Seriously the best Macarons in Amsterdam! The also have beautiful tarts and chocolates, I will have to go back and try those too! There are usually some samples available for you to try. I…read morewon't go into the details but in short there was a mistake made at the patisserie and the length the owner went to correct it was very admirable and UNHEARD of in Amsterdam. Good customer service is a commodity in this town so I had to look into this place... As a result of the mistake and the story of it's correction, I'd consider myself now to be a Tout regular. I buy the macaroons as gifts for people, I use them to impress my bosses and let's be honest, I cheekily gift them to myself as well. :) I also took part in the macaroon workshop which was great! My only complaint here was that we weren't able to do everything ourselves but due to the nature of macaroons, it would need to be a pretty long workshop (try 3 days!). The price of the workshop might seem steep (I think 60 euros) but I came out of there with almost 2 full boxes of mini macaroons so it's totally worth it if you ask me - not to mention the afternoon of educational fun and the owner is his own brand of eye-candy... :P

Though the shop space is quite small, Delicious Sweetness has a wonderful and reasonably varied selection of French pastries, from vanilla/chocolate/coffee eclairs to an array of different macarons to all sorts of beautiful tarts (I ordered the passionfruit coconut one, but the motorcyclists were apparently huge fans of the lemon meringue tarts). They also have breakfast pastries - the croissants looked amazing, but unfortunately, I did not have the chance to try them. Both the coffee eclair and the passionfruit coconut tart were delicious - not too sweet, and clearly freshly made. The coffee eclair had a slightly crunchy, chewy exterior that was not at all compromised by the ample filling of coffee-flavored cream, and the ring of desiccated coconut on the passionfruit coconut tart provided a great texture contrast to the smooth, slightly tart passionfruit curd. The owner was quite friendly, and the shop accepts both credit card and cash. If you're in the area and craving something sweet, definitely stop by Delicious Sweetness!

I have to say the proprietors are a bit 'unusual' in that one might lose sight of a customer completely after a pigeon that just flew in 'ruined' the shop window, when this could be dealt with after having taken care of the customer. But I guess that only adds to the charm (if you're not in a hurry lol). This does not however diminish in any way the quality of their product. Their freshly roasted nuts are delicious, often still a bit warm when just after you bought them. They often have salted and NON salted versions of most nuts. They also have a nice selection of dried fruits and berries and if I remember correctly homemade peanut butter (I still have to try that one though). For a great selection of freshly roasted nuts, dried fruits and the like, this place will not disappoint you.

Go in and look and sniff around. The smell and view of all those different herbs and colours is amazing and brings back memories of ancient times.. You can find any kind of 'international' flavours, herbs, different kind of salts and peppers, flowers, food colouring, rose waters, nuts, dades (you have to try the fresh dades from Iran!!! those are really fresh and a bit juicy), tea, rice, couscous, noodles, curry pastes, cookies, honey, sugar crystals, nougat and more. The owners (from Iran) are also very friendly and if you're looking for something they are happy to help, the prices are quite 'normal' to inexpensive.

Basically a whole…read moresection of the street is shut down on a permanent basis and there are vendors with stalls set up on both sides of the street. If I was to guess, I would say there are maybe around 80-100 stalls? The vendors seem to set up around 9am and the products sold run the gamut such as flowers, cheese, wine, clothing, vegetables and fruit.
