Since I retired and moved to Lake Elsinore, I needed a doctor closer to home. My brother, who is an insueance agent, helped set my Medicare and health insurance. Dr.Richard Lam was chosen for me and I love that he listened to my problems. i feel that I finally found a doctor who is helping me. Make this make sense. My mother who is disabled and has just been diagnosed with breast cancer has to get clearance by Dr. Lam in order for her to have her cancer surgery procedure. This was a second appointment with Dr Lam's office because her transportation arrived late to get her there the first appointment. So on today for her second appointment, the transportation didn't arrive at all. I call Dr. Lam's office to let them know that we were running late because the transportation never arrived, and I took off work so that I could get her there by 8:30. Her appointment was at 8:15. The woman I spoke to told me that my mother only had a 5-minute grace period and that her appointment had to be canceled because there were other people who had appointments and they couldn't allow her to come. I explained to them what had happened before and how my mother needed to get clearance so that she can have a procedure which is 2 weeks away. The woman showed no compassion, and she basically said it was my mother's responsibility to get there on time which wasn't professional. After rescheduling another appointment, they gave her an appointment for 2 weeks later which is the same week of her cancer procedure. I don't like the fact that their grace period is only 5 minutes after the appointment time which I have never experienced even going to my own doctor. read more

Don't go here for any reason. This is an uncaring "strip-mall" MD. I thought his staff was super nice, but that is part of his formula to rope you in. Nice staff and an uncaring Dr who writes prescriptions fast to get you out of his office. Don't dare come back and tell him the side affects are worst than the disease for he will only scold you and throw another drug at you. Most of his 40+ clients a day are shuffled through real fast, seniors like me. Too bad. The Man doesn't care. read more

UPDATE: When my husband told Dr. Lam he was having numbness and tingling in his feet, Dr. lam dismissed it and said it was normal for the type of job he has. Fast forward to a new pcp who cares, after seeing multiple specialists, my husband had a bulging disc in his thoracic area and almost went paralyzed if he didn't have surgery. Dr. Lam and his NP are horrible providers. If you want a MD who will listen to your concerns and do NOTHING. This is the doctor for you. I feel sorry for all the seniors who are assigned to him and don't know any better. Why does he even practice if he doesn't give a crap?! Oh and make sure you save your receipts for from your copays because they will call you a year later and tell you that you never paid. read more

Today I actually was calling to see I can make appointment with the doctor when I actually called their staff was very rude and very disappointing. I'm actually a new patient ready to come into his office from the insurance company they are one of the few doctor's office would accept an HMO for new patients man did I had a rude awakening when I called the office the staff who was servicing me over the phone was very rude unprofessional and I'm wondering how is she keeping her job the way she's treating new clients right off the bat and insisting if you're not a client of ours I don't give a hoot about you attitude. I even told her I am a new patient going to be signed to her office but she shipped it off saying hey you don't like me I don't care unless you are patient for the Clinic. Well guess what I was signing up to your office but I just call my insurance company and canceled. Dr Lam is an excellent listener. He has been my primary care doctor for almost 12 years. I consider myself a partner in my Healthcare and he is amenable to this. If I ask questions he takes the time to answer them thoroughly. He asks me questions. If you are a senior citizen, I highly recommend him. First off, I would put 0 stars but unfortunately that is not an option. Terrible service, will not return your phone call & message or have any clue as to why you arrived for your visit. This has to be the most unproffesional doctors office in the USA. How hard is it, to not only schedule a visit correctly but to also ensure the patients receive what they are seeking. I had to constantly remind the clueless staff, what papers I needed, had to remind them of the services I scheduled, it is dumbfounding how this place is still in operation. This staff knows exactly how terrible they are at their jobs so I don't even think they will either mind this review or care, but the fact of the matter, which is that this so-called, "doctors office" is a prime example of a cess pool of poorly trained, simple minded humans involved in a practice no one is suited for. Please do everyone a favor who is involved with this shit-hole-excuse for a doctors office & just quit, go home, and try putting together a puzzle or two to try and gain the ability of critical thinking, oh & maybe TRY this time at what you actually do for a LIVING. I have been using Dr. Richard Lam for several years and so has my family. I see him for everything from my arthritis to skin ailments, high blood pressure and high blood sugar. Dr. Lam recommends the best course of treatment and in my opinion, doesn't over prescribe medications. All of Dr. Lam's staff member's are nice and give you good personal attention whether on the phone or in the office. I have tried other physicians in the Sun City and Menifee area and Dr. Lam has been the best for me. I believe he has an office in Temecula too. read more

My experiences here have been nothing but awful. From start to finish, awful. Want to make an appointment? You'll have to call between 5 and 10 times to get an employee that 1.) has time to talk to you and 2.) doesn't hang up on you. Never in all my life have I been hung up on so many times in a row, so many times in one week, so many times in one month. It truly boggles my mind. Want to have a conversation with Dr. Lam? Well, you better get all of your ailments and concerns out in the first sentence because his attentiveness and responsiveness is pretty limited. It seems like he's just in a hurry to get to the next patient. This time they gave me multiple prescriptions and tests to be done which they said was covered by my insurance (lie) and they neglected to mention other stipulations for the tests and prescriptions. What should have taken me a week has now taken me nearly three just to straighten out. Speaking of....want to talk to someone in the doc's office to help you straighten things out? Only if you don't mind getting transferred and hung up on another dozen times. This office is the worst I've ever been to and the worst I've ever heard of. If you're reading this, please do not give these people your money! That is clearly the only thing they're interested in...if they were at all interested in your well being, they'd prove it by starting with the simplest of gestures: taking the time to talk to people. read more

To be honest, I was scared to go to this doctor after the reviews I have read. Fortunately, my experience was a great deal better then what I was expecting. The front staff were helpful and answered my questions. Dr. Lam seemed caring and listened to what I had to say. Hi im 35. I was very loyal to my Dr till recently. I had an illness which caused severe anxiety at night, since that is when I had my severe pains from pancreatitis. I develope some type of insomnia it feels like adrenalin to my extremities and chest which keep me up at night. Some say if feels like falling, butterflies in stomach or jerking to legs/arms and a quick rush of adrenaline to the chest. It only happens as I'm about to fall asleep. Instead of addressing the issue, he gets upset with me and we begin to almost argue. He said it's my fault I have these issues because he has prescribed antidepressants and I don't take them. I've never felt depressed but i do take seizure medication do to brain injury back in 2001( nevr had any issues till now). A few years ago I took them( antidepressant) and I started to feel suicidal and severe anxiety. So I told my Dr I'm not going to take them.he was Ok. So, he won the argument and he put me on trazodone, and some type of antidepressant. It was a nightmare , the least I can say. Then klonopin which keeps u tired and in bed all day, that sucks. Now he said I need wellbutrin xl for energy during the day. I started to tremble, have night sweats, vivid nightmares. So I tell him again about my symptoms and now gave me zoloft with klonopin. I asked If I was a dart board, if your just going to throw meds till one sticks ( a ginnie pig)..there response was yes.. I feel like I'm loosing my mind. I still have insomnia. He never fixed the issue. I went to a different dr( paid out of pocket) and they strongly suggest( referral) I go to a neurologist but I have no insurance with them... I will soon have a new primary dr.. I would always tell dr lam that I hate taking pills and if there is any alternative I'd do it but prescription pad is his to go pad... I just want a good night sleep without all the side effects. read more

Wish I could give this office a zero star. Ridiculous...I had to call and confirm an appointment a day before the scheduled appointment. Turns out the doctor would not be in the office for the week. The staff couldn't call and let us know. Waited over two weeks for the appointment..now wanting to schedule back for another 3 weeks. So unprofessional don't waste your time or energy. read more

I don't get these bad reviews. I consider myself a fairly picky person when it comes to services. I have been a patient of Dr. Lam's for 5+ years and I have been nothing but impressed.The front office staff is amazing ,very responsive to my needs and get referrals done and approved within two days.Several years ago I was very ill and was in the hospital for a week .I needed nursing services when I came home.The office manager and the staff went above and beyond to make sure that I was set up with everything when I got home .The office manager actually called me after hours one evening to check on me to make sure that referrals were working out for me and the nursing staff was coming out to take care of me Whenever I need to see a specialist Dr.Lam makes it happen.There s no arguing no pleading he just does it I love this office and Dr. so much,that my 16-year-old daughter now goes to him.She didn't get to see Dr. Lam last week but she saw the PA.I have never seen such a thorough physical be done on my daughter it put her pediatrician to shame. Dr. Lam and staffYou have a patient for life.I will not hesitate to refer anyone to you PS I also was a witness to a patient in the office demanding pain pill prescriptions. Dr. Lam is a excellent Physician he is a dr for all the right reasons he cares for his patients, it does not matter if you are young or old, or what kind of insurance you have you are treated the same. I worked for him for 6 years and I am a patient now along with all my family members we are so greatful for the care we receive from him and his staff, Sandra in his Sun City office and Alex in his Temecula office go out of there way to make sure we are taken care of. Dr. Lam is a very good doctor and I enjoy seeing him However; his staff is the worst I have ever seen They are pushy and rude. They badger you over the phone to divulge your reason for the visit no matter how embarrassed you are or how personal you feel the information is. they do not care if you tell them its personal and want to only speak with the doctor. I just spoke with a Maria and she should be fired. She is rude and unprofessional. I told her I would feel more comfortable talking to Dr. Lam about my medial problems. She tells me that I have to tell her because he is only going to see me for what I tell her. Not true,, my insurance pays his bill, he will see me for whatever I tell him he will see me for, not what this idiot Maria tells him. There is one girl, name Brandi, who is the only person who has always been polite and helpful, its a shame she is surrounded by people like Maria. I have has several issues with Maria and have complained about her to Dr. Lam in the past. I have a co-worker that has had similar experiences with this person. read more

I'd give 0 stars if I could, the only 2 times I've ever had there I've seen Physician assistant Ana Sandoz and she is rude and doesn't take any time to listen to you so you explain what's wrong and how you're feeling. I was there about a month ago(11/18/2015) complaining of an ear ache and felt pressure in my ear and sounded like I was under water, she just told me I had allergies and nothing was wrong and prescribed me allergy medicine. Now I went in yesterday(12/11/2015) and symptoms were way worse, could barely hear out of my right ear and then says "oh you have a ear infection due to the allergies." I told her it was absolutely not allergies I had a horrible cough, I just had taken my boyfriend in one December 10th, the day before my appt and he had a double ear infection, cough and spitting up mucus. As well as 4 other people I work with had the exact same thing. I myself am a medical assistant and work with doctors all day long and she is not someone I would recommend anyone to go to. She was very rude and does not take the time to do an examination and totally disregarded my concerns. Would never recommend seeing physician assistant Ana Sandoz. Honestly theeee WORST doctors office I've ever been to, and the girls who work in the front office are complete B**ches and obviously didn't go to school to work in medical. Completely incompetent people who do NOT know what they're doing what so ever. I'd rather spend the $70 out of pocket to go to my regular PCP whose amazing then to ever go back to Dr.Lams office. read more
