However, you can hear people in the kitchen/dining room as if they were in bed with you so dont expect to get any sleep after a long days hike. The kitchen doesnt open until 8am, which is a bit on the late side for getting an early start hiking. In addition, the most you get here is bread and cereal. I have been to many B&B's with continental breakfast and they at least offer a hot vat of oatmeal, especially for your hikers who need the heartiness. The kitchen also completely closes at some point. I couldn't even boil water to make my own oatmeal before we headed out. I will say that the bread that was made and coffee were delicious. I just expected a little more especially because I have stayed at other B&B's in the area. The bed was lumpy and sagging....not what you want to rest a sore tired body on. The bedroom was clean and the shower provided great hot water pressure. It is walking distance to the town which is great and a short drive to the main trail heads. Location is good.

Jim and Lynn are hardy year round residents at this…read moreroadless camp, about a 10 minute powerboat ride from the parking lot and landing. we stayed in "Judy's Cabin", long inhabited by Jim's mother, and just renovated. This is not a sterile vacation bungalow environment. You can feel the decades of happy occupancy every day. The panoramic window view of the lake and shoreline, upstairs loft, large library, warm comforters on the beds, and the big stone fireplace and plentiful wood supply make even rainy days a delight. There's electric heat, too, when you don't want a fire. A canoe, leanto, and fire rings are just the start of outdoor amenities. We loved watching sunsets from the deck, or paddling out to watch the loons on the quiet lake as evening fell. Hearing the loons calling to each other is a special treat. Although it was late September, we went swimming off the boathouse dock on many evenings -- very relaxing. The primary hiking route is up St Regis Mountain, which can be reached directly on foot from the cabin, or with less walking from a dock accessible across the lake by canoe. There are several public leantos in the area which are perfect for shorter walks and picnic lunches. If you like dogs, Jim and Lynn's three large, fluffy, white samoyeds are eager to be your hiking companions. Although they normally stay away from the cabin and don't disturb guests, we lured them over shamelessly until they hung around with us. The full array of Adirondack hiking, scenery, and attractions are available by car from the landing. This is not a luxury camp, although many of the private camps on the three interconnected lakes are owned by multi-millionaires. It's a very cozy and rustic environment, perfect for groups of varying sizes (there are additional facilities for rent). The newly remodeled kitchen is very well equipped. Saranac Lake, a 15 minute drive from the landing, has a full array of grocery and shopping options. If paddling and walking aren't sufficient motive power, you can easily trailer in a powerboat. Jim is one of the few remaining Adirondack guideboat builders, and if you're lucky, he'll show you his work and his well equipped shop. He also has a great album showing what the camp was like over the past 100 years. All in all, this is a great place to spend a week or two comfortably communing with nature in the Adirondacks. Very highly recommended! In addition to having a great time, you're also supporting a warm, deserving couple.

It's not too fancy - but after a long hike it's wonderful to have a place with a living room and kitchen to relax and unpack our camelbacks and hiking supplies. Marlene is also a wonderful hostess! When she heard we were completing our 46th peak - she went and got us little patches that had the name of our last mountain on them and she brought us a celebratory slice of apple pie! It was so thoughtful and unexpected!! For the price and the space you get - you can't find a better place! We will definitely be staying again next time we're in the area!

We've never had a hotel text us before so it was very nice knowing how helpful they are with their customers. They truly care about their business. The room was exceptionally clean and the beds were cozy. Though the inn itself is small (with about 10 rooms total), it felt safe and secure. Our room (7) had a fridge and microwave in it, two extra blankets, a fan, space heater, AC, shampoo, conditioner, and there was a little goody bag for us. I love that they have breakfast in bags set out in the fridge for everyone. Our bags had an apple, hard boiled egg, yogurt, granola bar, and apple juice. There is a ton of grass area for dogs IF you get a pets-allowed room. If you come in and don't tell them you have a pet, they will charge you $50 so it's best to be honest. I put four stars instead of 5 because there are some strict rules here. Let's aren't allowed on the beds and they will charge you for dog hair on the sheets. You also have to crate your dog if you leave them in the room (because if your dog is crying and they can't get a hold of you, they will go into your room). Pet owners clearly have made the rules like this for a reason. There are also major quiet rules and they ask that you don't shut your car doors and hotel doors loudly. They also have a wash cloth set out for makeup use only and will charge you $40 if you ruin the other towels. So it felt like walking on eggshells sometimes with all of these rules. However, it is owned by a husband and wife and they want to make sure everything stays nice. Overall, we did enjoy our stay and there's a nice river running through behind the inn. There's also a garden and a large fire pit with plenty of seating. On top of that, there's a game room with a pool table, fooseball table, board games, and more (outside of rooms 7 and 8). This is a very cute inn and as long as you follow the rules, you're all set for a nice vacation in the mountains!

Inside a little dated in some rooms but still clean and upgrades have been made where is counts, bathrooms and beds. Definitely worth it.
