It's small though and there's only one area where you can sit and do work which feels up fast. However if you get there before it gets too busy then you're set. I'd come back though again.

I love my local library!!…read more ***LOCATION*** As the name suggests, this spot is located in Westover Hills. It's right on Westover Hills Blvd. near Devonshire rd. ***EXPERIENCE*** I always have a good experience here. It's an easy spot to walk or bike to. They have a good amount of bike lock space and a little parking lot behind it. The librarians who work here are very kind and helpful. It's a smaller library, but has most of the good stuff (at least in regards to what I'm trying to read). Like all libraries, you can put a book on hold or have a book sent to this library if it's not at this location. They have computers for their online catalog. They also have quite a few computers you can log into for personal use. This library is a great spot to get some work done or (surprise) read a book. I love all the natural lighting that spills into this space. ***PRICE*** It's free! It's a library. If no one has a hold on the book you're borrowing it'll automatically renew. ***BATHROOM*** There are single all gendered stalls you can use that are clean. ***CONCLUSION*** I love this library for its librarians, its space, and its books!

It can be a little overwhelming as there isn't really a rhyme or reason to the arrangement of the books. They also have a few toys and interactive play areas as well. The adult section is a little bland. The books are dated. I often have to have books delivered from another Library because they usually don't have it here. They do have a large magazine area with comfy oversized chairs. This library is outdated in comparison to its sister location at Atlee and could benefit from a refresh. The librarians are always super friendly and willing to help.

We only ventured to their children's section that is offset from the library. Their storytime is wonderful, the lady who reads the books to the children does a wonderful job, she is very engaged. She reads about 3 books based upon a theme and at the end the children do a related craft, very cute! The children's area itself is very nice, their are several computers for children to learn/play complete when headphones. Several areas for them to sit and read and lots of toys/gadgets, very nice. As much as I loved this place the first time I expected my second visit to be just as wonderful. Unfortunately, we missed storytime due to a mix up in time but my friend and I decided to let our children stay in the children's area. After an hour someone from the library came to us and asked us if we could be a little quieter. Seriously?! Yes, this is a library but we are in the children's section and if children laughing is a bother why attempt to cater to young children, needless to say, we left shortly after. Overall this is a nice library with many activities for families during the week and the weekend! Story time is amazing!

The teacher was very involved and I loved all the toys that they brought out for the kiddos after the story time. We didn't explore the rest of the library, but I'm looking forward to doing that later. I will say that I love the parking lot here more than my home library. There's a ramp right near some parking spaces in the lot - perfect for moms with strollers!

As a University of Richmond alumn, I have many fond memories of Boatwright Library. It was usually…read moreopen 24 hours a day back when I was a student, and I watched many sunrises and sunsets from the second floor silent section. There are two basement levels with reference sections, the ground floor, and the second floor up the dramatic lobby staircase. In the entrance to the building is a small coffee shop called 8:15, originally named after the earliest classes offered at UR (although now classes begin at 7:30). It has Starbucks coffee products, pastries, and some other small snack items for sale. They accept cash, card, and UR dining dollars. Food and drink is allowed in most parts of the library, and you'll often see students order pizza or Jimmy Johns to the ground floor. The basement levels are typically quiet or silent study only, as are parts of the second floor. This is taken very seriously, so you should not even whisper or open a packet of chips in silent areas. If you need to collaborate with a group or use A/V equipment, study rooms are available to be scheduled at the front desk. While it is accessible to the public during the day, please do be respectful of the fact that this is one of the primary places for students to study on campus, and that they should be prioritized. It was incredibly frustrating when I wasn't able to find a seat or the library was loud and messy because of non-students using it as a hangout spot.

Library service began in Hopewell area in 1930 when Thomas B. Robertson established a library association with a collection of 2000 donated books and Mrs. Maude Langhorne Nelson offered her services as volunteer librarian. She was so enthusiastic in providing library services to the citizens of Hopewell that she generously gave months of her time to catalog and run the library. With the installation of a pot-bellied stove and orange crates for shelves, they achieved Hopewell's first public library. In 1931, the city took over the library with Mrs. Maude Langhorne Nelson as its first librarian. Mrs. Nelson was instrumental in having the Council appoint a Library Board and supervised the move to a new location. With hardly any funds for anything, she made her own supplies, stretching each dollar to do the work of many in acquiring new books. Mrs. Nelson was known for contributing to any undertakings in Hopewell that involved elevating the minds and ethics of the young and old alike. She remained at this post till she resigned following the death of her husband. In 1949, the library name was changed to honor its first librarian, Maude Langhorne Nelson as a tribute to her outstanding civic contribution. Mrs. Nelson's devotion to the library did not stop when she retired. When the City was considering a new location in 1952, she got the ball rolling with a contribution to the new library building fund. Since then, her name has been synonymous with the library.

They have a nice organized kids section with legos, puzzles, and more to keep little busy. They also display local school art projects etc. My child is always excited to see the class artwork on display. There are plenty of FREE resources here that people do not realize. Free kid & adult classes, events and more. Sometimes registration fills quickly but they also have waitlist. We visit all the libraries to take advantage of the chesterfield resources. You can also check out a state park bag here to use as a local guide & activities when in the park.

3 stars for the library, 5 stars for its staff!…read more While this isn't the most extensive library in the area, its a nice little place to pop in and find a book or movie. If an item cannot be found at this location, they're very quick to locate and order it for you. The staff is very obliging and eager to help out, whatever the topic is. After I moved here I went in to look for community information and resources and the lady at the information desk went above and beyond to assist me. I came out loaded with books, printouts, brochures, and even some hand-written recommendations and suggestions. As this is the closest library to me I've visited often and I've always had the same great treatment from the staff. If this is the library that is closest to you, it is definitely worth utilizing.
