Big thanks to Dr. James Stupfel, PA-C, who was friendly, welcoming, helpful, knowledgeable, assuring, and personable. If I didn't have a PCP, I would absolutely visit him for everything, based on his calm, professional demeanor. Very recommended for anyone who unsure of using a fly-by-night, last minute healthcare provider. People like him give credit to ZoomCare, and the healthcare industry in general, at a time when people have begun to (rightfully) question our broken, predatory system. I'm really surprised by the 1 star reviews for this place. I don't have a primary care physician, and I called yesterday to say 1. I need a primary care physician and 2. Any chance someone can see me today for something urgent? They happily obliged, everyone I interacted with at the office was so nice it almost confused me (I'm definitely more used to rude/uncaring medical office staff) and the nurse and doctor I saw took plenty of time to get lots of information from me and let me ask questions. I'm going to switch primary care over to this office for my son and husband as a result! (Ps. Coffee in the waiting room!)

As such attending most anywhere to see a Doctor has all the appeal of an extended stay with the TSA at the airport. Medicine is more a business than a calling in a lot of places; some front desk people care more about your insurance and co-pay than relaying what is wrong with you to your chart. Most Doctor's seem like they pay more attention to the outlines of their malpractice insurance than in finding a cure for what ails you. Then there are some places that can find that balance between efficient office procedure and patient care. They provide a space for people that is comfortable, sure the same magazines as most places, I think Publishers Clearance must offer a one size fits all subscription package to medical offices. The good ones, they have Wi-Fi available for free, a place for laptops in the waiting room instead of in your lap and a water fountain. Here at Family Wellness we have such a balance. It's a big building, they push a lot of people through here daily, it just doesn't look like it or feel like it. That my friends is the perfect Doctor's office. The nurses listen to you, they don't look like they are thinking two patients ahead of you. The Doctor that I see there, Dr. Young, is confident and takes some time with you. They even run some tests right there in the office, tests I've waited 10 days for in other places. You sick? Go here. You well? Go here to stay that way. They are right next to a 24 Hour Fitness Center, you can find out you're fat and do something about it within 250 feet of the front door. Then again if you shred something working out then help isn't far away. Win/Win.

Those of us that frequent these types of clinics should know this by now. If you want warmth and cozy place where doctors take pride in the quality of their services, you don't go to this kind of clinic. The major problem that I had was with the provider that I saw, Dr. Heather Bergstrom. I scheduled an appointment with her based on a recommendation from a really good doctor. Dr. Heather Bergstrom however, is not the same caliber of physician by far. I came to see her to get a prescription for anxiety medication. She saw me for 15 minutes, and 10 of those minutes she spent talking to me about my weight and trying to sell me a new fad diet and cholesterol medicine. I'm 25 years old, active, and all of my vitals are well within the margins for me to be considered healthy. I'm used to being up sold at the MAC counter, but not by my doctor. I am overweight, and I've never pretended otherwise. But the problem here, is that I let her know that my weight fluctuates with my anxiety, and she didn't even acknowledge that I had said that. She then proceeded to make it very clear that touching me disgusted her during her exam, and shuffled out of the door as fast as she could. The cherry on top was that she did not write my prescription correctly, and I ended up having to pay twice as much as I should have had to as a result. In short, Dr. Heather Bergstrom is an unfeeling, short-sided, inexperienced doctor who really needs to look outside of her own self, and learn to listen. I'm fine with doctors mentioning my weight. I'm overweight, that's just a fact. But it's not an excuse to treat me like I'm ignorant, or somehow less deserving of being heard and treated fairly. This is an all-to common phenomenon with doctors, and I'm sad that Peacehealth fosters this kind of an environment. No one should have to worry about being bullied by the person who took and oath to be a healer, and takes money in exchange for those services.

Vancouver Clinics billing department is the absolutely worst company I deal with when it comes to…read morebills, billed incorrectly, having no clue where the copay has been applied. I have zero trouble with any other company I pay bills too and for reference we own 4 homes; so I pay so many bills. BUT the only place I have a problem...consistently is Vancouver Clinic. They treat you like your time means nothing! Scheduled me to wait for up to an hour without telling me for a 15 minute procedure, ridiculous! I'm treated for high blood pressure and severe anxiety and they're the only place that I deal with that makes my blood pressure go up...my doctor's office! Then when you message the billing department it takes no less than 4 days to hear from someone, anyone. I've sent so many complaints that didn't even receive an answer and it took billing 1 time...3 months to answer me. I like my doctor and really dislike their billing!

I wrote a letter to their chief medical officer and she told me that they don't like patients to call and talk to the individual doctor office staff because "sometimes the calls go on a bit to long and the staff are trying to help patients..." What the hell am I - a potted plant? Needless to say, I have new doctor. A human at the actual doctor's office answers the phone.
