It's right on Westover Hills Blvd. near Devonshire rd. ***EXPERIENCE*** I always have a good experience here. It's an easy spot to walk or bike to. They have a good amount of bike lock space and a little parking lot behind it. The librarians who work here are very kind and helpful. It's a smaller library, but has most of the good stuff (at least in regards to what I'm trying to read). Like all libraries, you can put a book on hold or have a book sent to this library if it's not at this location. They have computers for their online catalog. They also have quite a few computers you can log into for personal use. This library is a great spot to get some work done or (surprise) read a book. I love all the natural lighting that spills into this space. ***PRICE*** It's free! It's a library. If no one has a hold on the book you're borrowing it'll automatically renew. ***BATHROOM*** There are single all gendered stalls you can use that are clean. ***CONCLUSION*** I love this library for its librarians, its space, and its books!

Whenever I come here, I adore exploring the front "hot and new" books section. It has to be my all-time favorite front section of any library I've been too. This place is huge. There is tons of seating to read or get work done at. There are also a lot of private rooms you are able to rent upstairs for meetings. It's very modern here. They are friendly, efficient, helpful and definitely more pleasant than the university kids sleeping in the booths or hiding behind dry eraser boards. The library itself is like a museum: clean, bright, organized and wide open. It is a terrible place to crash in the evening to catch some zzzz because the pedestrian traffic keeps your head spinning. The people watching potential is off the charts. We have got some strange humans walking amongst us! If someone wants to educate themselves on any topic, this library is the place to do it. It's not until you have that diploma in your hand that you realize what you had for four years: a fantastic, state-of-the-art center for knowledge that has an incredible number of resources all under one roof: historic artifacts, an efficient printmaking service, a kick-ass multimedia center, friendly and knowledgable staff, comfortable places to "read and relax," multiple quiet rooms (and noisy floors), independent study spaces, tons of DVDs, and more. Swem knows what it's doing, ladies and gentlemen, and that's even without funding out the wazoo like your hoity-toity private school down the interstate might enjoy. If you're looking for a place to work, study, or play, Swem is it. The last few times I've gone, I've noticed that their set up is a bit strange. I've had to go to the nonfiction section twice for fiction books because the catalog said they were there. Another time, the book I was looking for was missing (which isn't the library's fault). The people who work here are really kind and knowledgeable. They will help you and give you good tips. On the lost book occasion, the librarian checked four possible places for me, spending about 30 minutes hunting down the book before helping me put a hold on another copy. This library has a lot of potential. For example, I'd love if they offered a hot and new section, or put more popular/genre displays up. I love the Westover Hills Richmond Library because they showcase the hottest reads which inspires me to read even more. I think the Main Library could benefit from some reorganization. Besides this, it's a great space. They have wonderful rooms to rent out (I've seen RVA Rapid Transit's Mobility University held in a great space here). They also have a lovely garden in the back. The teacher was very involved and I loved all the toys that they brought out for the kiddos after the story time. We didn't explore the rest of the library, but I'm looking forward to doing that later. I will say that I love the parking lot here more than my home library. There's a ramp right near some parking spaces in the lot - perfect for moms with strollers!
