They are like mechanics trying to push the most expensive things they can. To top it all off they coded my exam with the only code my insurance doesn't cover. When I called my insurance, they informed me of four codes they pay for exams and stated the only one they don't cover is the one they billed under. I reached out and they informed me they wouldn't change it. I asked if self pay was an option as the bill was $159 and was told it would still be the same. So, for $159 they did nothing but give me a quote for $4,500 worth of dental work they suggested for me. Steer clear as I believe this place is money hungry.

We went there for my 11 year old child's broken front tooth. The dentist recommended we crown both…read morefront teeth, even though only one was broken, to ensure they match. I stated that I wasn't keen to crown a healthy tooth for just a cosmetic reason at 11, especially when my insurance wouldn't cover crowns until 16. She agreed, and I was given a quote that showed $1175 for one crown on visit 1 and $1175 for a second crown on visit 2 if I changed my mind. The following Monday at the appt, BOTH of my child's front teeth were shaved down. The dentist then sent her receptionist in to take the blame, claiming she thought I changed my mind and authorized it later --- as if 2 minutes with the receptionist was going to change my thoughts after 45 minutes with the "expert", and when I pointed that out, then they referred to my HSA and that I "had the money anyway" which was absolutely not the point. I was told they would not charge for the second and paid for the ONE I authorized in full. Then, a few weeks later, I receive a bill for an additional $260 and the statement shows they ALSO did bill insurance, which did pay after all, so they collected an additional $580 from my dental insurance (which I now will not be able to use out of the $1000 annual maximum) for A TOOTH THEY NEVER SHOULD HAVE TOUCHED, effectively costing me an additional $600 for their error. When I called, I was told "I can't help you because I don't see a balance," as if waiving the $260 bill negates the extra $580 they have effectively scammed and stolen from me and my insurance company. i will be taking all possible action against this dentist and the office and suggest you stay far away from their "miscommunication" and "mistakes"

I just assumed going over what my insurance was able to cover was meaning it was in network but both those words was never said. I owe so much money it's sick and during inflation it's even worse. I can't be the only one thinking my kids two cavities should cost me out of pocket 1,000 at the beginning of the year. And it's prolly other places as well. Everyone was so nice here just appreciated everyone's time. I wish it was told first hand this is only out of network it should be said directly to everyone as a new patient. Also the rep shouldn't ask you why you are rescheduling an appointment, that's none of their business , at least I called.

The hygienist was very over bearing. When I questioned why we haven't started to clean my teeth as I needed to get to work, she told me well then you would need to re-schedule as we need over an hour for a cleaning. The experience was very unprofessional and upsetting. You should never have to pay over $500 for a routine cleaning.

Coal City Dental has worked a miracle and now my teeth are in better shape than they have been in decades. It makes me so happy to hear the progress and to see it. I was in danger of losing more teeth but thanks to the staff, they are reversing that trend. The entire staff is helpful and friendly. They really care and will treat you like an individual.

But you aren't going to like anybody who tells you that due to neglect you are going to need to get your remaining teeth pulled.
