My wife was drugged at Rich's on Pride Weekend. We ended up in the hospital and the doctor determined based on her condition the drug was GHB. Although the head of security handled the situation very well, I reached out to Rich's regarding partnership to review their security cameras and they have been very unresponsive. If you go here, watch your drinks and know that there are predators who frequent there that create an unsafe space for our community. We reluctantly wheat back for a friend and didn't have any drinks, but one of our iPhones got stolen on the dance floor. Please watch out and be aware. read more

I lived a lot about Rich's on my night out during Pride weekend, but I have to give them one star because the sheer amount of pickpockets they had. I literally caught a girl trying to steal my phone and pointed her out to the security and he gave me a bewildered look and clearly was stoned and didn't know what to do. Throughout the night I caught 4 other pickpockets. Most working in pairs. I alerted the security and they would ping pong me around to the next person. Nobody knew what to do or how to handle it. It was sad seeing many people at the end of the night looking around for phones and wallets. I witness one guy freak out and start accusing people of stealing his stuff and security promptly ushered him out. I'm sorry but a sign on the wall saying beware pickpockets does not absolve you of any responsibility. You need to create a safe space for your clientele and the security you hire is not up to snuff. Why don't you have walkies or a way for them to communicate since they don't seem to want to leave their posts. Definitely need to up your game guys. As for people who might still go. Please be vigilant. I saw people who had items taken out of cross body packs. These people, well some of them lol, know what they are doing and will get you if you're a little too drunk or distracted making out with a cutie or making your way through a crowd. Most of them definitely stuck out. Lots of straight couples who did not look like they were dressed for a night out at a gay bar if that makes sense. If you see something be like the Italian woman on tiktok and shame their asses. They get scared and run. read more

Terrible bartenders. We were served by Nicole who was extremely rude for no apparent reason. I recently spoke to a friend who comes quiet often and she also mentioned getting the same treatment. Aside from being rude she purposely made our drinks with basically no alcohol. We tried asking another bartender to remake them but he continuously refused to and told us only she could remake them. After the worst experience why would we trust her to remake them? I rarely write any reviews but this experience deserved one. Avoid Nicole at all costs, she seems to be the only female bartender and she's at the second stage closer to the bathroom she has short hair. read more

They're getting a three star review up until further notice. I went there once The ambiance was great it was loud the lights were attractive. However my qualms are with the service. I believe that while they do not take any responsibility for things that are lost or stolen, they are responsible for the things that are still in their possession. So am not sure how they do things around there but I had lost my wallet back in August there and I had texted the number they have for the lost and found and had given up when after a month I didn't hear anything. I mean you'd think that after one month they'd have swept and moped behind everything. Well no, it is now December and it has been 4 months since I lost my wallet and I finally get a text from them that it's at their lost and found. Unless they sweep like every four months and just found it, it would imply that it's been sitting there for four months. Now I take responsibility when I lost it and I replaced all my cards and made peace with loosing it however (and I am very happy it was found) and I am very unhappy with how long it took them to notify me. I'm really impressed with their outdoor seating area during COVID. Probably the best time we've had at gay bar/restaurant during this tough time. There is a time limit and everything is served fast. Food is coming from Lestat's, for those wondering. I've been asked many times as it's not known for serving anything, but looks and alcohol. I visited Rich's for the first time last Sunday, June 6th with a couple of friends. I had driven down from Los Angeles earlier that day and was eager to start my two-day vacation. One of my friends made a reservation for us at Rich's for about 10:30 p.m. that Sunday evening. Unfortunately, our experience at Rich's was extremely negative right from the beginning. After we had been seated about 10 or 15 minutes, an employee (I believe she was a security guard) approached one of my friends and accused him of doing drugs at the table and of inappropriately touching a female patron. He was absolutely shocked and explained to her that we had literally just gotten there, and that she must have the wrong table. She left us alone, but did not apologize for her unwarranted accusations. After this awkward and unwelcoming experience, my friend flagged down our server and explained the situation. While our server apologized, Rich's management made no attempt to rectify the accusation from their employee. A short while later, my other friend and I walked inside to use the restroom. There was no one seated inside as only the outdoor patio/lounge was in use. It was very hard to see inside as the lighting was extremely low. On the way to the restroom, I fell because there was a huge step down on the way to the bathroom. I almost hesitate to call it a step as it was so large; it was more like a ledge. I sustained a bad ankle sprain and a gash in my leg from the fall (see attached pictures taken a couple days later, once I was back in LA ). While I was writhing on the floor holding my ankle, two employees rushed over and asked my friend if I was okay. They stated "this happens all the time." However, they did not call a manager to check in with me about the situation. At this point, my friends paid the tab and helped me into our Uber, as I could not put any weight on my ankle. This experience completely ruined my trip as I was unable to walk the next day. Instead of enjoying my vacation and exploring San Diego as anticipated, I was relegated to my Airbnb in serious pain. My ankle was so swollen I could not put even the tiniest bit of weight on it. In addition, it really inconvenienced my family as I was unable to drive my car back home the next day and had to have my boyfriend and my mom drive down from LA to rescue me (my mom drove my car back). What a waste of several hundred dollars. I ordered crutches but still have still have very limited mobility. It has now been over a week and I am still using them. Now that I have had time to reflect on this situation, I am honestly shocked they would have such a dangerous ledge on the way to the restroom. I don't want anyone else to have to deal with a ruined vacation and the pain this has caused me. It seems reckless to have a ledge like that anywhere, particularly in a dark nightclub on the way to the restroom! The employees' statement that this "happens all the time" also shows they are aware of the inherent risk. I am shocked by this establishment's lack of professionalism. First, we were falsely accused of serious crimes within minutes of arrival. Second, they failed to act professionally regarding my fall, which was absolutely their fault. Never was a manager called, and it is unbelievable that they did not even comp the one round of drinks we ordered! Needless to say, it was a very expensive experience that I have no desire to repeat. I will NEVER return to this place and strongly suggest everyone avoid it. read more

Avoid going here on a Wednesday. Just a bunch of trashy irresponsible college kids that take over. Always jam packed and lots of pushing and shoving. Can't even enjoy my time there with my girls. Went there on New Year's Eve. It was super crowded as expected , however there was no security inside to control the crowd. At one point, a lady fell on the floor, people were stepping on her. If the fire department showed up, they would've definitely shut them down. I guess they decided to turn a blind eye that night. The security guards were more present towards the end of the evening when everyone left at around 1am. Very disappointing, it did have the potential to be a great spot. read more

TLDR; great place to end the night with two different dance floors, each with their own music. Drinks are a hit or miss, sometimes they're strong and sometimes it's like there's no alcohol. I think I've been here on Wednesdays more than the weekends and that's thanks to Welfare Wednesdays at Flicks. Most of the time we start off there for the cheap well drinks and then we head over to Rich's to end the night. During this visit, the line was around the corner at Flicks, so we skipped it and came here first. Pretty empty but as it got later, people from Flicks started to head over. It got pretty crowded but not so much where it was difficult to move through the crowds. There's two dance floors, one with EDM and the other hip hop. It's nice to be able to switch back and forth if you need a change in music. It can get pretty wild too. There's usually go go dancers and sometimes they have contests, which is essentially a strip show. There's also an outside patio with its own bar, if you need a breather. On the weekends, there's usually cover but I believe there's a number you can text that'll get you in for free. As long as you show the text to the bouncer, you're good. read more

If you love going out because you want to dance and have a good time, the music and lights don't get much better anywhere else. Drinks aren't that expensive compared to other clubs in San Diego and the bartenders are pretty heavy handed. If you want to complain about cover charges and drink prices, stay home. People seem to have forgotten the art of pregaming at home so they don't end up spending $100 at the bar. Before covid shut everything down this place was always busy, but in the last few months it has gotten a little ridiculous. It seems all the local college kids must have just found out about this place or something. Trust me, they stick out wonderfully in line. If you show up after 10:00/10:30, the line to get in is about 30 minutes minumum even on a Wednesday, but you'll certainly have entertainment at least. Your overall experience is really going to depend on who else shows up that night and is relatively outside of the club's control. There's always gonna be rude/overly intoxicated people, but as long as you are halfway aware of your surroundings you can stay away from them.
