No one informed my husband that his throat would close up on him and he would be choking the first few days after surgery. Most doctors prescribe a steroid to take for that reason alone. Dr Morgan didn't prescribe steroids for him to take nor would he give any to my husband after I frantically called his office after hours. I ended up finding someone who gave me 3 prednisone pills (my mom) to get him through the hump. I couldn't bare to see him choking and not being able to breathe. My husband to this day says those steroid pills saved his life. Morgan's work is good, but clearly he doesn't know what it feels like to not be able to breathe and feel like you are dying. For that reason alone, I would find another doctor. My husbands eyes were bulging and he was gasping for breath when we got home. Do not put your loved one through this! It's unnecessary.

I was having back issues and made an appointment with Dr. Brent Morgan. When you arrive for your…read moreappointment you will be met by a medical assistant who takes your vitals. Then you will be interviewed by his Physician Assistant who asks you medical questions and does a quick exam. Then Dr. Morgan comes in to discuss your medical issue. I had CD's and reports from previous spine surgeries and the corresponding reports. Dr. Morgan advised I should get a Myelogram and CT scan to diagnose my problem. I was diagnosed with a Tethered Spinal Cord which needed to be repaired. I had the surgery and he repaired the Tethered Spinal Cord as well as removing the hardware in my Lumbar 4-5 fusion. The surgery was in June 2017. Three and one-half months have gone by and I am feeling great. Dr. Morgan and his entire staff are professional and very caring. If you need a highly educated and responsible spine surgeon he is the physician you should visit for your health issues.

Dr. Derman changed everything. I am now pain free, I walk and stand taller, for as long as I like. Why did I wait. It starts with his easy, relaxed, caring approach. I did a lot research on choosing a surgeon, Dr. Derman was in the top of every list. Now I know why. He looks you in the eye and carefully explains what's wrong and how he'll fix with such clear confidence I knew I could trust him. My great result confirms that confidence. He has assembled a great team who are equally caring. From start to finish, all were all exceptional. The recovery has relatively been easy, and just as he described. Another testament to his skill. Dr. Derman and his entire care team made it easy for me to feel confident that 'everything is going to be ok.' Three months out it's been more than that, it's been Great!

My only other option was yet another disc fusion. For three months prior to this surgery, I had been in unimaginable pain, taking 3-5 Tramadol daily - and sometimes even more significant pain medicine - none of which provided much relief. When I awoke from surgery, the pain from the herniated disc was GONE. I experienced some minimal pain at the surgery site for a few day, for which I took Tylenol. In the six weeks since surgery, I've not taken a single Tramadol - only occasional Aleve. As I understand, Dr. Derman is one of only 10 surgeons in the country performing this particular surgery. What a relief Dr. Derman and this surgery has meant for me. I'm now released to resume my normal activities - including occasional golf - YEA! I can't thank Dr. Derman and his team enough - and highly recommend him to anyone with chronic back pain. Thanks Dr. Derman

MILLIE IN THE ER IS THE WORST, COLDEST NURSE I'VE EVER MET. I've never in my life met a nurse who…read morewas SO cold and had 0 empathy. Her name is MILLIE and works in the ER. From the second I got there, I was bawling my eyes out with abdominal pain on the right side in so much pain barely could walk. And she was so cold, I walk on a cane so struggled to carry my stuff to the room due to that and pain being so bad walk and 0 help. The pain was so bad I was bawling my eyes out for pretty much an entire 2 hours. NOT ONCE checked on me while sitting near hearing me crying. Only came in there if she had to do something. I even tried to say excuse me several times since the nurse area was right by me...nothing. Shortly after she just walk in the room watching me in so much pain crying, disconnected the Iv and walked out - NOT SAYING A SINGLE WORD OR EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE me. Before that An iv was put in to give me meds and the other nurse who was very nice (Lisa) told her I don't think this IV in will work, that it's hard up top and having issues. But the awful nurse Millie said no it'll work & to use it and they put medicine in and I start screaming that it's burning on fire and to stop the medicine. The entire area turned bright red and was burning on fire for over 40 minutes cause it leaked out of vein or something. And whole area was turning red before she took IV out but yet when I mentioned is this normal? Because it was soooo red and large area -Her response was we just ripped tape off with an attitude. Even though it was a huge area burning on fire and red area wayyyyy bigger then where tape was. I was still so nauseous and hurting and her response was I'll tell the doctor IF I pass by her- no urgency, no let me find the doctor.... as I'm bawling 2 hours straight at one point falling to the ground holding my stomach crying and about more 45 mins went by. Not once empathized whatsoever. I mention to the doctor I wanted the other nurse Lisa who was great to help me when they added toradol and also with the discharge papers. The doctor was great and felt so bad seeing me in that pain when we couldn't figure out what was going on since appendix looked fine. At end the doctor said just sit on the bed and wait for ride cause I was still bawling crying holding my stomach. And not long after the doctor walked away, the nurse Millie came in there and said you need to get out of here... LIKE WHAT?!?? As I'm crying, I mentioned that I'm waiting for my ride which was going to be there in 5 mins. Her response was you need to get out you're not waiting in here, you're discharged. There wasn't a SINGLE patient waiting or there. Totally understand maybe if they were busy, needing the bed but nope. It was a ghost town. #methodistMcKinneyhospital .... MILLIE SHOULD NOT BE A NURSE IF SHE CANT HAVE AN OUNCE OF EMPATHY OR RESPECT. I hope no one has to experience a medical issue with this woman.
