Parking is on the street but also in the back. It's an old restored house. I was greeted by Alex who also did my facial. We walked to the room and I laid down. She asked what area should she focus on and I told her. The facial was very relaxing and she also did some extractions which I love!! She was making sure I was ok when she was doing it and I thought that was nice. Every mask she put on me, she told me what it was and what it was for. And the end of the facial she gave me a hand massage which was awesome! Plus, she dabbed something on my lips and when I put it together it felt like a great lip balm! Definitely worth the price!

My 18 year-old daughter wanted an all over hair dye as her Christmas gift. We first attempted to do…read moreit the week after Christmas. We had taken her to Ulta, as I didn't really know of someone to do it off hand, and Ulta should know what they are doing, right? We explained what we wanted, and the stylist let us know that it would probably be a long process because my daughter has very dark hair. That was fine. I left her there. She called not long after to tell me that the stylist told her she couldn't do what my daughter wanted in one visit after all. She wanted to start and then have my daughter come back for another visit later. This didn't sound right to me, but I agreed. What my daughter ended up with- after wanting all over blue hair- was green highlights in her hair. They weren't very well done, and my husband, who picked her up, was charged double the amount that we were told it would be. My daughter was devastated- to say the least. We started looking for a competent stylist who came recommended and could get her hair the way she wanted it. Caleb at Twisted Lemon was highly recommended, so we went to see him. He took time to look at what my daughter's hair looked like. He told us exactly what he would do to fix it. He gave us a quote for the price. And then we made an appointment. My daughter had her visit to Caleb this week. And we are thoroughly impressed. He took so much time with her- much more than he had expected , once he actually began to work. He discovered that the Ulta stylist had done some crazy things that really messed up the color of her hair, things he couldn't believe a professional stylist would do. He spent all afternoon and then had my daughter come back after her night class at Winthrop to finish up. Her hair looks beautiful! Even after all that time, he charged us what he said he would. He is extremely talented and professional. He put my daughter at ease and did an amazing job. We can highly recommend him!

The salon is modern, clean and the staff is professional and welcoming. My next appointment is on the calendar! You should get yours scheduled too!

My husband found Shear Xcellence on Angie's list and I made an appointment with Will who has been my adventure partner in hair ever since! He took me from a short brunette with highlights cut to shoulder length blonde with purple accents to silver with purple and blue accents and just recently helped me make the leap to letting my natural salt and pepper show in a short, sassy, chic cut! Besides being an Xcellent stylist, Will is a great guy and very easy on the eyes! ;) He owns the salon with Debbie and they have several talented women who work with them! PS. For Megan T who had a bad experience. These stylists all have full schedules almost every day. Just because the salon looked empty at that time doesn't mean they were blowing you off. The next wave of customers had not arrived yet. Make an appointment and you won't be disappointed! PSS. Check out my Angie's List review for photos of my hair adventures!

I really needed a good cut and some advice on how to style my now very grown out roots. I decided to try Hair Design 49, so called & Darcy answered. She was able to get me in the following week. I was really disappointed by my experience at this salon. The atmosphere felt unwelcoming and…read morejudgmental rather than professional or kind. It also became clear that the owner encourages staff to only accept or prioritize "high-end" clients who fit a certain image, which I found very discouraging. For example, the owner prioritizes hair extension services as if it's a high end salon in New York City. On top of that, it was uncomfortable to hear clients being discussed after they left -- something that should never happen in a professional environment. There's been a lot of staff turnover recently, and it's not hard to understand why. It's sad to see this kind of culture in a small community like Waxhaw, where most salons take pride in treating everyone with respect.
