The coffee we had was very good- latte and flat white. They had run out of cold brew. Cinnamon bun was very sweet but good. The gluten free brownie was ok and chocolate chip cookie was airy (interesting) and enjoyed. If we had more time would have liked to have a full lunch.

It was mid-day and we hadn't had breakfast, so we looked online and saw that you could order takeout from The Girl & The Raven Nextdoor. I ordered the Raven burger and it was delicious. I think the best way to describe it - which is going to sound weird - is that it was like an upscale White Castle burger, flavor wise. The sautéed onions and burger flavor are very, very savory and exactly what I was wanting. The whole burger was perfect, which is rare because I actually hate eating buns and I ate all of it. I ordered the Reuben sandwich for my husband and he loved it. The meat had some overly bigger pieces in it when you bit into it, but it wasn't too dry overall like some Reubens sometimes are. I had originally ordered fries to go with our sandwiches, but they called me and told me the fryers were already turned off (45 minutes early) and that they couldn't make those and could refund them or the whole order. I just had them refund the fries became we were still hungry and wanted lunch, but it was frustrating that they were closing down everything too early (and on a Saturday, not sure if the area doesn't get very busy, but it felt weird to do that on a weekend) and when they asked if I wanted just the fries refunded or the whole meal it seemed like they hoped I would cancel everything. It's also a small amount, but I don't appreciate paying a tip % on an order and then having items cancelled and the overall bill and work put into it is smaller.

Cool spot for breakfast or lunch. And I guess coffee…read more I don't drink coffee, but my friend Bod does. I stayed in Bluefield and he lives in Princeton, but he met me here since it was on my way to Cherokee. This leg of the trip was to drop off some cash for Mr. Bob. A lot of it. No, not that kind of money. Clean money. Anyway... The staff here is super friendly, the atmosphere fits the area, and the place has some charm. It looks like the prices for the sandwiches are very fair, but I got a bagel, and the price for one bagel is too high. However, this is more of a sandwich and coffee shop; it's not a bagel store. I definitely recommend The Grind. I'm not really a morning person so I don't know what Bob was talking about half the time, but that's just me. Definitely recommended!

It is next to the Edith Bolling Wilson Birthplace Museum, so stopping here after a visit would be super easy. There were plenty of specialty drinks on the menu, and they trended towards the sugary direction. There were plenty of families enjoying the space, and options for kids and adults. My drink ended up being sugary-sweet and I probably would have asked them to dial it down if I had realized. On the plus side, they were able to get drinks out pretty quickly, in spite of there being quite the crowd. The space was clean and modern. Also, the bathroom was clean and very much appreciated on our road trip. I probably wouldn't sit and enjoy my drink here, due to the high traffic (at least when I visited). For a quick stop in, it's nice. I'll be sure to order better next time. Solid spot!
