The Richards does not communicate effectively, and sometimes not even at all. We had four different types of insurance policies with them. None of them were serviced properly, and they were rude unapologeticand confrontational when contacted about the failure on their part. Don't do business with this dangerous company that may leave you under or completely uninsured. They are not interested in insuring small business. Look elsewhere. After being a customer for many years our agent deliberately ignored emails from the underwriter requesting information and contacting our company. This was verified with a conversation directly with the underwriter. The agent deliberately put our company at risk. read more

Stay away from these guys...and see the reviews here. Our sub contracting business with sales over a $1.5M had been with the previous agency (before being bought out by R.G). We had yearly insurance payments with them over $30,000/yr with business and personal policies for close to 10 yrs. Due to a soft retirement for the business it was prudent to put our liability policy on hold for a 4 month duration. This was all approved by our agent. When it came time to continue the policy, it was found to have been canceled and because of that they would not even entertain writing us another policy. They are NOT interested in customer service and only care about the easiest way forward and the bottom line. . read more

As the result of an unusually cold period in February, our church suffered a broken pipe and the attendant flood which rendered our basement unusable, destroyed office carpet, and wicked up walls. We called The Richards Group at a local Brattleboro number, then placed a call to their 800 number, then attempted contact with their published email to report our loss. This process was repeated days later with the same result- no response. Messages were left, emails were not acknowledged, but the only response we received was a cancellation notice, when we chose not to renew their coverage. Apparently this business doesn't feel the need to provide ANY service for the money they collect. We have insured with others and will pass on our experience when asked for a reference. I would have declined to rate this business, because even a single star indicates they provided SOME service, but in order to submit a review, I am required to select a rating level. They did nothing. When considering insurance options, save your money. Richards Group provided no service. read more
