I haven't been to Patisserie Tout in a while, but everytime I go it is amazing. The people are so…read morefriendly and happy to help. My favorites are salted caramel, rose lychee, vanilla, and chocolate lavender. We love trying the monthly specials too. This month was Lemoncello... Delicious! Seriously the best Macarons in Amsterdam! The also have beautiful tarts and chocolates, I will have to go back and try those too! There are usually some samples available for you to try. Find a new love!

Tout ended up on my radar as a result of a someone discussing their excellent customer service. I…read morewon't go into the details but in short there was a mistake made at the patisserie and the length the owner went to correct it was very admirable and UNHEARD of in Amsterdam. Good customer service is a commodity in this town so I had to look into this place... As a result of the mistake and the story of it's correction, I'd consider myself now to be a Tout regular. I buy the macaroons as gifts for people, I use them to impress my bosses and let's be honest, I cheekily gift them to myself as well. :) I also took part in the macaroon workshop which was great! My only complaint here was that we weren't able to do everything ourselves but due to the nature of macaroons, it would need to be a pretty long workshop (try 3 days!). The price of the workshop might seem steep (I think 60 euros) but I came out of there with almost 2 full boxes of mini macaroons so it's totally worth it if you ask me - not to mention the afternoon of educational fun and the owner is his own brand of eye-candy... :P

Not the best gelato of my life, I have to be sincere. We…read morecame here some weeks ago, 'cause it was a really (and unbelievable) warm afternoon in Amsterdam and I was craving for an ice-cream. The place is really nice, clean and so bright, and it was full of happy kids with their families. As Italian, what I immediately noticed was the perfect queue: if you enter in a traditional Italian gelateria, everyone is in front of the servery (or whatever it is called) choosing and looking at the gelato varieties. Instead, reading the flavour and picking them from that distance for me is difficult :). Anyway, I tried pistachio and lemon, but nothing special for what I'm used to. I personally don't like when you, as a customer, could not taste a sample in a gelateria of what you'll pay for. That said, I don't mean that someone has to taste everything... Lastly, doesn't really matter the size of the cups or the ice-cream cone, because the gelato balls are similar and small for a final gelato not even so generous.. I'll give 3 stars, because I am.

Across from the big windmill in centrum-oost sits this little ice cream parlor that also tempts…read morepatrons with macaroons, cookies, lemon meringue pie and coffee and tea. The staff is friendly and they have a good selection of ice cream flavors, all of which look delicious. I tried their vanilla (a little custard-y instead of vanilla bean-y, but not totally like the grocery store cheap stuff) and citron (a little intense but also not too much) on a nice old-fashioned cone, and I'm sure they will be packed once it starts being warm outside. My husband prefers their vanilla and stracciatella ice cream over all others because they use real vanilla beans instead of vanilla extract. It's not the best ice cream I've ever had, but it is pretty good. And they have tables and chairs and lots of room inside, so it will be a great place to hide out from the sun in the summer.
