The doctor's were there waiting for the service manager to take a look at their vehicle. The mechanic shouted across the garage, "Hey, Doc, can I ask you a question?" Dr. R, a bit surprised, walked over to the mechanic working on the motor. The mechanic straightened up, wiped his hands on a rag and asked, "So Doc, look at this engine. I open it's heart; take the valves out, fix 'em, put 'em back in and when I finish, it works just like new. So how come I get a small salary and you get the big bucks, when you and I are basically doing the same work?" The doctor paused, smiled, leaned over and whispered to the mechanic...."Try doing it with the engine running." In writing this review of Rothfus Family Dental, I want potential and current patients to see things from a new perspective so you feel empowered, not offer an opinion on weather it is good or bad. I have been a patient of record at Rothfus Family Dental located in Medford, Oregon for fifteen years. I have been treated by Dr. Randy Rothfus and Dr. Karla Rothfus, exclusively, for extended periods of time and through various maladies from routine dental care to potentially lifesaving diagnostics. Each doctor was the first in my health care team to alert me to an emerging health crisis based upon my routine exams. Each doctor refereed me to an appropriate specialist to confirm their conviction. Each diagnosis was confirmed, in time for early intervention, to reverse and eradicate the course and condition of systemic disease. Throughout the years I have developed toothaches which I deemed intolerable, prompting me to call my dentist, after hours. Several times these events have occurred on Thanksgiving. My doctor's were immediately available, acting fast and comprehensively to eliminate my discomfort. They went so far as to arrange for me to pick up anti-biotic and pain medication at a hospital pharmacy as alternative sources for filling prescriptions were not available Thanksgiving night. I have chipped teeth chomping on popcorn, (which I no longer do), lost my retainers and imagined some horrible dental development, in my mind, all requiring immediate attention. In spite of an active, established practice, Cheryl, Kim, Dr. Rothfus, Jen, Amy and my dental hygienist, Robin, have managed to work me in to be seen in most cases, the same day, willing to forego their lunch break to accommodate me. With scheduled appointments I can't recall a time I had to wait! Dr. Randy and Dr. Karla are a rare combination of devotion, grace and wit. They are authentic; they speak unpretentiously, touchingly, profoundly and intelligently. They are courageous. They approach complicated procedures with sober judgement, intuitively veiled with wholesome humor to provide their patient a sense of safety and peace of mind. Their office is nicely decorated, comfortable, inviting, clean and orderly. Parking is always available and Rothfus Family Dental is conveniently located in an attractive medical multiplex. They demonstrate that they care about their team and their patients by investing in their work and health care environment. It has seeped into my consciousness, like an intravenous drip, that the entire staff of Rothfus Family Dental reflect the professionalism, moral and ethical quality of Dr. Randy and Dr. Karla. Most of the team has been with Dr. Rothfus at least as long as I have been a patient of theirs. I look forward to my teeth cleaning appointments which I schedule at least three times per year. I consider Dr. Randy, Dr. Karla and their team, dear friends. I enjoy visiting with them! They are trustworthy, talented, reliable, supportive, kind and a whole lot of fun! At Rothfus Family Dental, your oral health doesn't cost, it pays! I reap a heap of Blessings from each of my visits to Rothfus Family Dental. I am no one special. I have confidence that your experience will not be an exception. Sincerely, Mary Gregoire Ashland, Oregon

I was supposed to have an appointment on February 26,2026 but because I have a small balance that I can't currently pay right now again because I am Homeless and have no money coming in they cancelled that appointment. I received an email from Jes telling me they are sending me to collections which responded back that I don't have a way to make a payment because I have 0 money coming in and I am homeless currently. The response I get back is: "so do you want to make a payment and set up a payment plan"? Again are we avoiding the fact that I have told you I am homeless living in my car unemployed with no money coming in? I am already feeling so defeated right now and to read an email that has zero compassion and zero empathy has left a very bad taste in my mouth for this. Sad to see that it's all about the numbers instead of treating us who are already so vulnerable with this like we are actually human beings. Zero compassion. Zero empathy. Just very hurt by this

I have not had too many good experiences with going to the dentist in fact going to Cascade dental was my second positive experience in my life! I am not fond of dental experiences because of the negative ones I have had to date. I was nervous and had 10 other places I would rather be that day! From Terrie at the front desk, Michelle inside the room to Dr. Josh Rice my experience was filled with kindness, patience, compassion, understanding and knowledge! Even getting the tooth pulled was not an unpleasant experience because Dr. Josh Rice took his time with it! I didnt even need sedation! If you are looking for a great dental team to be a part of, you should try Cascade dental!! They are fabulous in all the areas that matter!! Thank you, cascade dental and Dr. Josh Rice you made me not as scared to go back! Teri Schuster

Since becoming a patient, he has replaced both new and older fillings, making sure everything is properly sealed and done right. I've had issues with previous dental work elsewhere, but Dr. Layer really takes his time and pays attention to detail, which gave me a lot of confidence in his work. The office has a great atmosphere, and the staff is always friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend them if you're looking for quality dental care.

Finding the right dentist can be a daunting task. My endeavor, with this review, is to assist with that task. Phone to schedule an appointment 541-734-0970. The following is my dental history: As I approach eight decades, reflecting on the various and certainly numerous dental offices I have encountered over the years, the wonderful changes in dental technology practices and procedures amazes me, it is GREAT. Not being blessed with great teeth, I recall the early days of my visits to the dentist's office. The dreaded dental drills that were dangling by an array of cantilever arms and pulleys that appeared they could double as an aerobatic array for "The Flying Wallendas." A dental drilling assembly that in all probably was being driven by the same mechanical system as the foot-pedal treadle sewing machine in use by my grandmother at the time. Local anesthesia, that the dentist assured you would certainly numb the tooth, was soon followed by the dreaded words "this won't hurt." Dread and horrific piercing pain were my constant companions when visiting the dentist's office. Fortunately, those days are over. The modern drills and anesthetics of today WORK, and a visit to the dentist's office is without the trials and tribulations of the past. Those modern tools in the hands of a seasoned professional like Doctor "Jake" make a visit to his office a pleasant experience. I was referred by my dentist in Washington to whom I was referred by my daughter. Since my arrival in the valley almost 12 years ago Jake has been our family dentist, and when I find a great dentist, I will refer those I know and care about. Jake and his staff have performed just about every dental procedure possible on my teeth, heck I could be the poster boy featured in a dental publication for aftermarket parts and procedures. All kidding aside, Jake and the staff are true professionals, positive, understanding, and they listen. They appreciate that every patient is an individual with differing cares, concerns and a dental history and treat them accordingly. Professional, proficient, personable, and patient oriented. I don't live and die by reviews, but I certainly find them useful when considering and evaluating services and products. I hope this review has been of assistance. Thanks Tom
