Placed a call to Richard Kay Chevrolet requesting an appt for an oil change on our 2020 Silverado Z71 and a complete truck detail. Carmen made the appt. We arrived at the date and time of 9 a.m. She had no indication of the appt and apologized stating she had been working there 2 weeks. They took the truck, anyway. We called at 2 p.m. to go round n' round with "Cornelius Bonner." Who is he? Received a call from Carmen at 5 p.m. stating truck was ready. Went to get truck to find that only the oil change was done. No detail, no common courtesy call or text to say the truck could not be detailed. Never ever go back to this dealer for anything!!! Their service department and diagnostic charges are criminal. We took our GMC Yukon in for something they had already looked at a few months back. We had our vehicle towed to their facility but they had no record of looking at the computer/radio (which they did and even quoted us a price to replace). We needed that checked again because we were having similar issues, but also knew our shocks and struts need to be replaced so we asked them to give us a quote for that as well. They charged us two separate $180 diagnostic fees. Almost $400 for no work just to tell us what we already knew and quoted us insane repair prices. Do not recommend for service! Drive to Greenville or somewhere else to get your GMC/Chevy serviced. They are not honest business people. read more

The staff was so amazing! From my salesman, McCurry to Tim and Will, manager and finally with Dana in Fiance, all were very pleasant and helpful. All went out of their way to make me feel comfortable and know that I was getting the right type of car I needed and the best deals that they could offer. They stated many times "this is how we do it here at Richard Kay" I love that they show respect to not only their job, but to the boss(owner) that speaks volumes to me. I was able to see how much each of the employees really enjoyed and love their jobs. That is a great sign of any company they the company takes care of their employees. I called Cornelius last week (either the 11th or the 12th) to schedule an appointment for this Friday at 2:00. Today, I called Richard Kay 24 hours before the appointment and they could not find anything in the system indicating there was a scheduled visit. Today is the 18th. To make matters worse, the guy who answered the phone was rude and rushed me off the phone despite the questions I had about the service I was getting done on my car -- a transmission pan drop and filter change. It's my asset. I have a right to ask three questions about it. Cornelius never called me back even though the guy on the phone this morning said he was coming in at 8. Was quoted $5200 for job. Greenville dealership quoted $2800 for the same job. In my attempt to get additional quotes, a GM parts person in the Upstate told me he will not even sell parts to Richard Kay. Advance Auto guy told me "if you have them do the repair, make sure you ask to see the parts they took off". hmmm. Last year the quote was over 2k to replace a brake caliper. Not the whole brake system, just a caliper. This is the first review I've left for any company or product in years. Our experience with Richard Kay Superstore started over the phone being that we were 650 miles away in south Florida, from that point we talked to Rashad and our experience ended less than a week later picking up our new vehicle. Everyone at the Anderson SC dealership was pleasant and Rashad was especially helpful in completing the transaction quickly and efficiently. As requested most of the paperwork was completed prior to our arrival which helped us get on our way in a minimal amount of time. Unreliable Service and Poor Communication at Richard Kay Chevy I had an incredibly frustrating experience at Richard Kay Chevy, and I strongly advise others to avoid this dealership. My 2016 Chevy Equinox was towed to their shop to fix a stalling issue, and what followed was a series of missteps, inconsistencies, and outright negligence that almost left me stranded and distrustful. First, my warranty was not honored because I perform my own oil changes, which was disappointing but not the main issue. The car was repaired for a solenoid issue, and I was quoted a maximum of roughly $500. However, when I spoke to an employee (let's call him J), he tried to charge me over $100 more until I pushed back, and he quickly corrected himself to the original price. This felt deceptive and set a bad tone. After paying in advance and confirming the car was ready, I arrived to pick it up around 6:30-7:00 PM, only to find it completely dead. No one had informed me of this until after I had driven it home, despite their later claim it couldn't hold a charge. Thankfully, a lingering employee jumped the car, but had they left, I'd have been stranded. Shockingly, when I got home, the key wouldn't release from the ignition--a problem that didn't exist when the tow truck driver (and myself l) removing it without issue it the morning it was brought in. The next day, I received a text from the dealership stating the car couldn't be started and the key couldn't be removed, which was odd since the key wasn't even in the ignition when I picked it up. When I returned to ask why this wasn't disclosed, why a dead car was left for pickup, and how the key was removed previously, I got vague or no answers at all. The mechanic claimed the battery caused the key issue, yet the car started fine after sitting overnight, contradicting their own message. They couldn't explain how the key was removed before I arrived or why the ignition suddenly failed after their service. This feels like either intentional damage or gross incompetence. The lack of transparency, failure to inform me of critical issues, and quoting an incorrect price are unacceptable. Had I not known a mechanic friend to guide me through manually releasing the key, my car would be unusable. Even when confronted, the dealership made no effort to compensate or resolve the issue, leaving me uncomfortable trusting them to touch my vehicle EVER again. Avoid Richard Kay Chevy. It lasted for 1 month and was almost 1000$ I had it worked on again in April 3025 it was over 2000$ it worked for 2 months now it is broke again 60 days later and they are saying 3200$. REALLY!!! And they always give us well it is this, this time or it is that. We said fix the ac. Not rob us. I would give a zero if I could. Really sad read more

If you're purchasing a vehicle from this dealership you will have a good experience. The sales man that sold me my GMC AT4X was super nice and super helpful. This was however not the case however when it came to this dealership's service department. I called and scheduled an appointment 10:30am on a Friday. Friday of Labor Day weekend so I get it they could be busy trying to get their work done before the long weekend. However, this does not excuse their lack of communication with me the customer. Having an appointment I figured I'd hear something regarding the status of my truck and what needed to be done in order to fix it sometime late afternoon. This was not the case. A little before 5pm as I sit twiddling my thumbs waiting for an update I call to seek one. My call was not answered however, I received away to text and ask for an update. I asked for an update to the status of my truck and this is the message I get back. "no answers just yet. are you able to leave it with us?" -- Venetia Temple I was under no impression I was going to have to leave my truck over the long weekend for them to fix some in my opinion not so complicated issues. If I had to wait for parts to come in I get that totally. However, Venetia could not even tell me if the techs had looked at or diagnosed or determined what needed to be done with the truck. So I finally called again and finally got her on the phone. I asked her to speak to the tech regarding my truck and she informed me they had all went home for the day. Dumb founded I asked her if they had planned to contact me and update me about the truck before they all went home for the long weekend. As the customer I told her I shouldn't have had to call to find out the status of my vehicle. You would think they would call or text and ask to keep the vehicle longer if they needed it or to reschedule a new date to bring it back for the repairs. She could not even tell me if the tech looked at it. Her response was " the truck is no longer parked out front which tells me that the tech has pulled it around" ok the tech pulled it around but went home and failed to inform you or me the customer of what he found or didn't find. This leads me to the conclusion that yes the tech pulled it around but never looked at the problems regarding the truck. They were too busy looking at the handicap accessible features of my truck to actually get around to looking at the issues the truck has. This I know because I spoke to the tech who brought it around to the front for me when I picked it up. I'm confined to a wheelchair and my truck is modified so I can drive it. These modifications not having to do with the problems my brand new truck are having. The problems have to do with a Axel locker warning that keeps flashing every other min. Wheel well skirting that completely came off driving down the highway and the 7pin trailer light wiring harness not connected to the plug. Also there's a recall on the truck that they already know the problem and what they need to fix. So in closing I live 45 mins away from the dealership and the only reason I went back to get my service done there is because I had a great sales experience. Because it was already late in the day when I finally got the lack of information regarding my truck I was unable to go down and pick it up before they closed. I had to reschedule my plans to drive down the next morning to pick up the truck. I scheduled an appointment so that way I knew my truck would get in to be looked at. This was my first and last time that I will use their service department. Lack of communication with their customers and then to not even be able to tell the customer what had or hadn't been done with the truck was a complete waste of my time and gas to drive down there. read more

Spent a lot of time deciding on a used car that was listed on the high side of KBB pricing. While the sales rep had indicated they could be flexible with pricing, when we offered them a little less, they gave us the old line" We are already losing money at this price". REALLY??? But the final straw was the addition of a "dealer prep fee" of $499 they added to the final price. I checked online to see what that was and several sites said dealer prep fees are a scam and that you should not pay them. Especially if they are adding 12% to cost of the vehicle! Swore up and down it was was injectors and spark plugs. Made repairs to injectors and park plugs. Transmission was still making some slips it was before. They than said the transmission was blown. After all repairs were done drove my truck for two weeks wondering what was rattling to find a old spark plug sitting on a a arm rattling. I will never set foot in this service department again. Been to Richard Kay 3 times - routine oil change, gear shift stuck in drive and AC not cooling. Two of these visits were $500 plus and I feel I was taken advantage of on both of them. Gear shift stuck in drive, squirrel or some powerful chewer chewed thru the cable connecting the shifter, maybe the outer plastic cover but not thru a heavy gauge wire. What a dumb bell I was. $$$$$$ The AC not cooling, problem with the system it had a leak they said and had to insert die and find the leak. System really did not work well when I picked it up either. $$$$$ I had it repaired today, No evidence of die in the system or in the clogged orifice that needed to be replaced, No refrigerant could get thru the orifice so how did die get thru to check for leak. How do these people sleep at night knowingly taking advantage of customers? Disgraceful in my honest opinion. Oil changed and AC repaired today at a local small business and the bill was under $200. Do NOT take your vehicle to this money pit called Richard Kay unless you have money to throw away. Staff were very nice and pleasant but it was a true rip off and money making operation and the customer is only a number that pays outrageous charges. read more

I had a 2PM appointment and dropped off vehicle at 1:30 PM. I was notified at 6 PM they would need to keep vehicle overnight as the technician had not yet looked at it. I asked why do you need to keep it overnight if it has not been looked at? I was told because we are closing. They had my vehicle for over 24 hours for a simple fix. I understand not getting to it, but they should have called at 4PM not 6PM so I could pick it up. The next day I could not get any call backs to get status update. I had to drive by the dealership to get update. Horrible service, I would not have bone here after reading reviews but was a warranty issue for 2019 vehicle. I purchased a used car on 9/15 for my son. On Thursday the tire pressure light came on and the tires were fine. I called and the told me to bring it in. He took it on 9/21, light was back on 9/23. I spoke with them again and it was taken back up there on 9/29. Car was picked up on 9/30 and I was driving it on 10/1 and the light came back on. This time I was told I would have to pay them to fix it. Let me also add that each time it was picked up my son had to reprogram his phone to the car so they were clearly not fixing it just resetting it to get the light to go off. We are talking about a $20 part. If their customer service is no better than that I would not recommend anyone buy from them. I also asked what they had done the previous times if they had replaced it and was told they weren't sure. Stir clear if you want to deal with an honest business. read more

I went in to get my car full serviced everything checked. everything was ok and I was on my way. I noticed two days later that the car started to overheat. I popped the hood and saw the a bracket had been broken it wore a hole into two coolant hoses. I brought the car and the paperwork back to them showing that they checked the belts and hoses and they said everything was good. they said they would look at it. I showed them where the bracket had been broken. it was fine before my last oil change and checked out good on the oil change they just performed. the bracket isn't anywhere near the bottom end of the engine so it couldn't have been damaged from something in the road. the girl came back and told me the problem could be fixed for almost $800.00 they broke the bracket. all I got "was well that sucks" I guess if they didn't put enough oil in the car on the oil change and it locked up I would have been told "well that sucks but we can fix it for 5k or more" I have owned GM products all my life. I'm not looking to get something for nothing. take responsibility for your mistake. I urge anyone that wants to to business with them take your money elsewhere because if they break something or do something wrong they will be more than happy to charge you to fix the problem. read more

This place is an absolute joke. Brought my truck in for a minor "wine" coming from the transfer case when in 4Hi. Should have been a pretty simple warranty rebuild or replacement. There aren't that many pieces in a transfer case. They have had it for 2 weeks now. Every day I go in they tell me it will be ready the next day. They've been saying that for over a week. A week ago they told me it would be ready for sure that evening. I get it its Covid and parts take a while to get but they just keep making excuses even when they have the parts in. Obviously the guys answering the phones don't check with the tech and just make stuff up. I don't even want them to fix it at this point I just need the truck back but they have it tore apart so I can't even get it back. As evening came on and was working the deal I asked the salesman if the car was the 'Luxury' edition. He said yes it was. I had no reason not to trust him on this. I purchased the car but had to leave it at the dealership till the next day when the salesman would deliver it to my house. I found out after the fact that it indeed was a 'base' model, not the Luxury when I called my insurance company and they ran the VIN # and said it was a base model. To say that I am disappointed in the service department would be an understatement. My 2021 Sierra has been here since February 9th. I have been told countless times that it would be ready only to be called several days after and told something different. In the beginning they were waiting on parts. All the parts came in and I was told that it would be ready in a few days. A few days went by and I was told now they are waiting on tools. All the tools showed and I was told that it was a 4-5 hour job, then it was a 25 hour job and then a 40 hour job. They have now had all the tools and parts needed to complete this job for 3 weeks and still no truck. I drove up there and to talk to management because he wouldn't return my call and he told me it would be ready this past Tuesday 4-19 at the latest. I was just informed it would be another week. I have called the General Manager only to be passed down to someone else. The service manager told me that I would only deal with him moving forward only to pass me back to the service advisor. Even after I requested him to call me he still would not. The service advisor told me "he had too much on his plate to talk to me". I'm form Alabama & I was visiting my husband who is working in South Carolina & he is staying in Pendleton. While I was visiting my 2006 H3 Hummer broke down. It wouldn't run. The next morning, I called Richard Kay Chevrolet & explained my situation. I was supposed to be leaving back home that same day. The service guy told me if I had it towed over to them, he would get it in the next morning. So, I called a towing company & had it towed to them before lunch. A short time later I received a text saying my appointment was at 7:30 am the next day. By 11:00 am the next day I hadn't heard from them so I called & the service guy said they hadn't gotten to it yet. By 3:00 pm still no word so I called back. They still hadn't looked at it. I threw a fit. Finally, at 3:15 pm the service manager called and said they were pulling it in. At 4:00 pm the service manager called & said I needed a new engine & quoted me $9,000 for a replacement. A red flag went up. Come on, 45 minutes. He said I was borderline from having a hole in my block, my timing chain was stretched & my cam actuators were clogged. I asked if the engine was in pieces & he replied no, it's just like you brought it in. We only took off the bare minimum. I declined the engine replacement & called my cousin in Alabama who is a retired mechanic. I asked if he would come with his truck & trailer & haul the Hummer home. The next day he drove to Pendleton SC & picked me up and we went to pick it up. They charged me $145.00. I paid my cousin $500 for his fuel and time. About 3 weeks later my cousin had a chance to work on my Hummer. He scanned the computer for a code & diagnosed the problem. He went to the part's store & purchased a timing cover actuator solenoid for $32. At this time, I was visiting my husband again when he called me & said your Hummer is fixed. I couldn't believe it. I was happy & mad at the same time. I had a towing fee, $145 at the dealership & $500 for my cousin all for a part that cost $32 and is installed with one bolt. It has been driven for over 150 miles now & is running great. How many people have they done this to? How many people on fixed incomes have they taken advantage of? What happened to integrity & doing your job? I drove to the dealership in person seeking answers but couldn't get one. All they said is they are going to refund me the $145. But what about the rest of the money I spent? They are scam artist. I'm sick of people taking advantage of me. I just want honesty & professionalism. read more

Several years ago I went to the service department to get a quote on getting a 4 wheel alignment on my 1999 Chevy Suburban. I was told the car needed a set of $400+++ replacement brackets / Parts in order to do a proper alignment. Then they could do a $300+++ alignment. I knew something was not right with what they where telling me. $300++ alignment???? $400+++ worth of parts???? I told them I was going to get a second opinion. I went to the Firestone place on Clemson BLVD. They did the alignment (LIFE TIME!!!!!) for $180. They further told me the brackets and replacement parts where already on the Suburban. You can not miss it they told me. Then he took me out to the service bay and showed me what he was talking about. I went back to the service department with the receipt, The service manager told me that the service tech must not have seen that it was already done. I felt very much like I was being lie to and that I caught them trying to scam me into a modification that had already been done. When I expressed that, the service manager basic gave me a shoulder shrug. Like he did not care, even to the point of arrogance like so you caught me in a lie, so what, there are 1000s suckers born every minute I will just get the next one. Terrible, NO HONOR, NO INTEGRITY. Display of poor Judgement and Knowledge. Made me angry and question if I would ever purchase another GM product. I have all Honda's now. We went to Richard Kay just to test drive a Buick to see if my Husband liked it- we had no intentions of purchasing it or even getting to the point of discussing numbers. We were greeted by Michael Mattison and he was very friendly, knowledgeable, and did not pressure us to buy at all. We loved the car and after doing some research on KBB and Edmunds the car was priced very fair. We decided to proceed with the purchase, the process wasn't quick but also wasn't too bad. We negotiated a little for our trade-in before speaking with finance. My only issue was that while we were speaking with finance they were already switching our plates and assuming we were going to buy - we hadn't agreed on a number at this point. I understand the sales tactic but didn't really like that. Luckily we agreed on a price and drove home with the Buick that evening.
