Then I met one of workers who helped me out and gave me a wealth of knowledge about everything from whiskey to sake. I wish I would've grabbed his name, but unfortunately I didn't. Although it is a bit pricier than the states, there were some pretty good sales going on. Plus the store is super organized and offers everything from local Canadian Staples like Molson Canadian beer, craft beer from local breweries, whiskey's and sake's and everything in between. Only downside is a bit lacking on the mixers. Highly recommend coming here.

It has been a few times when I am wandering through the store looking for a gift. Today, I was probably one minute in the store when Francis approached me to ask if I needed help. He had a paper in his hand and I knew he was in the middle of something. Regardless, he answer my question about a wine for my boss and made a recommendation. Disappointed, I mentioned that unfortunately the wine was sold out. He ask me if I could wait a couple of minutes while he was going to get three bottles of his recommendation that had jut arrived. I mean, this is the definition of goin above and beyond. In the mean time Angelo, another staff that happened to be restocking the BC wines was also helping me. I want to say this is the best liquor store with the most helpful, kind, and knowledgable staff. I then asked Jerry, at the cashier if it was possible to speak with the Supervisor. Jerry very kindly called the supervisor and took me to her. Candy, was the Supervisor in turn and she was so appreciative for the acknowledgement I expressed about the unparalleled service at this store. Once I entered the store was pleasantly greeted by an attendant Jess and she was super helpful recommending an array of beers, wine, and spirits from their vast selection. Being an independent liquor store they offer unique international alcoholic wine and spirits you cannot find at your local BC Liquor stores. The store is so new that their payment system is not even set up to collect the deposit fee which is an extra bonus. YVR employees get a 10% discount on everything in the store and they offer a members reward program (no membership fee) which earns 1% on every dollar spent (example: spend $500 = $5 reward towards next purchase).

They had a nice selection of wines, but most of them I wasn't familiar with. The lady working there obviously saw my confusion and offered to help me. I told her what I was looking for, and she gave me some options. I decided on a French wine, and hoped for the best. It turned out to be amazing and everyone loved it. More than I usually pay for wine but definitely worth it! Awesome customer service. I'll be back.

Kerrisdale, the new mecca for Craft Beer!…read more Say what? I discovered this newly opened gem last week, so new they were furiously stocking the beer fridges with everything hoppy. I'm not intending to come across as an alchy here, but I have to admit that I have already stopped in three times (I am taking a course in the same building). With each passing day their beer selection has grown like a frothy ale and I gotta say, may be surpassing Brewery Creek in its quality and diversity. With names like Rogue, Lagunitas, Driftwood, Cannery littering the racks, there are some other noteworthy brews. Upright, Pretty Things, and literally dozens of Belgians ( way to many to name). So far, WCL has got the goods. I eagerly await my next visit. Probably Tuesday!

Some events are free and some have a fee so look on-line under Events for details and how to buy tickets. Since I am close to the Cambie store, I buy the tickets at the customer service counter. Friends and I will be going to 3 paid (reasonable like $15-20 per event) tastings. Last evening, we attended the Spanish Wine Tasting with Tapas and had a fantastic time learning directly from the winemaker/owner from Spain and served delicious authentic tapas from a food truck vendor, Boca'o. A fantastic mixed group with some beginners to experienced wine lovers. I also appreciate the small size of the room for about 20 people so felt like an intimidate gathering. For the price and experience, what a value. After the tasting, opportunities to buy the wines and have it autographed from the winemaker. The liquor store staff were also helpful in answering additional questions and where to locate other wines in the store for comparison.
