So this is one of the rare times I write the review after dining at the restaurant. I was at this restaurant so time ago and new owners had just taken over and they had no liquor license. Today wasn't the case as a full bar was in operation. The restaurant is cozy with nice colour with a friendly staff. No liquor today as I have to drive. I started the meal with a tossed salad. This starter salad was probably the best I've ever had. Very colorful and with real green lettuce and multicoloured tomatoes etc. with a good house dressing. I ordered the short ribs. Without getting into too much negativity, the meal lacked texture. It was like eating porridge. Will not order short ribs again. I've had breakfast at other Ricky's before and they're excellent. This was the first supper and was a non repeatable event. I ended the meal with ice cold pumpkin pie which was average. I will return but not for the short ribs or pumpkin pie. Cheers! read more

This specific Ricky's is the wordy Ricky's I have ever encountered. EVERYTIME I order from here, for delivery, it takes an hour or more for them to have the food ready for pickup. WHY? It's always an hour to an hour and a half! I'm talking bacon and eggs breakfast! I have even tried calling to speak to someone and no one ever answers the phone. This has not happened just once or twice - this is a dozen or more times - every time I've ordered in the last 2 years! Wow! The worst management ever! read more

I genuinely really like Ricky's so whenever I'm working away from home if I have an opportunity, I will go to a Ricky's. At this location I wish I could've told you about how amazing the service was and how amazing the food to relieve reviews when I'm done. The aesthetics of the place is the only reason why I'm giving it to because it looks very nice and clean inside. It is nice and quiet. Unfortunately, it was so quiet that I spent over five minutes in the lobby, hoping somebody would come out as the sign says please wait to be seated. Unlike any other been to no one showed up. It wouldn't be fair if I didn't put my review in its context, but I believe the one star stands in spite of events that led to this "experience." Several friends and I travelled to Dinosaur Provincial Park for some long weekend camping. We dawdled there all the way from Edmonton, but arrived around the time we'd planned--5 p.m. No sooner had we registered and located our campsite, the sky opened up and spewed buckets of rain on us. My husband tried to start a fire, thinking the rain might blow over quickly, and I attempted to set up our tent. No luck. The tiny fire smouldered and was extinguished, and our tent lay in a heap on the ground, with water pooling in the wrinkles of the rain fly. We spent about an hour in the car--well, they did. I stomped around in the rain and hail, cursing everything and getting sopping wet. My companions made the decision to drive into Brooks for dinner, which was wise. So we weren't exactly in high spirits when we pulled into Brooks and stopped at the first place we spotted--Ricky's. The restaurant was almost entirely empty. Having dined at other Ricky's locations, we knew what to expect food-wise, and didn't have unreasonable expectations in that regard. My friends ordered several pints of Trad, a beer evidently unknown to our server despite the helpful Big Rock signs posted in the lounge area. I ordered coffee. After a five minute-long absence, our server returned to tell us they were out of Trad, and that he was making me a fresh pot of coffee. Ten minutes later, beer was obtained, and fifteen minutes later, I finally had a cup of coffee. Our hunger grew exponentially over the next thirty minutes--mind you, there were maybe five occupied tables in the entire restaurant, and no reason for our meal to have taken that long. My husband sneaked out for a smoke, and mentioned he'd spied a window full of food (ours, presumably) back in the kitchen. It still hadn't been delivered when he returned, and it was another five minutes before our tepid meals arrived. Two of our four dishes had visible this-sat-in-the-window-too-long scum on the surface, and my onion rings were barely even warm. We were so ravenous that we continued despite our displeasure, but I let the server know our food was cold. This is where the service went utterly, terribly went wrong. "It was cold?" "Not ice cold, but not as hot as it should have been. We are very hungry and are eating it, anyway. We just wanted you to know." No apology, no excuse, no further comment. He just walked away. It was almost unbelievable, and definitely unacceptable. We grumbled and poked at the rest of the food we hadn't wanted to eat since the first bite. As my husband paid our bill, I spoke to the manager, who offered up an apology on the kitchen's behalf. I told him we believed it was the server's fault, but he just smiled and apologized again. A very long story short, if you're rained out while camping and in a bad mood, stay away from this Ricky's! read more

Lots of selection and good food leads to the best breakfast in Brooks! Well first off, you're in Brooks so you don't have a lot of choice. Now you're driving out of Brooks and then you see the Ricky's all lit up with its open sign and you know you're in luck. I grabbed a "Quick Commute" as I wasn't too hungry. This small breakfast included one egg, some hash-browns, 2 strips of bacon, and some toast. Everything came just as I expected it to. We received great service while at the Ricky's and our waitress was very nice. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in Brooks. read more

We stopped in for breakfast on the way back from camping as it was too windy to light a fire at our site. The restaurant was pretty empty, which made us a bit nervous. Those feelings were put to rest with prompt, courteous service and tasty brunch. Our waitress was quick to take our order and fill or coffee mugs. I got the chicken and waffles and my fiance ordered the lumber jack style breakfast (this, after saying he wasn't hungry). It took less than five minutes from order to table. The chicken was crisp and tender, while the waffles were toasted and fluffy. The fiance's sausages were the only part of the meal that didn't really satisfy. This stop took a total of 30 minutes, which makes Ricky's a no brainer choice for brunch on the road. read more

I ve been to Ricky's in Calgary and Edmonton, this wss the best so far. Great and Quick service. I ordered Philly Beef with garlic fries. It was amazing. The server was very jolly and quick. The attached lounge was superb. They ve got a pool table. They could add one more pool table so that you have to wait until someone else finishes. But overall it qas a great experience. One star is too generous but zero and negative stars aren't an option. My husband and I are truck drivers and have been through Brooks before. We knew better than to expect anything exceptional. That being said Ricky's still shocked us. My husband ordered a Korean BBQ sandwich. I know what you're thinking, Korean in a teeny town like Brooks, we were asking for it. It SHOULD have been thinly sliced beef marinated and then grilled. Who knows grilled beef better than Alberta right? Sadly though, the chef forgot to grill it. That's right, raw beef. A whole sandwich full of it. We called our waitress over and pointed out the error. She said that she's check and carried the offending plate away. A few minutes later she came back with the same plate, plopped it down in front of my husband (an ex chef) and told him that that was the way that Korean beef was prepared. He told her no, that he wasn't going to eat raw beef and asked to speak to the manager. She left again and came back saying that she could take a few dollars off of our bill. We told her that was unacceptable and asked again to see the manager. He eventually came to our table and after few half hearted apologies, he voided my husband's sandwich. I'm a fan of Ricky's but this was a very unpleasant experience. The waitress was friendly but the food was terrible. Eggs benny with very over cooked eggs and put waffles under them when I asked for muffins. Hasbrowns were extra crispy. The water tasted like slough water which I know isn't there fault but have to hear about. Maybe it was just a one off but I was very unsatisfied. read more

However , the service was excellent we were seated promptly, the waitress was very friendly, and our food came out super fast. Also the quality of the food was very good and I feel like we got out moneys worth. If I stop in Brooks again, I would come here for breakfast. read more

This location has been newly renovated and looks 100% better than it was. Had lunch there and food was good. Our waitress, Jess, made an error with our order but it was quickly rectified and she was great. She was very pleasant and so were the people who seated us and cleared our table.
