Public libraries are pretty poorly funded, so they don't have a huge amount of books. They rely a lot on donations, so I wouldn't be too expectant of finding every book you're ever going to want to read. They provide a good service though (albeit a limited one), and most libraries have a small selection of DVDs that you can borrow off them as well. If you're going to Suffolk library, be sure to check the noticeboards for the times of any classes that may be on. There's a mother and toddler group held in here at different times of the year, and while that's great for mothers and toddlers, it's not so great if you're sitting there trying to get something done and you're being repeatedly reminded that in fact, yes, the wheels on the bus do go round and round. Round and round... not quite all day long, but for an hour or so anyway. But hey, it's good to see that groups like this have somewhere to go, so you just need to plan a bit before you go here for a bit of quiet reading or research.

It has about 15 computers, all with internet access, although you do need to be a member of the libraries to use the facilities. This is a pretty straightforward process, as you just need to have some photo ID and something to confirm your address. Obviously you don't need to join every individual library. Once you're a member of one, you can use any o them in the Belfast area. As with most libraries these days, they have a bit of a limited selection, but you're bound to find something in here that interests you. They also have a limited number of movies that you can borrow as well, and even have a section that's dedicated to children's books. It's a decent little library, is usually quiet, and has very helpful and friendly staff on hand to help you if you can't find what you're looking for.

Armagh City Library located on Market Street is a public library offering book borrowing, free…read morewifi, public computers, audiobooks, newspapers and faxing, scanning and photocopying facilities to members. It's a warm, welcoming, small library located in a beautiful, square, Georgian style building dating from 1815 (the building itself is called Market House). There are some comfy chairs and sofas to relax in and as with all libraries a peaceful, quiet vibe pervades. If you are a member of public Libraries NI you can use your library card in any public library. So if you are visiting Armagh from Belfast or Newry, or anywhere else, you can use the full Armagh City Library facilities and also return or borrow books there. For locals Armagh library run various events including adult and children's book and reading clubs, patchwork quilting and knitting groups throughout the week. I love public libraries and wish more people used them. If you want a book which is not in your local branch, for a few pence, you can order a copy in from another library. Why spend a fortune buying traditional or electronic books?! Nowadays even top, popular, best sellers and new release books are available free from public libraries or can be ordered in for you. It's also free and easy to join a public library - just pop in with proof of identification showing your name and current address e.g. a bill or driving licence. Painless! So go on - do it!

Well first you've got to find the bloomin' place (go to the town square, look for the red bricked…read morebuilding and go to the back of it, walk in through the door and up the stairs...), and then you've got to work out what the heck a library is doing on the top floor of a town hall. Your guess is as good as mine... My brother told me that Dromore Library might provide me with some information on this wonderfully cultured town, so with that in mind, I decided to have a peek. Yep, in through the door, up the stairs, and into a sort of little corridor-cum-information area. There were a good few leaflets on exceptionally random stuff that had nothing to do with Dromore, plus those tourist information leaflets all about The Zoo / Streamvale Open Farm / Dundonald International Ice Bowl. Oh, and nothing on Dromore. Not a sausage (though that would have been an interesting discovery). Well that was that idea out the window... I did take a look in the actual library and noticed two things: - It's fairly decently sized and has plenty of books. Both of which make for a good library. - No-one was there. Apart from the librarian it was as dead as a doornail. Can't say I was overly impressed. Nice location though, if a bit random...

Emain Macha or Navan Fort's one of Ireland's major archeological sites. It was an ancient capital…read moreand home to the Celtic Kings of Ulster. I've been to Navan Fort numerous times but never visited the Centre located at it therefore went today to check it out. If you're going it's quite interesting to read up first on the Ulster Cycle of Tales, Queen Macha, Red Branch Knights and Cuchullain so you have some background knowledge. However guided tours can be arranged and there's a lot of information both in Navan Centre and Fort itself anyway. The Navan Centre is beautifully designed to fit in with and compliment the landscape. It's architecturally perfect for the location being circular and organic in appearance with an emphasis on grass, stone and wood. Inside there's a cafe, gift shop, exhibit rooms and toilets. On our visit today we picked up some gorgeous free posters and postcards. I couldn't resist some of the Celtic themed jewellery in the gift shop which was reasonably priced. Even if not a tourist I think most people will see quite a few gift items they might want to buy. Staff are very helpful and offered us free booklets, information and maps. We also stopped at the cafe for a bottle of mineral water and a tea which cost only £2.20 in total. This coffee shop is lovely with comfortable seating and serves a range of scones, tray bakes, sandwiches, paninis and some hot dishes such as lasagna and soup. There's outside seating as well which is delightful for a dry sunny day. Car parking is free and outside the Centre there are functioning replicas of 2000 year old Celtic houses with Living History Actors in full dress to chat to you, perform and entertain. The walk from Centre to Fort is short taking only 10-15 minutes. Along the way you'll find an Ecology Trail, sculptures and information points. Navan Fort itself is a bit of an uphill walk. There are stone steps to help though be careful because in wet weather the earth can be slippy. Once on top of Navan Fort there are beautiful views over Armagh so it's well worth the climb. Overall a trip to Navan Centre and Fort makes for an excellent and very interesting day out. Plus you can take the kids and dog with you and make it a full family event. Definitely one of the top things to do if you're in Armagh.

Tickets and guided tour are required for the castle, there were a lot of historic events happened…read morein this place. It's not allowed to take pictures or videos inside of the castle. The staff was very knowledgeable and shared quite bit of political tidbit. The garden is very beautiful, it's quite enjoyable experience to follow the trail.

The Tourist Information sign does not prepare you for the fascinating interior of Hillsborough…read moreCourthouse, a very fine Georgian building alone. Informative and pleasant though the information office is, the real show stealer is the exhibition on the Irish legal system in the courthouse itself. This may not sound exciting but it is imaginatively set up with realistic life size figures clothed in authentic historic garb furnished with artefacts and explanation. The display leads to the actual court room, no doubt the scene of much high drama in the past. On a the way past, look through a back door and see an entrance to Hillsborough Castle with sentry boxes outside the gate emblazoned with ER, a reminder that this unspoilt villlage is also the official residence of the Secretary of State.
