days back when I lived in LA and could could walk outside and get authentic Mexican food. BUT I must say the customer service is so bad I would give them negative stars if it were possible. They were extremely rude. They treated me like I was the one who made the mistake. Unfortunately for them I'll never return. Not bc they messed up my order but more so how they handled it. The way I was treated was foul. Great authentic Mexican food! The service was quick and all staff was nice as well. We went around 1:30 pm in the afternoon so there wasn't a lunch rush. Humble little restaurant cranking out 10 years worth of authentic Mexican street food. We ordered a pulled chicken tortas, a shredded pork tostado, a braised tongue taco, and a crispy tripe taco. Way better than just OK; they were great! The tongue was so tender I was left speechless. Great service, great food, all at great prices adds up to another 10 years of awesome food. Don't underestimate this place. So many Mexican restaurants claim to be "authentic" and the restaurant is really American Tex Mex. Ricky's is the real deal. Small little Restaurant with great service! Came here on a weekday during lunch hours, and it was pretty busy! We sat at the counter and watched our tacos get made. I've been meaning to add Ricky's to my Mexican favorites list and I'm glad I finally got the chance! So this Taqueria is located in more of a residential area and is what I would consider a dive. But with most dives, come some of the best food! Ricky's is small, there is only room for so many people to dine-in, I'd guess maybe 10 to 12 people. But they have a carry-out option which is what I did. I went inside and ordered at the counter in front of the grill and my order was ready in about five minutes. I have a chicken burrito and it was humongous! It was two meals, and literally became my lunch and dinner. For under seven dollars! You definitely want to go they are hungry. To get five stars is to say this food is so great that I would go out of my way for it. And I do. Its delicious and always fresh and the prices are great. There's not a lot of indoor seating but most get it to go. There's also homemade desserts that have all been great as well. This is my favorite Mexican restaurant.
