When I arrived to the viewing it was not there and I spoke with a young man who seemed unconcerned who suggested I call the florist. I explained that I did not know who the florist was as I had ordered through them. He went to an office and wrote down the phone number of a local florist and said I should call them in the morning. I explained to him that the funeral service was in the morning. All of this concerned me that he seemed to be unaware of as he was standing in front of the room for her viewing where all of this was posted. I was very upset that one side of her casket was bare as the other standing arrangement my cousin ordered was there but my matching one was missing for the viewing but the young man assured me that the florist could get it to the service in the morning. Somehow I knew this was impossible if I was calling them when they opened barely an hour before her funeral. But I still called in the morning and surprise, the florist did not have the order and could not help me. I called Bliley's and spoke with someone and explained what had happened again- they were unaware of the issue from the night before so it was like starting from scratch. They then directed me to an outside company that manages their Tribute Wall and said they would call me back. I contacted the other company who acknowledged that they had taken the payment the week prior but that at this point it was too late to send the arrangement to the funeral. You don't say! They said "I guess we will issue you a refund". I said I guess you'd better. I would like to point out that I was calm and courteous during each of these interactions and only during the viewing when I noticed the missing arrangement was I slightly teary eyed because it was the viewing after all. But not ONCE did anyone from Bliley's or their payment processor apologize or say anything resembling an I'm sorry for ruining your memory of your grandmother's service. Not only did they not apologize, Bliley's staff never called me back or even attempted to make the situation right and have the flowers at the service. For something as important as a memorial service or viewing I won't ever recommend a business that ignores issues and doesn't even try to rectify them. Oh I almost forgot! Because they processed my refund they removed the post that I made when I ordered the arraignment on their Tribute Wall from my kids to their great grandmother.

As a mortician, you will witness families in their most vulnerable, raw, and uncut emotional state, and sometimes it isn't pretty. My father passed away in November and Eric was knowledgeable and informative on what to expect regarding COVID 19 restrictions. Good example, because of COVID restrictions, we ran into a few hiccups with the cemetery with my father being buried with Military Honors. Eric quickly made a phone call and without missing a beat, our father was buried with Military Honors. The feature of LIVE Streaming as perfect as we had a fair amount of family not able to travel or attend because of COVID. As I sat in the back instead of with my family during the ceremony, I was seated behind a man. Unbeknownst to me who HE was. He continued to sigh, look at his watch and make exaggerated facial expressions. He seemed bored, bothered, uninterested. DISRESPECTFUL in the house of the Lord. I sat behind him for an entire hour enraged. Watching him toggle between apps on his phone. Whispering to the person beside him and laughing within their very loud and inappropriate conversation about going fishing etc. I could've created a scene but that wouldn't have been very helpful. They were Eulogizing my aunt and there he was completely disconnected. To my surprise. Imagine how I felt once I found out that man was Larry Owens. The funeral director and REVERN. How embarrassing. Disappointed. Disreputable and Disgusting. After the ceremony I disclosed the events to a relative and she confronted him while they were attempting to carry the casket to the burial site behind the church. I too then approached him outside. After telling him how utterly disrespectful he was to the church, God and my aunt, He simply said, well I was a little bored. I'm sorry sometimes I get in my phone to pass the time. I was surprised but I wasn't shocked. He looks like a shady character from a poorly written Tyler Perry parody anyway so if the Bigen fits, wear it right. He had the audacity to ask for forgiveness in the most condescending and insulting tone. I told him NO! I don't forgive you. And there were a few other choice words I wanted to leave with him. But I refrained. I walked away. Despite your irreverence Larry Owens, your boredom during a funeral service and your complete disregard or lack of social awareness and funeral etiquette, I suppose you're well regarded in this realm of funeral service. However, in the future should you cross paths with someone who handles anger differently during mourning the situation might turn out different. You must do better! You owe this community better!
