I had a chronic on going cough and was happy to find a doctor who was compassionate, patient and…read more"old school." Dr. Armstrong is amazing. He thinks outside the box and explains things in layman's terms. He's a 10 star doctor. He listens. He "gets" it. It doesn't matter what "it" is. He understands. The "gatekeepers" (front desk staff) are no stars. Doctors are busy. That is why they have nurses and staff members to handle details for them. If I can't reach a doctor, he won't know I called. The last straw for me was rushing to an appointment only to find out that the doctor was out of town. No one called to cancel. I don't blame the doctor. I'm disappointed in his staff. This isn't the first incident. It is simply the last one for me. What added to my disappointment was that someone scheduled me for an appointment while my doctor was on vacation. If the receptionist had apologized for making a mistake, I could have accepted it. When four people frowned at me and wanted to make it my fault that they were wrong, I had already fired them in my head. I have caller id. No one left a message to say they needed to reschedule, unless it was a psychic one. All patients have the right to be treated with dignity and respect. I placed five calls (over several weeks) to the doctor's office. None of the messages were relayed. Since the doctor's office is private, the patient advocacy office couldn't help me. I spoke to my insurance company. I didn't want to burn a bridge. I wanted to reach my doctor when needed. To make matters worse, when I complained, the employees changed their story and said that they didn't have the correct number on file. The most disappointing moment happened after a follow up visit. The office manager didn't realize I could hear her talking about me. If an office manager is unkind and staff members won't relay messages, there isn't a way to keep visiting the doctor, even if he is decent and has a passion for practicing medicine. If you can't leave messages or be smiled at, why schedule an awkward encounter every few months? I can get grumpy service at many fast food restaurants and the wait time is shorter. Pun intended, I won't be holding my breath for the doctor to call me back.

My husband and I have been trying for over a week to make an appointment for an elderly neighbor…read more This is a senior citizen who has serious health issues and should be visiting Dr. Polk on a regular basis. The office staff claimed (FOR OVER A WEEK) that their computer system was down and they cannot make appointments. After a week of calling and I asked if our loved one could have a walk-in appointment, the office clerk asked what doctor she would be seeing. When I told her that it was Dr. Polk, she said that he was on vacation and to call back on Monday. Today is Monday and the answering machine says that the office is closed today. This patient has terminal cancer and congestive heart failure. Our next step is to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. We hear that Dr. Polk is a great doctor, but whoever is running the office is very unprofessional and may cause some of these doctors to lose patients.

Based on the great reviews for this clinic, I decided to give it a try. The process to book an appointment was quick and seamless. The clinic is in a pretty good location and near Georgia Ave. One of the assistants provided instructions on where the front entrance is because the GPS had me on the side street facing construction lol. Overall, great service and staff. Everyone was kind and helpful. Dr. Vasif Kalfa is wonderful. He was attentive and took his time providing feedback as well as answering my questions. I recommend everyone to get tested for food allergies. The results can be surprising for sure! If you do decide to get a food allergy test, be sure to check out this location!

Dr. Van Lancker saved my life after years of treatment for my allergies and severe asthma. When…read moreeverything got much worse, while all my medications stopped working, Dr VL was determined to figure out the problem, and find a solution. She pulled together a team of the best diagnosticians and although it took a few years, she figured out that I had one of the rarest of diseases. And she promised that together, with experts at NIH, we would figure it out. She got me into a trial of the biologic drug, Xolair, which made a tremendous difference. But the rarest disease, hypereosinophilic syndrome (HES), took 5 more years to get a new biologic. But the miracle was that with the first injection of it, I went into complete remission. Unfortunately she moved from the major practice she was in to a smaller one for several years, so I have missed her. I'm hoping to hear soon that she takes my new insurance and will take me back as a patient. Most patients will never have to deal with the complexities this fatal disease brings to treatment for asthma and complex allergies. But if you are concerned about your disease, or have another project, I wholeheartedly endorse her. Fingers crossed she'll take me back soon. Debbie A
