These people are ill-informed of what happens behind the scenes and fail to understand that doctors don't fall behind because they want to, but, rather, because they are spending time speaking with and treating patients. More often than not, a dermatologist will be stuck treating a complicated case or have to listen to an entire patient's life story and will, thus, be unable to leave the room. If cases are emergent, then the doctor will see you right away, but if you come in just wanting a wart treated, then have a little empathy and understand that there are other patients in the practice that also need the same ailment treated. It's just common courtesy, really. Rant aside, my experience with Dr. Wang was amazing. He is very pleasant and has a wonderful bedside manner; he apologized right away for my having to wait (though I only waited for ~10 minutes), and took an extra five or so minutes to ask me how my day was. When it came to addressing my concerns, he spoke plainly and was very good about presenting the information in a way that was highly reassuring. I told him right away that I had a dermatology background, and he quickly switched to normal medical lingo which I appreciated. He was quick to treat my lesion and also spent time examining other spots that I hadn't even thought of checking. What I really appreciated, however, was how he called me to personally inform me of the benign nature of my spot and that I had nothing to worry about. Honestly, the other reviewers didn't even give Dr. Wang the chance to impress them, and I am sure that if they had given him the courtesy of a five minute chat, they would have changed their ratings right away. Keep doing you, Dr. Wang. You're the man!

I am extremely disappointed with Northeast Dermatology Associates due to non-transparent and…read moreunethical billing practices. I scheduled what was clearly a preventative dermatology visit, which is fully covered by my insurance. During the appointment, a nurse briefly asked if she could "relieve pressure" from a very small pimple. I agreed, with zero disclosure that this minor action would re-code the visit as a medical procedure and completely change the billing. As a result, my appointment was billed as a procedure, totaling $509.23, with $432 out-of-pocket -- for something that took seconds and was never explained as billable. Had I been informed that this would convert my preventative visit into a chargeable procedure, I would absolutely not have consented. Aetna confirmed that the provider could recall the claim since no payment has been made yet, but the office refused to do so. They also confirmed that I am not eligible for the self-pay rate (around $300) because of a clinic policy, despite the lack of informed consent that caused the issue in the first place. To be clear: this is not about the individual provider (Ashley Wilson, NP, who has since left the practice). This is about office-wide billing practices that fail to disclose the financial consequences of minor in-office actions. Patients should not be subjected to surprise medical bills because a clinic chooses not to explain billing code implications upfront. This experience reflects a serious lack of transparency and informed consent, and I find it deeply unethical. I am posting this to warn others: if you go here, ask detailed billing questions before allowing anything beyond a visual exam, no matter how minor it seems. I would not recommend this practice based on how this situation was handled.

From the moment you check in with Ashley at the front desk to the care you receive from Morgan and Anna, you feel welcomed, supported, and most importantly seen. I have alopecia areata, and as a woman, losing my hair was devastating. I cried many tears over the years, but then, out of nowhere, my hair started sprouting back. It felt like God was saying, "Here, take this," and I wasn't about to question it! That's when I found Dr. Ip through a referral, and let me tell you it was one of the best decisions I've ever made. She evaluated me with such care and expertise, starting me on a treatment plan tailored to my needs. We began with topical treatments, added excimer therapy after a few months, and incorporated steroid shots every 6-8 weeks. No two treatment plans are the same, but I am living proof that Dr. Ip's hands have been blessed by God! Beyond the top-tier care, what I love about Vibrant Dermatology is that they never push products on you. They make thoughtful recommendations, and you have the freedom to say yes or no (trust me, I've done both!). If you're looking for a dermatologist who truly cares, give Dr. Ip a try, and be sure to tell her that Shaleah, her favorite Alopecian, sent you! I mean, I must be her fave, right? Lol.

Often I was treated with condescension and made to feel like it was just about the money with the Dr. and her staff. Dr. Ip responded in bad faith with regard to several insurance claims (claims that were eventually paid out to the Dr by my insurance). With so many talented dermatologist in the Boston- Metro area, I was colossally disappointed that this office and staff lacked the professionalism and attention to patient concerns I've come to expect with all of my medical providers. If you want a provider that prioritizes dollars and notoriety over patient care and satisfaction... then Dr. Ip and her staff are the folks for you. If you are seeking great customer care and service; find another provider.
