Bottom line: I'm delighted to give Liebert Associates my very highest recommendation without any…read morereservations whatsoever. And, that's coming from a do-it-yourselfer like me who has a life long history of finding it all too easy to utterly despise accountants and account executives. A little less briefly, it gives me great pleasure to most enthusiastically recommend Liebert Associates for tax & accounting services for a variety of sound reasons. I started working with Mr. Liebert five years ago, when I took a new job in Manhattan while maintaining a family in Philadelphia. Both my wife and I also run small consulting businesses, so after 15 happy years of doing-it-myself with TurboTax, we needed help. Complexity increased when both my wife and I lost our parents and inherited a variety of assets in different states. Things went from bad-to-worse-to-seemingly impossible when my wife took possession of family trusts that were bewildering for a person like me to understand. (I'm a nuclear medicine physician.) I've been a full professor in two Ivy League universities. By those standards, Brian Liebert is extremely smart--4 or 5 sigma. So is his partner, Sally Trauco. They have enormous funds of knowledge about taxes. Their ability to manipulate information quickly to create innovative solutions, and get the job done, is even more impressive. They are consistently responsive (wow!) with quick turn around times. And, they've stood by us. Brian has settled several IRS inquiries within a few days with on-target communications that strike remarkable balances between conciseness, decisiveness, and collegiality with the IRS professionals. Perhaps as importantly, Brian and Sally are warm, kind, and easily approachable. Their social IQ's are conspicuously extraordinary, and it shows whenever they need to correct something I've done that's stupid (which is not all that infrequently). They have genuinely mature senses of humor. I've always been amazed at how well Brian seems to remember me and my wife. Sally also has a memory like an elephant, and a charming talent for communicating a lot of happy thoughts in a brief passage (unlike me). It's remarkable that an on-line service can show a personal interest in their clients. After 5 great years, we're confident you're going to greatly enjoy working with them. P. David Mozley, MD

He stated that he had sent out emails to his former clients in December (I have been a client for the past several years and he absolutely has my email address). When I called to schedule the appointment with his office in February his receptionist made no mention that he would not be available and that I would be meeting with someone else. When I arrived at the office, I waited 30+ minutes and inquired as to whether I should reschedule. A lady came out to say that she would just be two more minutes. I thought that she was the client. When they were ready to see me, I was completely taken aback when told that I would be seeing Kim for my taxes. I'm not sure how complicated my taxes are but being in two different states with residencies in both, various jobs (W2, 1099), rental/owned units, it is important for me that my tax person is knowledgeable about my situation. I was completely unprepared to re-explain my situation. Kim asked NO questions and input numbers like a robot stating that she was all set based on last year's preparation. I have had several changes from last year and ended up owing about three times what I paid last year. In response to email inquiries, she stated that there were changes required and was dismissive. Please keep this in mind when scheduling with this company. I will be searching for a new provider next year and a company with higher level of integrity and transparency. For reference, I ended up paying Kim, $800 for my tax preparation and owed about $6000 after about 20 minutes of face to face time.

Started going to this guy back in late seventies when returns became bit more substantial & complex…read morebecause of newly acquired real property. For good 20-25 pretty much uneventful yrs except for couple of "routine examinations" as explained by this master manipulator. And so it went on under his guidance until 2004 when a standard triple decker multi fam was sold. Fully expecting uncle Sam to get his fair share of capitol gains of around $100K and while in the midst of preparing returns for the year he goes "By showing about $45-50K more in expenses we can possibly save about $15K in cap gains. Just a suggestion mind you, it's your call to make" Believing this guy knows what he's talking about and there to protect his clients, my reply was "sure Tony, go ahead" Huh. One fine day shortly thereafter uncle Sam sends a bill nearing $20K including unpaid tax, interest and a hefty penalty. Entrapment; You know it! When confronted him, on top of the obvious perfect excuse he goes " I'm hoping there's trust, we're family now" Should've walked away right then and there despite some friends urging hey idiot, what are you a friggen masochist? If this so-called "professional accountant" had done his job properly protecting you there should never have been an audit. Uncertain for long while and incredibly looking back, stayed on w/this back stabber I suspect mainly due to naiveness and also fact that up to then was not aware that the IRS compensates whistle blowers aka dishonest accountants anywhere from 15-50% depending on severity of intent, etc. Do family members fall into that category though, on the other hand if you can't screw family who you gonna do? Apologies for ramble but read on, it just just gets juicier. Four years went by until mid-August 2009 when a huge fire that started on 1st fl of a different triple decker multi-fam rendered total loss of not only mine but another three fam right next. Insurance paid the claim of course since tenants admitted they had a party w/forgotten candles the night before. Main thing there were no fatalities thank God, all 3 families w/children got out safely due to functional smoke detectors. Year and half later in 2011 ended up selling the burned out left over shell. Here's where it gets real interesting, straw that finally broke the camel's back. Went back to this mo/fo, apologies to any ladies who might be reading this (but it's short for family member anyway) again expecting to pay bet $125-150K in cap gains, this time, he's going for the kill!!! "No need to claim the $500K plus insurance money, let's just report the sale of property" which came to $260K he goes, adding of course the proverbial "it's a chance we're taking you understand, think about it and let me know what to do." Dumbfounded stood there in disbelief. How in the hell this king of slime had managed to stay in business all this time is beyond me, unless of course there are more dummies out there. Umbilical cord finally severed, walked away from this unscrupulous accountant oh and by the way along with him don't have to cough up extravagant $3500-4000 annual fee.

This will be our 3rd year with Ron and his firm handling our joint tax filings…read more Our finance/tax situation is not super complicated but it's complex enough that we can't easily use software or rely on some storefront type walk-in service. We made the switch to a real professional CPA years ago and will never go back. We switched to Ron after our prior CPA shifted our work to his junior minions who dropped the ball in a few key areas. Ron has been fantastic. My wife has mainly owned the properties we've lived in and she's always had non-trivial tax questions related to real estate. On my end I own part of a MA S-corp and the 50% shareholder status means I get a complex IRS K1 form each year. The variable K1 "income" also means I need to be super careful about staying on top of estimated quarterly tax pre-payments for the upcoming year. Ron is the person who makes all this a sane and sensible process. I also travel a lot for work and prefer to work with professionals who can handle communication at a distance -- never an issue swapping signed PDFs with Ron or communicating via email when I'm not in BOS.
